Several types of chemical bactericides have been used to control fire blight. However, their excessive usage leads to environmental deterioration. Therefore, several researchers have analyzed antagonistic microorganisms as promising, effective, and safe biological control agents (BCAs). The primary aim of this study was to screen for potential antagonistic bacteria that suppress Erwinia amylovora. Among the 45 isolates studied, 5 strains showed the largest inhibition zone against E. amylovora. 16S rRNA gene sequencing identified them as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (KPB 15), B. stratosphericus (KPB 21), B. altitudinis (KPB 25), B. safensis (KPB 31), and B. subtilis (KPB 39). KPB 25 and 31 reduced the lesion size of fire blight by 50% in immature apple fruits, and did not show antagonism against each other. Therefore, KPB 25 and 31 were selected to develop an antagonistic mixture against fire blight. Although the mixture with KPB 25 and 31 showed a slightly increased ability to reduce lesion size on immature fruits, they did not exhibit a synergistic effect in reducing E. amylovora population compared to each strain alone. Nevertheless, we have identified these two strains as useful and novel BCAs against fire blight with additional benefits safety and potential in developing a mixture without loss of their activity, owing to the absence of antagonism against each other.
This study was conducted to examine the antagonism of useful microbes against soybean sprout rotting pathogens and their effect on the growth of soybean sprouts. The antagonism against soybean sprout rotting pathogens and the effect on the growth of soybean sprouts were examined by using P. areofacience 14H-3, P. fluorescens R1-12 and B. cereus Yell, bacteria were shown to inhibit mycellial growth of Rhizotonia solani strongly. The results of this study are summarized as follows. P. areofacience 14H-3 and B. cereus Yell were highly antagonistic against Rizoctonia solani, while they were especially highly antagonistic against bacterial diseases. The effect of inhibiting the proliferation of soybean sprout rotting pathogens was also examined by adding the culture solution for antagonistic bacteria to the PDA. Both P. areofacience 14H-3 and P. fluorescens Rl-12 showed the inhibition rate of 78.8%, while B. cereus Yell did 52.9%. The fresh weight and length of soybean sprouts were measured after raising them with added antagonistic microbes and culture medium. Soybean sprouts treated with B. cereus Yell showed increased higher, compared with those not treated with it. Soybean sprouts were also raised in the culture solution with antagonistic bacteria to examine the growth of soybean sprouts. Soybean sprouts treated with the culture solution of 200 times showed better growth than those not treated with it. Analyze proximate composition in soybean sprout showed that moisture, ash, total sugar did not appear difference, but in case of crude protein B. cereus Yell(8.9%) increased about 2 times than control(3.6%), but occasion of crude fat and crude fiber were P. areofacience 14H-3, P. fluorescens Rl-12 increased about each 2 times than control. In occasion of vitamin, bacterial antagonist(9.4∼10.8mg%) was more higher than control(9.9mg%).
To determine the effect of dietary potassium and lysine levels on blood parameters, serum and bone composition, 360 male broiler chicks of 3 days of age were used in a completely randomized $3{\times}3$ factorial experiment for 6 weeks. Experimental diets contained three supplemented levels of dietary potassium (0.3, 0.6 and 1.2%) and three supplemented levels of dietary lysine (0.6, 1.2 and 2.4%). Dietary levels of potassium and lysine did not influence blood pH, $pCO_2$, $pO_2$, $HCO_3$ and total $CO_2$ and interaction between potassium and lysine was not shown (p > 0.05). Serum lysine and arginine contents were significantly different by the levels of dietary lysine (p < 0.05). Lysine-arginine antagonism was observed in high lysine diet. But increasing dietary potassium did not alleviated the lysine-arginine antagonism. Serum sodium, potassium and chloride were not affected by dietary potassium and lysine levels (p > 0.05). Femur weight, length and P contents were affected by the levels of dietary lysine (p < 0.01). But no difference was observed in femur ash and Ca contents (p > 0.05). Interaction between potassium and lysine was shown in ash and P contents (p < 0.01).

These studies were performed to investigate the acting sites of ginseng total saponins (GTS) on the U-50, 488H-induced antinociception and the inhibitory effect of the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception by GTS were studied. The U-50, 488H-induced antinociception was ntagonized in mice pretreated with GTS intraperitoneally, intracerebrally. These antagonisms were reversed by the pretratment iwth a serotonin precursor, 5-hydroxytrypophan (5-HTP), but not with a noradrenaline precursor, L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA). However, the intraplantar sites. On the other hand, GTS inhibited the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception was reversed by pretreatment with 5-HTP, but not with L-DOPA. Therefore, the antagonism of U-50, 488H-induced antinociception and the inhibition of the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception and the inhibition of the development of tolerance to U-50, 488H-induced antinociception by GTS are dependent on serotonegic mechanisms.

This study was undertaken to determine the effects of ginseng total saponin (GTS) on stress- induced analgesia (SIA) in mice. intermittent foot shock (FS)-SIA was antagonized not by on but by naloxone in the tail flick FS-SIA which was not antagonized by naloxone in the T.F. test. On the other hand, GTS did not antagonize the continuous FS-SIA naloxone antagonized in the T.P. test. Also GTS antagonized psychological (PSIF)-SIA which was not antagonized by naloxone in the T.F. test. However, GTS did not antagonize the PSY-SIA which naloxone antagonized in the T.P. test. Forced swimming (FSIP)-SIA was not affected by both GTS and naloxone. These results suggest that the antapeonisms of intermittent FS-SIA in the T.F. test, continuous FS-SIA and PSY-SIA by GTS are mediated by non-opioid mechanisms but the antagonism of intermittent FS-SIA in the T.P. test by GTS is mediated by opioid mechanism.
The development of satisfactory alternatives for supplying the nutrients needed by crops could decrease the problems associated with conventional NPK chemical fertilizers. In this study, the effects of bacterial and fungal effective microorganisms (EM) on the growth of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa) were evaluated. This investigation was carried out parrallel with conventional NPK chemical fertilizer and a commercial sold microbial fertilizer to compare between each of their effect. Sterile water and molasses were served as controls. Azotobacter chroococcum effect also was studied either alone or in combination with the effective microorganisms on the growth parameters. In contrast to the bacterial EM, the fungal EM alone without A. chroococcum had a more stimulating effect than fungal EM combined with A. chroococcum. Results showed that seedling inoculation significantly enhanced B. rapa growth. Shoot dry and fresh weight, and leaf length and width significantly were increased by both bacterial and fungal inoculation. The results indicated that the NPK chemical fertilizer deteriorates the microflora inhabiting the soil, while the effective microorganisms either fungal or bacterial ones increased the microbial density significantly. This study implies that both of fungal and bacterial EM are effective for the improvement of the Chinese cabbage growth and enhance the microorganisms in soil. The results showed antagonism occurred between A. chroococcum and each of Penicillium sp and Trichoderma sp in both agar and plant assays. The data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Dunnett test.
This article's purpose is to overcome the inadequacy of deliberative democracy for communication on the basis of Haewonsangsaeng. The inadequacy of deliberative democracy for communication is presented as the following two. First, as deliberative democracy treats civic virtue as instrumental thing, deliberative democracy is still in moral solipsism. Second, as deliberative democracy doesn't consider 'the inequality of power' among diverse political positions, the project of deliberative democracy for communication ends up in the exposure of the inequality of power among diverse political positions. Sangsaeng in Haewonsangsaeng concerned with inter-relationship over individualism treats civic virtue as original motility. In this context, Sangsaeng in Haewonsangsaeng is the alternative notion to overcome the first inadequacy of deliberative democracy for communication. Haewon in Haewonsangsaengas is the condition for Sangsaeng. and Haewon's method is to exclude or to eliminate the structural frame of Sanggeuk meaning mutual conflict and antagonism. This article presents two structural frame of Sanggeuk. First, First structural obstacle as internal obstacle is suggested through analyzing pluralism on the basis of existential philosophy. The result of the analysis is the 'antagonism' between the hegemonical value and the peripheral value. Second structural obstacle as external obstacle is the extinction of public sphere caused by the growth of market and the expansion of bureaucracy.
Field and pot expeiments were carried out to evaluate the interaction between quinclorac and bensulfuron-methyl on growth of the rice plants(Oryza sativa L. cv. Choocheongbyeo) at 20, 45, 65 days-old stages. Quinclorac and bensulfuron-methyl showed antagonistic interaction at both stages, which were detected by the Chisaka's method at isobles of 10% growth inhibition. The antagonism indices were -0.63 and -1.67 at 20 and 65 days-old seedling stages, respectively. Leaf-rolling of rice occurred when quinclorac was applied at 600g ai/ha or more at 20 days-old seedling stage, while it occured at the dose of 900g ai/ha at 65 days-old stage. Bensulfuron-methyl reduced plant height and dry weight as well as tiller production at both stages. Leaf-rolling of rice was reduced when mixture of quinclorac and bensulfuron-methyl was applied due to antagonism of the two herbicides. High temperatures increased the phytotoxicity of bensulfuron-methyl, while the phytotoxicity caused by quinclorac alone was not responsive to temperature. The antagonistic effect between quinclorac and bensulfuron-methyl increased at low temperature as tested by the Colby's method.

The pharmacological profile of KR-31081, a nonpeptide $AT_1$ selective angiotensin receptor antagonist, was investigated by receptor binding studies, functional in vitro assays with rabbit aorta. KR-31081 inhibited the specific binding of $[^{125}I]\;[Sar^1,\;Ile^8]$-angiotensin II to human recombinant $AT_1$ receptor with an 8.6-fold greater potency than losartan ($IC_{50}$: 1.43 and 12.3 nM, respectively), but it did not inhibit the binding of [$^{125}I$] CGP 42112A to human recombinant $AT_2$ receptor ($IC_{50}$: higher than $10{\mu}M$ for both). The Hill coefficient for the competition curve of KR-31081 against $AT_1$ receptor was not significantly different from unity (0.99). Scatchard analysis showed that KR-31081 interacted with human recombinant $AT_1$ receptor in a competitive manner, as with losartan. In functional studies with rabbit aorta, KR-31081 competitively inhibited the contractile response to angiotensin II ($pK_B$ values: 8.66) with 20-70% decrease in the maximum contractile responses, unlike losartan that showed competitive antagonism without any change in the maximum contractile responses to angiotensin II ($pA_2$ values: 7.59). These results suggest that KR-31081 is a highly potent $AT_1$ selective angiotensin II receptor antagonist with a mode of insurmountable antagonism to be developed as the exploratory potential of this compound.
