An antivirus is a widely used solution for detecting malicious softwares in client devices. The performance of antivirus solutions in the mobile client environment is critical due to its resource constrains. Many solutions light-weighting client's overhead in the mobile client environment have been developed. However, most solutions require platform modifications or software installations and it decreases their realizations in practice. In this paper, we propose a solution detecting malwares on networks using the Software Defined Network (SDN). Our main goal is designing a solution detecting malwares of mobile client without involving the client into the work. We contribute to provide a solution that does not require client-side installations or modifications and so is easily applicable in practice.

Damages by malware have recently been increasing. Conventional signature-based antivirus solutions are helplessly vulnerable to unprecedented new threats such as Zero-day attack and ransomware. Despite that, many enterprises have retained signature-based antivirus solutions as part of the multiple endpoints security strategy. They do recognize the problem. This paper proposes a solution using the blockchain and deep learning technologies as the next-generation antivirus solution. It uses the antivirus software that updates through an existing DB server to supplement the detection unit and organizes the blockchain instead of the DB for deep learning using various samples and forms to increase the detection rate of new malware and falsified malware.

Recently, controversy has been raised over the security and safety of Chinese-made network equipment (Huawei 5G), apps (TikTok, etc.). In particular, according to the results of the Ministry of Defense investigation in 2020, malicious codes were found in CCTVs made in China that were delivered as military surveillance equipment used as a coast guard system, and specific information was remotely transmitted to a Chinese server. The safety issues of these Chinese security products can be questioned as being systematically led by the state rather than by companies or individuals. In this paper, we perform network and process level analysis of 360 Total Security(360 TS), a Chinese antivirus software. In addition, it compares and analyzes the domestic cloud-based vaccine V3 Lite product. Through this, the safety of Chinese security solutions is checked and information leakage and risks are suggested.
The history of computer virus comes along with that of computer. Computer virus han surfaced as a serious problem in information age. The advent of open network and widespread use of Internet made the problem even more urgent. As a method of defense for computer virus most companies use anti-virus software. Selecting appropriate anti-virus software involves various criteria and thus it is a multiple-attribute decision making problem. The purpose of this study is to prioritize anti-virus software evaluation factors. To do that, first of all, important evaluation factors are selected based on previous research on anti-virus software as well as general software evaluation models. Then, a questionnaire survey was conducted on end-users, system administrators and anti-virus software developers. The survey result was analyzed with ExpertChoice 2000 which is based on Analytic hierarchy Process technique. This study found that there are clear differences among three survey groups regarding the relative importance of overall evaluation factors. End-user group ranked "cost" first, but it was the least important factor to developer group. Developers pointed out "operational support" ad the most important factor. There were also obvious differences in the relative importance of detail evaluation items. Both end-users and system administrators shared 7 common items among top 10 most important items. Moreover, neither of the two groups ranked any of the items in the "operational support" factor in top 10, whereas all 4 items in the factor were included in top 10 by developer group.

As the popularization of smartphone increases the number of various applications, the number of malicious applications also grows rapidly through the third party App Market or black market. This paper suggests an investigation filter, Androfilter, that detects the fabrication of APK file effectively. Whereas the most of antivirus software uses a separate server to collect, analyze, and update malicious applications, Androfilter assumes Google Play as the trusted party and verifies integrity of an application through a simple query to Google Play. Experiment results show that Androfilter blocks brand new malicious applications that have not been reported yet as well as known malicious applications.

Obfuscation technology delays the analysis of a program by modifying internal logic such as data structure and control flow while maintaining the program's functionality. However, the application of such obfuscation technology to malicious code frequently occurs to reduce the detection rate of malware in antivirus software. The obfuscation technology applied to protect software intellectual property is applied to the malicious code in reverse, which not only lowers the detection rate of the malicious code but also makes it difficult to analyze and thus makes it difficult to identify the functionality of the malicious code. The study of reverse obfuscation techniques that can be closely restored should also continue. This paper analyzes the characteristics of obfuscated code with the option of Pack the Output File and Import Protection among detailed obfuscation technologies provided by VMProtect 3.4.0, a popular tool among commercial obfuscation tools. We present a de-obfuscation algorithm.

As the BadUSB is a vulnerability, in which a hacker tampers the firmware area of a USB flash drive. When the BadUSB device is plugged into the USB port of a host system, a malicious code acts automatically. The host system misunderstands the act of the malicious behavior as an normal behaviour for booting the USB device, so it is hard to detect the malicious code. Also, an antivirus software can't detect the tampered firmware because it inspects not the firmware area but the storage area. Because a lot of computer peripherals (such as USB flash drive, keyboard) are connected to host system with the USB protocols, the vulnerability has a negative ripple effect. However, the countermeasure against the vulnerability is not known now. In this paper, we analyze the tampered area of the firmware when a normal USB device is changed to the BadUSB device and propose the countermeasure to verify the integrity of the area when the USB boots. The proposed method consists of two procedures. The first procedure is to verify the integrity of the area which should be fixed even if the firmware is updated. The verification method use hashes, and the target area includes descriptors. The second procedure is to verify the integrity of the changeable area when the firmware is updated. The verification method use code signing, and the target area includes the function area of the firmware. We also propose the update protocol for the proposed structure and verify it to be true through simulation.
The Internet is a highly distributed and complex system consisting of billion devices and has become the field of various kinds of conflicts during the last two decades. As a matter of fact, various actors utilise the Internet for illicit purposes, such as for performing distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS) and for spreading various types of aggressive malware. Despite the fact that numerous services provide information regarding the threat level of the Internet, they are mostly based on information acquired by their sensors or on offline statistical sampling of various security applications (antivirus software, intrusion detection systems, etc.). This paper introduces proactive threat observatory system (PROTOS), an open-source early warning system that does not require a commercial license and is capable of estimating the threat level across the Internet. The proposed system utilises both a global and a local approach, and is thus able to determine whether a specific host is under an imminent threat, as well as to provide an estimation of the malicious activity across the Internet. Apart from these obvious advantages, PROTOS supports a large-scale installation and can be extended even further to improve the effectiveness by incorporating prediction and forecasting techniques.

The increasing of Cloud Computing technology among several companies has been a key strategy for IT services to provide desirable IT solutions to consumers of cloud services. More attention is concentrated to these core technologies that enable cloud services and more particularly to the virtualization aspect. The accessibility to a larger number of users is possible because of the usage of the data-intensive, data management and data integrity. Unfortunately, those useful services are vulnerable to kind of attacks by hackers, thus the security of personal information is in critical situation. To solve this to leakage vulnerability, and with the proliferation of cloud services, the cloud service providers adopt a security system with firewall, antivirus software and a large number of virtualized servers and Host. In this paper, a variety of virtualization technologies, threats and vulnerabilities are described with a complement of different security solutions as countermeasures.
