Torsional analysis of heterogeneous magnetic circular cylinder

  • In this paper, the exact closed-form solutions for torsional analysis of heterogeneous magnetostrictive circular cylinder are derived. The cylinder is subjected to the action of a magnetic field produced by a constant longitudinal current density. It is also acted upon by a particular kind of shearing stress at its upper base. The rigidity of the cylinder is graded through its axial direction from one material at the lower base to another material at the upper base. The distributions of circumferential displacement and shear stresses are presented through the radial and axial directions of the cylinder. The influence of the magnetostrictive parameter is discussed. The effects of additional parameters are investigated.

  • The characteristics of slow wave structure employed for backward wave oscillator expected to be a high power microwave source are studied analytically. The slow wave structure is a sinusodially corrugated wall waveguide. The waveguide is designed and transmitted characteristics for microwave are measured in the air. There exist literatures on high efficiency of enhansed radiation from backward wave oscillators involving plasmastudied experimentally another results.

  • High temperature superconducting YBCO films have been grown on MgO substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) with Nd:YAG laser Superconducting microwave filter was fabricated by conventional photolithography method. We have designed filter with the center frequency of 14 GHz. We have measured the center frequency of filter at 77 K and its critical temperature 89K. Also we have designed another filter to compare frequency responses. The measured frequency responses will be presented.

An Experimental Study on Installation of the Shielding Material to Reduce the Shock Noise of a Gun (화포소음 저감을 위한 차폐재 설치에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The paper represents the experimental analysis of the shock noise of medium caliber guns when a projectile is passed through the shielding material. In the study, the shielding material was constructed and tested in three separate experiments. The shielding material was not installed for medium caliber gun in Case 1. A medium caliber gun was fully covered with shielding material in Case 2, and another one was put with shielding material near muzzle in Case 3. In each experiment, the experimental data was compared with each other. Results showed the firing shielding material achieved a significant noise reduction in $90^{\circ}$ to the noise source. Case 3 is confirmed to be better effective than Case 2 in the near field. But, the noise reduction in the far field is small in quantity due to the low frequency. The paper is considered that further study is necessary for the shielding material which can absorb a low frequency noise in the future.

This study is on deacidification of paper materials for enhancing useful life of information. This study can be summerized as follews; The material needs deacidification is all of machine-made paper except neutral paper, and hand made paper which are below pH 6.5. The best way for the deacidification for the small amount of materals is to use aqueous deacidifiers such as Calcium Carbonate, Magnesuim Carbonate and Borax.   • The material for the machine tool structure should have high static stiffiness and damping in its property to improve both the static and dynamic performances. The static stiffness of a machine tool can be inceased by using either higher modulus material in the structure of a machine tool. However, the machine tool structrue with high stiffness but low damping is vulnerable to vibration at the resonance frequencies of the structure . For the high precision and highsped machine tool structure, therefore, the high damping capacity is most important in order to suppress vibration. The damping of a machine tool can not be increased by increasing the static stiffness. The best way to increase the damping capacity of the machine tool structure is to use a composite material which is composed of on material with high stiffness with low damping and another material with low stiffness with high damping. Therefore, in this paper, the bed of the ultra high precision grinding machine for mirror surface machining of brittle materials such as ceramics and composite materials was designed and manufactured with the epoxy concrete material. The epoxy concrete material was prepared by mixing epoxy resin with different size sands and gravels. The modulus, compressive strength, coefficient of thermal expansion, specific heat, and damping factor were measured by varying the compaction ratio, sizes and contents of the ingredients to assess the effect of the processing parameters on the mechanical properties of the material. Based of the measured properties, the prototype epoxy resin concrete bed for the mirror surface CNC grinding machine was designed and manufactured.

  • Sound absorbing materials used for lightweight panels and interior material are mainly made of fibroid material such as glass wool or rock wool. However these fiber type sound absorbing materials have some problems such that sound absorption could be decreased as time goes by because of durability. In addition, dust scattering from fiber type material can cause another problem in health. In this point of view, this study aims to develop environment friendly sound absorbing material using Hwangto(so called loess or yellow soil), a traditional housing material. Hwangto is natural housing material in Korea and generally known for improving indoor air quality. Hwangto panel is made to construct on the floor, wall and ceiling, and expected that there is not enough absorption. Present study tried to develop environment friendly sound absorbing material that has high sound absorption performance with good environment performance in terms of air quality. Pore rate was designed to maximize the absorption in the specific frequency bands, and two kinds of backing space were applied in order to see the effect of backing space. As a result peak frequency that has maximum absorption is going high as the pore rate is increased. The backing space provides more absorption and makes the peak frequency down to low.

  • To fabricate YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{x}$ thick film using diffusion process, $Y_2$BaCuO$_{5}$ and BaO+CuO as the material of substrate and the doping material were selected. CeO$_2$ in the doping material was mixed. As another doping material, YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{x}$ was prepared for the comparison with BaO+CuO doping material. Each doping material was patterned on $Y_2$BaCuO$_{5}$ substrate by the screen printing method and then was annealed above peritectic reaction temperature of YBCO with a few step. It could be observed by X-ray diffraction patterns and SEM photographs that through the diffusion process of the $Y_2$BaCuO$_{5}$ and BaO+CuO, the YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{x}$ phase was formed. With an amout of addition of CeO$_2$, the thickness of a formed YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{x}$ decreased. x/ decreased.

Literature Review on Research Methodology Assessing Properties of Moxibustion (뜸의 특성 연구 방법론에 대한 문헌고찰)

  • Objectives : The aim of this review was to summarize and assess researches reporting thermal properties of moxibustion. Methods and Materials : We searched one electronic database(PubMed) and two journals(The Journal of Korean Medicine and The Journal of Korean Acupuncture & Moxibustion Society) and for the articles published until Nov. 2012. The articles reporting thermal characteristic of moxibustion were selected and reviewed. 31 articles were included and assessed in this review. The type of moxibustion, the material beneath moxbustion, main outcome and the amount of information were reviewed. The amount of information was defined as 1 for one main outcome reported in each article. Results : Direct moxibustion were used in 15 articles and indirect moxibustion were used in 19 articles. 11 researches used anti-heating plate for the material beneath moxibustion, one article used steel ring, agar with anti-heating plate, six articles used skin and another six articles used heater. Two articles used animals and another two articles used metals. The mean value of the amount of information was $4.41{\pm}2.94$(SD). Conclusions : Research articles assessing properties of moxibustion have been consistently published since 1993, and employed various methodologies. The amount of information has been associated with four section analysis and is currently decreasing. Research assessing properties of moxibustion with clinical effectiveness is needed.
