식품포장의 항산화제 첨가 플라스틱의 용도 (The Applications of Antioxidant Impregnated Polymers to Food Packaging)

  • 플라스틱 포장재의 주요 기능은 식품을 수송, 보관과정에서 안전하게 보존하는 것이다. 식품과 플라스틱 포장재간의 반응은 식품의 품질과 안전성 문제에 있어서 상당한 이슈가 되고 있는데 이는 주로 플라스틱에 남아있는 잔류용제, 단량체, 첨가물 등이 식품으로 전이되는 문제들이다. 플라스틱 포장재에 항산화제를 첨가하는 것은 필름의 열화는 물론 포장된 식품, 특히 유지가 많은 제품의 산화를 막을 수 있다. 현재 BHT와 같은 항산화제를 플라스틱 포장재에 적용하는 것이 상업화되어 제품의 유통기간을 연장시키는 방법으로 사용되고 있다. Alpha tocopherol은 가장 중요한 자유기 제거제의 하나로 생물 시스템에는 잘 알려져 있는데 이것을 포장재에 사용함으로써 생산자와 소비자 모두 매우 긍정적인 반응을 보이고 있다. Alpha tocopherol은 폴리올레핀계 레진에 적용되어 BHT를 대체하고 있다. 이 연구는 포장재와 제품간의 증발-흡착 메카니즘을 이용한 항산화제의 효과와 그 적용, 그리고 이러한 메카니즘을 예측할 수 있는 분석기법을 설명하였다.

여러 조건하(條件下)에서 저장(貯藏)된 감자튀김의 산패(酸敗)에 있어서 BHA와 Ascorbic Acid의 상대적(相對的) 억제효과(抑制效果)에 대(對)하여 (Relative Effectiveness of BHA and Ascorbic Acid in Retarding the Rancidity Development of Potato Chips Stored in Various Conditions)

  • BHA (0.05%), ascorbic acid (0.1%) 그리고. BHA (0.05%)+ascorbic acid (0.1%)를 각각 첨가시킨 감자튀김을 여러 조건하에서 저장할 때 이들 BHA, As.A 및 BHA+As. A의 상대적인 산패억제 효과를 비교 관찰하였다. 즉 감자튀김을 암소(暗所)에서 $33{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$로 저장하였을 때는 감자튀김의 산패억제에 대한 BHA의 효과는 매우 컸다. Ascorbic acid도 상당한 항산화 효과를 보였으나 BHA 보다는 약하였으며, 한편 BHA와 ascorbic acid를 동시에 처리하였을 때에는 그 효과는 BHA 단독의 경우와 거의 같았다. 투명, 무색 Polypropylene film으로 덮은 감자튀김을 하루 6시간씩 일사광선에 조사(照射)시키면서 저장하였을 때는 BHA의 항산화력은 상당히 감소되었으며, 한편 ascorbic acid의 항산화력은 거의 완전히 상실되었다. 그러나 황색으로 착색된 투명 polypropylene film을 대신 사용하였을 경우에는 BHA는 그 항산화력을 상당히 잘 유지하였다. 한편, ascorbic acid는 이와 같은 조건하에서도 그 항산화력을 거의 상실하였다.

도라지 유기재배시 피복재료에 따른 생육 및 약용성분 변화 (Effect of Mulching Materials on the Growth and Medicinal Ingredients in Platycodon grandiflorum Radix Organic Cultivation)

  • 이 연구는 도라지의 유기재배를 위하여 피복물 처리에 따른 도라지 뿌리의 생육특성 및 사포닌, 항산화 활성에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 실시되었다. 3년근 도라지를 이식 후, 흑색 비닐, 톱밥, 쌀겨 및 무피복구의 뿌리의 길이는 비닐, 톱밥, 무피복구에서 24.0~27.5 cm로 길었으며, 직경에서는 비닐 피복구에서 가장 굵은 30.0 mm로 나타났다. 지근의 수도 비닐 피복구에서 가장 많은 36.0개로 조사되었으며, 수량과 관련성이 있는 생체중은 지근의 수와 직경이 가장 굵었던 비닐 피복구에서 130 g으로 가장 높게 나타났으며 무피복구에서 56 g으로 가장 낮게 나타났다. plantycodin D3와 deapioplatycodin D 함량은 톱밥 피복구에서 가장 높게 나타났으며, 도라지의 총 polyphenol 및 flavonoid 함량은 비닐 피복구에서 각각 11.0, 8.6 mg/g으로 가장 높게 나타났다. Polygalacin D와 ABTS와의 상관관계는 $-0.591^*$로 부의 상관관계를 보였으나, 나머지 성분에서는 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 도라지 유기 재배 시 피복재료에 따른 뿌리의 특성, 사포닌함량과 항산화성분 등의 유의적인 차이가 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Evaluation of Antioxidant Potential and UV Protective Properties of Four Bacterial Pigments

  • In the present study, four distinctly colored bacterial isolates that show intense pigmentation upon brief ultraviolet (UV) light exposure are chosen. The strains are identified as Micrococcus luteus (Milky yellow), Cryseobacterium pallidum (Yellow), Cryseobacterium spp. (Golden yellow), and Kocuria turfanensis (Pink) based on their morphological and 16S rDNA analysis. Moderate salinity (1.25%), 25-37℃ temperature, and pH of 7.2 are found to be the most favorable conditions of growth and pigment production for all the selected isolates. The pigments are extracted using methanol: chloroform (1:1) and the purity of the pigments are confirmed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Further, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and UV-Visible spectroscopy indicate their resemblance with carotenoids and flexirubin family. The antioxidant activities of the pigments are estimated, and, all the pigments have shown significant antioxidant efficacy in 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH), and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. The UV protective property of the pigments is determined by cling-film assay, wherein, at least 25% of UV sensitive Escherichia coli survive with bio-pigments even after 90 seconds of UV exposure compared to control. The pigments also hold a good sun protective factor (SPF) value (1.5-4.9) which is calculated with the Mansur equation. Based on these results, it can be predicted that these bacterial pigments can be further developed into a promising antioxidant and UV-protectant for several biomedical applications.

항산화 성분을 함유한 PE 필름이 반건오징어 저장 중 지질산화에 미치는 영향 (Preparation of Antioxidative Polyethylene Film and Its Effects on the Lipid Oxidation of Semi-dried Squid during Storage)

  • Antioxidative polyethylene films for food packaging were experimentally prepared by fortification of TBHQ(tertiary butylhydroquinone) and dl-a-tocopherol at the weight ratio of 0.05, 0.2 and 0.5%, respectively and laminated with nylon. TBHQ and tocopherol contents in the PE/nylon film were analyzed and the antioxidative effects of film were investigated on the lipid oxidation of semi-dried squid during storage at 5℃ and l5℃. TBHQ contents of TAP 1(TBHQ 0.05%), TAP 2(TBHQ 0.2%) and TAP 3(0.5%) were 38, 146 and 365 mg/100g, respectively. Tocopherol contents of DAP l(tocopherol 0.05%), DAP 2(tocopherol 0.2%) and DAP 3(tocopherol 0.5%) were 33, 139 and 356 mg/l00g, respectively. TBA value and POV during storage of semi-drid squid were affected both by storage temperatures and packaging films. Lipid oxidation during storage was retarded by anti-oxidative films, as TBA value of TAP 3 and DAP 3 revealed about 50% of control after storage at 5℃ for 20 days and similer effects in POV were also observed.

Antioxidant and Bioactive Films to Enhance Food Quality and Phytochemical Production during Ripening

  • Antioxidant films are one active packaging technology that can extend food shelf-life through preventing lipid oxidation, stabilizing color, maintaining sensory properties and delaying microbial growth in foods. Because raw, fresh and minimal processed foods are more perishable during storage or under display conditions than further processed foods, they rapidly lose their original quality. Foods are susceptible to physical, chemical, and biochemical hazards to which packaging films can be effective barriers. Although films incorporated natural (tocopherols, flavonoids and phenolic acids) or synthetic antioxidants (BHT, BHA, TBHQ, propyl gallate) have been extensively tested to improve quality and safety of various foods, food applications require addressing issues such as physical properties, chemical action, cost, and legal approval. Increased interest in natural antioxidants as substitutes for synthetic antioxidants has triggered research on use of the new natural antioxidants in films and coatings. Use of new components (phytochemicals) as film additives can improve food quality and human health. The biosynthesis of plant phenolics can potentially be optimized by active coatings on harvested fruits and vegetables. These coatings can trigger the plants natural proline-linked pentose phosphate pathway to increase the phenolic contents and maintain overall plant tissue quality. This alternate metabolic pathway has been proposed by Dr. K. Shetty and is supported by numerous studies. A new generation of active food films will not only preserve the food, but increase food's nutritional quality by optimizing raw food biochemical production of phytochemicals.

PVDF 필름 위에 제작된 고전도도 Ag 나노와이어 투명전극 특성 연구 (Characterization of Ag Nanowire Transparent Electrode Fabricated on PVDF Film)

  • In this study, we have successfully fabricated a highly conductive transparent electrode using Ag nanowires, based on piezoelectric polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) film, that can be applied as transparent and flexible speakers. The structural morphology of the Ag nanowires was confirmed by a detailed scanning electron microscopy. Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy demonstrated that the transparent electrode fabricated by the Ag nanowires exhibited a transmittance of above 70%. The transparent electrode also showed very low sheet resistance with high flexibility. We have further developed an anti-oxidation coating layer by using a tetraethyl orthosilicate-poly trimethyloxyphenylsilane (TEOS-PTMS) slurry technique. It was confirmed that the transmittance and sheet resistance of the antioxidant film depends critically on the humidity of the film surface. We believe such Ag nanowire electrodes are a very promising next-generation transparent electrode technology that can be used in future flexible and transparent devices.

고분자 분쇄 공정을 이용한 대추 소재 가식성 필름 개발 (Zizyphus jujube-based Edible Film Development by the Depolymerization Processes)

  • 본 연구에서는 대추를 필름 형태의 식품 소재로 개발하였다. 대추 필름 제작에 고분자 분쇄 방법으로 사용된 HPH는 대추 필름의 인장 강도와 수분 투과도를 향상시켰다. 기존에 개발된 많은 다른 생고분자 필름보다 높은 인장 강도와 낮은 수분 투과도는 열접합강도와 함께 식품에 있어 HPH 대추 필름의 상업적 적용 가능성을 보여주었다. 대추 필름은 대추 고유의 형태와 크기에 제한 없이 여러 식품에 코팅 또는 롤 형태로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

TiO2/ZnS/Ag/ZnS/TiO2 다층막의 PDP 필터용 전극 특성 (Transparent Electrode Performance of TiO2/ZnS/Ag/ZnS/TiO2 Multi-Layer for PDP Filter)

  • The $TiO_2$/ZnS/Ag/ZnS/$TiO_2$ multilayered structure for the transparent electrodes in plasma display panel was designed by essential macleod program (EMP) and the multilayered film was deposited on a glass substrate by direct-current (DC)/radio-frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering system. During film deposition process, the Ag layer in $TiO_2$/Ag/$TiO_2$ structure became oxidized and the filter characteristic was degraded easily. In this study, ZnS layer was adopted as a diffusion blocking layer between $TiO_2$ and Ag to prevent the oxidation of Ag layer efficiently in $TiO_2$/ZnS/Ag/ZnS/$TiO_2$ structure. Based on the AES depth profiling analysis, the Ag layer was effectively protected by the ZnS layer as compared with the $TiO_2$/Ag/$TiO_2$ multilayered films without ZnS as an antioxidant layer. The 3 times stacked $TiO_2$/ZnS/Ag/ZnS/$TiO_2$ films have low sheet resistance of $1.22{\Omega}/{\square}$ and luminous transmittance was as high as 62% in the visible ranges.

황금(黃芩)을 이용한 아토피성 피부용 한방화장품 제형화에 관한 연구 (Study on the Development of Cosmetic Emulsion Cream for Patients with Atopic Dermatitis using Scutellaria Baicalensis)

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to determine if Scutellaria baicalensis can be used in cosmetic emulsion cream for patients with atopic dermatitis. Methods : Scutellaria baicalensis extract was obtained with the use of butylene glycol through the pressurized solvent extraction(PSE). The antioxidative activity was assessed through SOD-like activity measurement and skin irritating potential was tested using human patch test. Antimicrobial activity was measured by the clear zone formed against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and the rheological effects on the emulsion creams were examined using oscillation test. Results : The SOD-like activity increased dose-dependently and was about 90% at 1,000ppm of Scutellaria baicalesis extract. And Scutellaria baicalensis extract did not show any potential to be irritating to the human skin, but it could not be used as an antimicrobial agent for its poor antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The complex modulus decreased by 1,000 pascals and the loss angle also decreased by 20% with the addition of Scutellaria baicalensis extract into the cosmetic emulsion creams, that is, the extract can confer more elastic property on the vehicle. Conclusion : From those results, Scutellaria baicalensis extract can be effectively used as an antioxidant and reinforces the elastic skincare film formed by the application of cream for patients with atopic dermatitis.
