  • In this paper, a novel log periodic cantor koch dipole antenna(LPCKDA), which is composed of the cantor Koch dipole elements instead of the Koch dipole elements, is proposed to reduce the size of the log periodic koch dipole antenna(LPKDA). To investigate the reliability of the proposed antenna, the LPCKDA is designed and analyzed at 0.5~1.5 GHz and compared with the LPKDA(Log Periodic Koch Dipole Antenna) characteristic. It is shown that although the proposed LPCKDA has a decreases of 5 % in the length of the dipole elements, radiation characteristics of LPCKDA are similar to radiation characteristics of the LPKDA.

  • The effect of a finite substrate size on the radiation characteristics of a two-element linear E-plane array antenna using microstrip patch antennas is investigated. The average active element pattern characteristics of two-element E-plane array antennas printed on different dielectric constant substrates with various substrate sizes and element spacings are analyzed. Using the average active element pattern, the radiation pattern characteristics of the array antenna versus scan angle is analyzed. The simulation results show that the diffracted fields of surface waves from substrate edges have a significant effect on the radiation characteristics of a 2-element E-plane array antenna. The distance between the center of patch antenna and the substrate edges on the E-plane for the enhancement of radiation characteristics of the array antenna is about $0.35{\lambda}_0$.

  • Substitution of the stacked antenna for the normally pressed antenna in the mobile phone was tried for the purpose of decreasing its size. However, reduced size resulted in the difficulties obtaining the targeted characteristics with the bandwidth over 70MHz. The cross-section of the vias in the low temperature co-firing ceramics process was studied to find out effects on the bandwidth characteristics. Circular and rectangular cross-section of the via beneath different types of antenna patterns were simulated. Better bandwidth characteristics were acquired for the larger diameter of the circular section and for the rectangular section as the cross-section area increased. From the viewpoint of the shape of the cross-section, rectangular area showed better characteristics than the circular area with the same longest length in the cross-section.

  • In this paper Log-Periodic Bent Dipole Antenna(LPBDA), which is composed of bent dipole elements instead of dipole elements, is proposed to reduce the size of Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna(LPDA). LPBDA for the operating frequency band of 1 ㎓∼3 ㎓ is designed and its radiation characteristics are analyzed by the moment method, and compared with radiation characteristics of LPDA. It is shown that although LPBDA decreases in size by about 20 %, radiation characteristics of LPBDA are similar to radiation characteristics of LPDA. Calculated results show good agreement with measured results.

  • This paper proposes a unidirectional beam antenna using a probe excited circular ring near the reflector. The antenna structure is simple. The radiation characteristics of the antenna fur various spacing between a probe excited circular ring and the reflector are analyzed. These characteristics are also compared with the conventional single aperture near the reflector. It is found that the proposed structure yields better characteristics than the conventional structure. The numerical results of the radiation pattern, elevational beam peak, beamwidth, and maximum directivity are investigated. The result of the analysis is very useful to design the antenna of the high directivity with unidirectional beam.

  • In the microstrip antenna, insulator is filled only between its main radiator and the base conductor. In experiment, it is verified that the characteristic of microstrip antenna at 94 % of the operating frequency coincide with the characteristics of the Practical antenna, if its characteristics are analyged to the case that the entire space of the antenna is filled with the same insulator Experimental results support the theoretical validity.

  • In this paper, a microstrip antenna is designed using a rectangular patch. To find characteristics of the antenna, computer simulations of the rectangular single microstrip patch antenna are performed with changing width and feed line. And we found characteristics of RHCP using axial ratio. Through the results, we found that the Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method is an effective method for designing microstrip patch antenna. According to simulation the resonant point has been found it in the frequency received from GPS satellite. And these results were in relatively good accordance with the measured values.

  • This paper proposes four-ring slot resonator-based MIMO antennas of 75×150 mm2 without and with CSRR structures in the sub-6-GHz range. These orthogonal-fed antennas have shown diverse characteristics with dual polarization. L-shaped parasitic structures have increased the isolation (i.e., >40 dB) in the single-element antenna over the band of 3.4 GHz-3.8 GHz. A set of three CSRR structures in the MIMO antenna reduced the coupling between antenna ports placed in an inline arrangement and enhanced the isolation from 12 dB to 20 dB and the diversity characteristics. The S-parameters of both MIMO antennas are measured and used to evaluate MIMO parameters like ECC, TARC, MEG, and channel capacity loss. The simulation results show the variations in the gain and directivity on exciting linear and dual polarizations. The diversity performance of the reported MIMO antennas is suitable for 5G applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a mobile Radio Frequency Identification antenna for mobile hand set. The proposed antenna with directive radiation characteristics based on combination of electric-magnetic radiators can be installed in the mobile hand-set. The combination of PIFA antenna for electric radiator and loop antenna for magnetic radiator is presented and designed for료 m-RFID reader system. Target frequency band is 900-MHz band. and desired gain is 4dBi. The antenna is simulated using Ansoft HFSS software and shows expected results. The antenna is also manufactured using FR4-epoxy circuit board (h=1 mm, $\varepsilon_{\tau}=4.4$). There are good agreements between the simulated and measured VSWR curves and radiation characteristics.

  • A wide-band multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with dual-band (2.4 and 5 GHz) operation is proposed for premium indoor access points (IAPs). Typically, an omni-directional pattern is used for dipole antennas and a directional radiation pattern is used for patch antennas. In this paper, both antenna types were used to compare their performance with that of the proposed $2{\times}2$ MIMO antenna. We simulated and measured the performance of the MIMO antenna, including the isolation, envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), mean effective gain (MEG) for the IAPs, and the throughput, in order to determine its communication quality. The performance of the antennas was analyzed according to the ECC and MEG. The proposed antenna has sufficient performance and excellent characteristics, making it suitable for IAPs. We analyzed the communication performance of wireless networks using the throughput data of a typical office environment. The network throughput of an 802.11n device was used for the comparison and was conducted according to the antenna type. The results showed that the values of the ECC, MEG, and the throughput have unique characteristics in terms of their directivity, antenna gains, isolation, etc. This paper also discusses the communication performance of various aspects of MIMO in multipath situations.
