This study aims to determine the correlation between the apartment resident community and housing satisfaction and suggest which factors can contribute to improving the local community's housing environment and satisfaction by means of the local inhabitants and apartment residents participating in co-managing the community. The study results are as follows. Firstly, the apartment resident community had a positive effect on housing satisfaction but the effects were insignificant. This revealed that residents' interest in communicating with the resident community was low due to various organizations such as the women's association, election committee, and autonomous society being used as means to pursue personal gain rather than the development of the entire apartment. Secondly, the vitalization of the apartment resident community had a positive effect on housing satisfaction. The analysis results showed that the higher the level of unity and volunteering activities of residents, the more improved the resident vitalization programs are being managed, and the higher the level of resident participation, the higher the housing satisfaction. Lastly, this study suggests the supplementation and upgrading of apartment community facilities into complex community facilities as a means to unify the residents and vitalize the resident community. To vitalize the resident community and strengthen the community spirit, the residents will need to voluntarily create a community hub by forming community-tailored associations and programs through connections with local governments and businesses.

With the development of the internet and the spread of 'digital home', apartment houses equipped with the homepages connecting apartment houses as one cyberspace unit have increased. The virtual community with a homepage in apartment complex have improved the effect on management businesses in the side of a apartment manager and increased the importance of the space with a strong tie between residents in the side of residents. But the apartment residents didn't make full use of the virtual community because they have the low level of recognition of it. Therefore, this study attempted to present basic materials for the scheme to revitalize the virtual community. For this purpose, it attempted to find residents' recognition of and participation in the virtual community and demand for the classified contents conducted before this study. In the research method, it conducted the questionnaire research. The results are as follows. 1) First of all, It was found that the apartment residents had the low level of recognition of the virtual community. There was a significant difference according to the degree and the level of using the internet. Some easy-access programs are necessary. 2) The apartment residents took part in the virtual community about 67 percents because there was a lack of the public relation of the virtual community. 3) It was found that there was a significant positive correlation between the level of recognition and participation. 4) An attempt was made to identify the apartment residents' demand for the type of virtual community contents. It was found that most of contents were needed. 'apartment complex introduction and management information' showed the highest score among them. 5) Most respondents are affirmative to the virtual community. Therefore the residential community could be reinforced if the contents of virtual community is developed and well operated in the future.

Residents of apartment complex make various attempts for their community. However, a community space in current apartment complex is planned uniformly without consideration of residents' diversity and the physical aid environment for aged people, children and the handicapped is in limited supply. Community spaces in apartment complexes satisfy various residents but need further study about this. The purpose of this study intends to evaluate the applicability of Universal design of community in apartment complex. Research was done examining 12 different apartment complexes in Seoul, which were all built after the year 2002. Researched community spaces were the senior citizen's center an indoor exercise area and a preschool which were evaluated and measured by passage areas, ramps, stairways and entrances. As a result, the study found that application of Universal design of community spaces in apartment complexes were evaluated relatively low. The environment of community space in apartment complex is not considered the blind, deaf, disabled, children and aged people because the application of these categories doesn't be enforced a law. Hence, Universal design regulations and design guidelines were established to satisfy residents of apartment complex.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the present use and the needs for community facilities in apartment housing complex. Eight apartment housing complexes containing more than 500 units which constructed after 2000 were selected for this study. Three hundred and fifty three residents of apartment housing were surveyed to identify their needs and use of community facilities. The main findings of this study are as following; The most frequently used community facilities in apartment housing were outdoor rest area, exercise facilities, and park and playground. Also, the highly required community facilities were outdoor rest area, exercise facilities, and park and playground. Especially, most of the respondents showed the high level of need for the exercise facilities such as swimming pool, fitness center, and sauna.

The goal of this study is to identify the sense of community that is present in people based on different housing types and to devise methods for a sustainable community by comparing and contrasting the factors affecting the sense of community between apartment residents and non-apartment residents. The data for the analysis was collected using the questionnaire survey method from July 23~30, 2015, and the sample consisted of 225 respondents living in Gongdukdong, Mapo-gu, in Seoul. The results were as follows: (1) The attitude and sense of community in both groups turned out to be near the middle range without showing a significant difference. (2) All the variables related to the attitude towards the community that have impacts on the development of sense of community show significant positive correlations in both groups. (3) Determining factors of the sense of community are -in the order of importance- frequency of interaction, community awareness, and satisfaction level of community facilities. This result indicates that developing customized programs to enhance community interactions and making people aware of policies and support available are more effective in building a strong sense of community than expanding and refurbishing community facilities.

The purpose of this study is to develop components of task and competency indicators for apartment community specialist who supports for community activations. The research process consists of three parts. Firstly, the direction of developing competency indicator set up by literature review related community, job components, and competency indicators. Second, analysing of job and competency indicators were developed and revised through focus group interview (FGI), and questionnaire survey on 6 experts in community area. Third, questionnaire survey from 20 community specialists in seoul was performed in order to analyze the importance of the competency components. As a result of this research, selected competency indicators were settled as followed : the competency indicators for apartment community specialist consisted of 3 competency clusters, 14 competency factors, 48 competency indicators. Community specialist recognized attitude and personal trait as the most important competency clusters, and understanding of community, interpersonal relations and communication skill, and vocational ethics and social responsibility as important factors in the competency indicators. The results of this study will used as tool for evaluating the job and competency of apartment community specialist, establishing professional identity of apartment community specialist, and providing an importance knowledge base for developing educational curriculum for them.

This study is focused first on considering the factors which invigorate the community in an apartment complexes from the precedent study and on identifying the specific factors, necessary to run vigorously the community in an apartment complexes. After that, the study is devoted to develop the management scenarios suitable for each type, through identifying, on the basis of the factors, the operation type of the 15 apartment complexes, in which the Seoul city community experts exist. The study result could be the basis to find out an effective method to run and manage community facilities and programs according to the features of an apartment. On the study, the 1:1 in-depth interviews were conducted on the community experts, who supported the community management in the five autonomous districts in Seoul. The study found followings. 1) The community factors needed to be readjusted in respect of operation and management. to estimate how active the community in an apartment complexes was. After identifying the community operation factors, the factors in human resources, material resources, and financial resources, were figured out. 2) The five groups were drawn from the 15 apartment complexes. The grouping was based on the relation between the main operators in each factor which invigorates the community operation. As the result, the relationship between the main operators was vertical. In addition, the more operators. 3) Six types were drawn after grouping the operation status of the 15 apartment complexes on the factors which affected to the community invigoration: human resources, material resources, and financial resources. Consequently, the managing scenarios to invigorate the community in each type were suggested.

The rapid development of Information technology and the Internet has brought about a new phase like building cyber communities in Apartment residential space. This study empirically considers the possibility and limit of cyber communities based on apartment residential space through analysing apartment Internet home pages. The analysing results show us the fact that apartment cyber communities are less satisfied than theoretical expectation. However, they have some possibilities as on-line communities. First of all, the most important factor is off-line community activities in realizing the possibility of cyber community at least in apartment residential space.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a social environment to active communities in apartment housing, on the basis of the residents' different social environments of two apartment complexes having their own respective community spaces. A questionnaire was responded by 434 housewives residing in the two apartment complexes which have their own respective space usage and programs in the community spaces larger than is legally specified. The questionnaire comprised items such as neighborhood consciousness, social intercourse, needs of community program diversity. The frequency analysis, the t-test, ANOVA, chi-square analysis were used for the comparison of characteristics of the two apartment complexes. The results of the social environment are as follows. The neighborhood consciousness, social intercourse of residents, and their attitude for participation in the common activities differed according to the residents' socio-demographic characteristics (age, education, number of family, average household income), complex distinctions (presence of clubs, community spaces, and community programs), and the attitude of constructors to foster it. Residents' participation rate and their participation intention showed positive correlation.

The trend toward more welfare living because of more leisure time has influenced the popularity of the community facilities in apartment housing. According to the residents' increasing interests for well-being life the changes and developments of the community facilities have been required in these days. The purpose of this research is to study these required changes and developments by analyzing the resident's using behavior of community facilities in apartment housing focusing on the educational and cultural facilities. For this purpose, this research intends to examine the existing conditions and problems of educational and cultural community facilities in apartment housing and to analyze the residents' using patterns such as frequency, preference and satisfaction and to comprehend the additional needs and requirements of the residents. The conclusions and suggestions of this research can be a basic data for the architects to design a resident-oriented educational and cultural community facilities.
