  • It is important to test and evaluate the variation degree of ship-mounted antenna radiated power with respect to all directions in order to use more effectively antennas that installed on naval ships. The naval ship has various sensors for navigation, communication and electronic warfare, etc. And the performance of these sensors extremely depends on the various characteristics of antenna system to transmit and receive electromagnetic wave. The radiated power pattern of the antenna differs from all aspect angles of the ship because of complex superstructures. It is important to know the weak point(direction) of antenna radiation for appropriate operation. Therefore, the ARP(Antenna Radiation Pattern) of shipboard antennas is measured for the all aspect angles. The results of ARP measurement are utilized as reference for antenna arrangement of newly-built same class warship. This study also describes the development results for the ARP measurement technique, software design and test procedures to measure the radiation pattern of communication equipment antennas using the fixed test site.

  • This paper presents the classical site attenuation characteristics of a forced resonant electromagnetic interference (EMI) dipole antenna for frequencies below 80 MHz. The coupled integral equations for unknown current distribution are solved by the Galerkin's method of moments with piecewise sinusoidal functions. The results show that the forced resonant type EMI dipole antenna for frequencies below 80 MHz can be used effectively for measuring the classical site attenuation of horizontal polarization. The theoretical site attenuation curves presented can be used as reference curves for evaluating the performance of an open area test site.

  • This paper showed that theoretical site attenuation curves were obtained simply by the method of moments analysis for current integral equations on antennas. Since the expansion coefficients of driving and receiving points were calculated from the method of moments procedure, site attenuations were evaluated simply using these basic antenna parameters. Theoretical site attenuations were calculated with half-wave resonant dipoles connected directly to a 50 ohm receiving system and connected to a 72/50 ohm matching network, respectively. Results were compared with other theoretical studies reported so far. Also included were experimental results for site attenuations to prove the validity of theoretical analysis.

  • This paper presents the normalized site attenuation characteristics for frequencies below 80 ㎒ using forced resonant type EMI dipole antennas. The coupled integral equations for unknown current distribution are solved by the Galerkin's method of moments with piecewise sinusoidal functions. The results show that the forced resonant type EMI dipole antenna for frequencies below 80 ㎒ can be used effectively for the measuring normalized site attenuation. The calculated normalized site attenuation curves for the forced resonant type EMI dipole antenna are useful in determining the suitability of open area test sites.

  • We designed the hal wavelength dipole antennal which can be used for he determination of the suitability of an antenna test site and considered the characteristic of antenna factors by using the moment methods. Antennal factors remain almost constant with negligible variations for the variations of $\pm$1 mm antenna dimention-radius and length. comparisons are mae between measured values and calculated results for the input impedance.

  • Satellite orbit determination using angles only data from single ground station is carried out. The KOMPSAT-1 satellite mono-pulse angle tracking data from 9-meter S-band antenna at KARI site in Daejeon are used for the orbit determination. Various angle tracking arcs from one-day to five-day are processed and the orbit determination results are analyzed. Antenna pointing data are predicted based on the orbit determination results to check the possibility of re-acquisition and tracking of the satellite signal. Normal satellite mission operations including orbit determination, antenna prediction, satellite re-acquisition and automatic tracking from predicted antenna angle pointing data are concluded to be possible when three-day angle tracking data from single tracking station are used for the orbit determination.

  • In the Korea's SBAS(KASS), reference site is an important infrastructure facility for the collecting and monitoring GPS/GEO signals. The SBAS reference station has an clear requirements than other regular monitoring stations. It requires constant maintenance during the system operation. The development for KRS site should be prepared for site survey, site construction, antenna geodetic survey, equipment installation and operation. Site survey is initially performed as an important step to predict site availability and system performance. The operation center must provide the reference site, equipment room, and appurtenant to satisfy the site requirements. The position of antennas is very important information, and accuracy must be secured through the geodetic survey. Measurement collected at the from precise antenna are provided to the KASS processing station. The position of antenna should be maintained through continuous position checks and updates during the operation. When the development of the KRS site is completed, it performs tasks for installing and operating the KRS equipment. In this paper, we presented the procedures and some results for the development of the 7 KRS sites.

  • The transmission bandwidth of shorted-monopole antenna in the frequency range of LF and MF was analyzed and the transmission mode considering the permissible data rate dependant on the transmission bandwidth was analyzed in this paper. Based on the required ERP, the output power of transmitter was deduced by considering the antenna efficiency. The analyses are for DGPS and time information transmission system in the frequency range of 283.5kHz and 65kHz respectively. The transmission antenna was modeled as TLM antenna that designed in the limited antenna site. The antenna equivalent circuit and antenna bandwidth were deduced based on the simulation analysis of antenna characteristics. The analyzed antenna bandwidth was compared with the simulated antenna bandwidth. Also the transmission mode for transmitter of LF and MF was proposed by considering the antenna bandwidth.

  • It is necessary to check the fault of phased array antenna, when the active phased array radar installed in the site is suspected performance degradation due to external impact or long-term operation. However, the near-field test should be performed in anechoic chamber in order to measure the phased array antenna, so that much time and cost must be applied for radar disassembly and transportation, and the operational availability of the radar system is deteriorates. Therefore, we propose a near-field scanner with mobility to check the fault of the phased array antenna at the site, and the effectiveness of the proposed scanner was verified with ${\pm}0.5dB$ magnitude and ${\pm}1.5^{\circ}$ phase in comparison with measured data in anechoic chamber.
