음이온 발생 공기청정기에 의한 밀폐된 실내공간에서의 ETS성분 변화 (Effect of Anion Generating Air Cleaner on the Components of ETS in a Closed Room)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the ability of anion generating air cleaner to remove gases, vapor and particles from closed room contaminated with environmental tobacco smoke (ETS). The measurements covered particle sizes of 13.8-542.5nm, particle concentration, surface area, volumes UVPM, FPM, solanesol, and the following gases and vapor; carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nicotine, and 3-ethenylpyridine. Tobacco smoke was generated and mixed in a closed room in which the airflow rates were in the range of 0.00-0.04 m/s. The anion generating air cleaner was startedl and the decay rates for the gases, vapor and particles were measured, When the use of anion generating air cleaner, solid components of ETS, such as respirable suspended particle (RSP), utraviolet particulate matter (UVPM, fluorescent particulate matter (FPM) and solanesol was sharply decreased, and vapor phase components of ETS, such as nicotines 3-ethenylpyidine were modelately decreased by time elapse. Even the use of anion generation air cleaner, the decreasing rate of carbon dioxide concentration was similar with control, and the decreasing rate of carbon monoxide was slower than that of control. Our results indicated that the use of anion generting air cleaner had an effect on reduction of solid and vapor components from ETs, but it had no effect on gaseous components of ETS.

唐津과 安眠島地域 降水 成分의 變化特性에 關한 硏究 (A Study on the Transition Characteristics of Precipitation Components in Dangjin and Anmyon-do Area)

  • In this study, we are going to compare the chemical composition of the precipitation that falls in the Dangjin and Anmyon-do areas by analyzing the water soluble components (anion and cation). We also examined the effects of seasonal change and regional difference in those data sets. The [$NO_3\;^- \;+\;SO_4\;^{2-}$] at 49.2${\mu}$eq/l is 67% of the total anion of 73.1${\mu}$eq/l, while that of [$NH_4\;^+\;+\;Ca^{2+}$] at 37.7${\mu}$eq/l is 62% of the cation in Dangjin area. Also, the [$NO_3\;^-\;+\;SO_4\;^{2-}$] concentration of 151.8 (${\mu}$eq/l) is 62% for the total anion of 143.5 (${\mu}$eq/l), and the [$NH_4\;^+\;+\;Ca^{2+}$] concentration of 119.7 (${\mu}$eq/l) is 47% for the cation of 254.3 (${\mu}$eq/l) in Anmyon-do area. The ion composition ratio is shown for the order by 22% of $SO_4\;^{2-}$, 20.8% of $NH_4\;^+$ and 15.4% of $Cl^-$ that is the sum of 58.7% for the total ion composition in Dangjin area, and is the order by 33.8% of $NH_4\;^+$, 16.3% of $SO_4\;^{2-}$ and 11.1% of $Cl^-$ in Anmyon-do area. Furthermore, We predicted that even areas which were previously clean will get acid rain if there is large scale construction there or nearby.

음이온 교환막 알칼리 수전해를 위한 운전 조건 및 구성요소의 최적화 (Optimization of Operating Parameters and Components for Water Electrolysis Using Anion Exchange Membrane)

  • The hydrogen has been recognized as a clean, nonpolluting and unlimited energy source that can solve fossil fuel depletion and environmental pollution problems at the same time. Water electrolysis has been the most attractive technology in a way to produce hydrogen because it does not emit any pollutants compared to other method such as natural gas steam reforming and coal gasification etc. In order to improve efficiency and durability of the water electrolysis, comprehensive studies for highly active and stable electrocatalysts have been performed. The platinum group metal (PGM; Pt, Ru, Pd, Rh, etc.) electrocatalysts indicated a higher activity and stability compared with other transition metals in harsh condition such as acid solution. It is necessary to develop inexpensive non-noble metal catalysts such as transition metal oxides because the PGM catalysts is expensive materials with insufficient it's reserves. The optimization of operating parameter and the components is also important factor to develop an efficient water electrolysis cell. In this study, we optimized the operating parameter and components such as the type of AEM and density of gas diffusion layer (GDL) and the temperature/concentration of the electrolyte solution for the anion exchange membrane water electrolysis cell (AEMWEC) with the transition metal oxide alloy anode and cathode electrocatalysts. The maximum current density was $345.8mA/cm^2$ with parameter and component optimization.

Flavonoids and chlorogenic acid from Eriobotrya japonica scavenge peroxynitrite

  • Peroxynitrite is a cytotoxic intermediate produced by the reaction between the superoxide anion radical and nitric oxide. Flavonoids (afzelin, quercitrin and quercetin 3-O-sambubioside), and chlorogenic acid and its methyl ester obtained from leaves of loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) have recently been shown to scavenge 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical and to inhibit lipid peroxidation in mouse liver homogenate. The aim of this study is to investigate the inhibitory effects of the above components on peroxynitrite produced stimulated by 3-morpholinosydnonimine (SIN-1) to produce superoxide anion radical and nitric oxide at the same time. In addition, the present study tests whether or not the components directly scavenge peroxynitrite itself. The results showed that the components with the aromatic ortho-dihydroxyl groups (catechol) were more potent inhibitors of peroxynitrite formation by SIN-1. In particular, the methyl ester form of chlorogenic acid showed the most potent inhibition. At $5\;{\mu}M$ concentration, the order of minimizing peroxynitrite formation were : methyl chlorogenic acid > quercitrin > quercetin 3-O-sambubioside > chlorogenic acid > afzelin. Authentic peroxynitrite was directly scavenged by the components in a manner similar to peroxynitrite formation by SIN-1. In particular, when compared with penicillamine as a positive control, methyl chlorogenate was as effective in inhibiting peroxynitrite formation and approximately 2 times more effective in scavenging an authentic peroxynitrite. These results demonstrate therefore, that components extracted from the leaves of Eriobotrya japonica effectively scavenged peroxynitrite.

Studies on Constituents of Higher Fungi of Korea(LXVIII) -Antitumor Components of the Cultured Mycelia of Gonoderma lucidum-

  • To find antitumor components in the hot water extract of the cultured mycelia of Ganoderma lucidum, protein-bound polysaccharides were purified and fractionated (Fr. I-V) by DEAE-cellulose ion exchange column chromatography and Sepbarose CL-4B gel filtration. When a dose of 20 mg/kg/day of each was, i.p., injected into ICR mice, the inhibition ratios against the solid form of sarcoma 180 were $64.2{\sim}75.8%$. The antitumor component was examined for immunological activity. It increased the amount of superoxide anion released by induced macrophages in peritoneal cavity to 1.8 times and the count of hemolytic plaque-forming cells (PFC) was increased to 4.4 times as compared with those of the control group. It contained 68.6% polysaccharide which consisted of mannose, glucose, galactose, fucose and xylose and 5.1% protein consisting of 17 amino acids. The contents of hexosamine were 0.78%. The molecular weight of Fr. V that showed the highest antitumor activity was $5.8{\times}10^4$ dalton by Sepharose CL-4B gel filtration. It was named lucidan.

장기간의 부추식이가 ICR 마우스의 간과 피부조직의 활성산소종 생성에 미치는 영향 (The Long Term Effect of Buchu (Chinese chives) Diet on ROS Formation in the Liver and Skin Tissue of ICR mice)

  • To investigate the long term effect of buchu (Chinese chives) diet on ROS formation in the liver and stin tissue of ICR mice, one of control, 2% or 5% buchu-added diet was fed to ICR mice for 12 months. Superoxide anion (O2ㆍ), hydrogen peroxide($H_2O$$_2$) and hydroxyl radical (ㆍOH) contents were measured in cytosol, microsome, mitochondria of liver and skin of mice, respectively. Behu diet showed a significant decrease of superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radical contents in liver and skin tissues compared to control diet, and this effect is especially higer at 5% than at 2% buchu diet level. ICR mice showed an age-dependent increase in ROS contents, while the group fed buchu diet decreased its ROS contents significantly and ROS contents of liver appeared to be 2 fold higher than skin. The results of the present study suggest that antioxidative components and sulfur-compounds in buchu diet appear to be responsible for the inhibition of ROS formation in ICR mice.

건조방법에 따른 해조류(감태)의 주요성분 및 항산화 활성의 변화 (The Changes in the Chemical Components and Antioxidant Activities in Ecklonia Cava According to the Drying Methods)

  • This study examined the changes in the chemical components and antioxidant activity of Ecklonia cava according to the drying methods. As chemical components, the concentrations of minerals(K, Ca, Na, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn), vitamins(vitamin C, ${\beta}$-carotene and ${\alpha}$-tocopherol) and the total polyphenols were analyzed. In additions, the antioxidant activity was determined by measuring the free radical(DPPH radical, superoxide anion radical, hydroxyl radical and hydrogen peroxide) scavenging activity and the linoleic acid peroxidation inhibitory activity. The mineral content was not affected by the drying methods. However, more vitamins were lost and the total polyphenol concentration was reduced as a result of sun-drying than by the other drying methods used. More of the total polyphenol was preserved by freezing-drying than by any of the other drying methods, which meant that there was a higher antioxidant activity after freeze drying.

부산지역 PM2.5와 PM10의 농도 특성 (Characteristics of PM2.5 and PM10 Concentration in Pusan Area)

  • 여러 가지 대기오염물질을 규제대상으로 지정하여 대기중으로 방출되는 대기오염물질에 대한 적절한 처리와 방지를 통하여 대기질을 개선하는 작업이 필요하다. 특히 도시지역의 경우 이들 오염물질 중 시정의 악화, 인체보건학상 급 만성 장애를 초래하며, 재산상의 피해를 주는 분진 에 대해 최근 관심이 모아지고 있다. 이러한 분진의 농도 중가에 따른 피해를 저감시키기 위해서 는, 먼지의 농도 특성 자료에 근거한 적절한 통제전략을 수립할 필요가 있다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구는 부산지역의 도시분진 오염도에 대한 적절한 관리를 위해 부산지역의 대기중 $PM_{2.5}$의 질량농도 및 수용성 음이온성분($Cl^-$, $NO_3{^-}$, $SO_4{^{2-}}$)의 농도 특성을 $PM_{10}$의 경우와 대비하여 비교 평가하였다. 시료채취기간은 1999년 5월부터 1999년 11월까지이며, 각 38회의 $PM_{2.5}$$PM_{10}$의 시료를 채취하여, 그 질량농도와 수용성 음이온성분 ($Cl^-$, $NO_3{^-}$, $SO_4{^{2-}}$) 의 농도 특성을 분석하였다. $PM_{2.5}$의 전체기간동안 평균농도는 $35.016{\mu}g/m^3$으로 산정되었으며, $PM_{10}$ 평균농도 ($50.293{\mu}g/m^3$)에 대한 $PM_{2.5}$의 질량농도비 평균은 0.692로 산정되었다. $PM_{2.5}$ 중 수용성 음이온성분의 전체평균농도는 각각 $1.581(Cl^-)$, $3.690(NO_3{^-})$ 그리고 $12.825(SO_4{^{2-}}){\mu}g/m^3$으로 나타났으며, $PM_{10}$은 각각 $2.471(Cl^-)$, $5.819(NO_3{^-})$ 그리고 $14.414(SO_4{^{2-}}){\mu}g/m^3$으로 나타났다. 각 성분들간의 상관분석을 시행한 결과, $PM_{2.5}$$PM_{10}$ 질량농도의 상관성은 0.945로 상당히 높은 상관관계를 나타내었다. $PM_{2.5}$ 질량농도와 각 성분들간에는 $Cl^-$(0.025), $NO_3{^-}$(0.788), 그리고 $PM_{10}$ 질량농도와는 $Cl^-$(-0.019), $NO_3{^-}$(0.806), 그리고 $SO_4{^{2-}}$)(0.535)의 상관성을 나타내었다.

  • $C_{18}$ 칼럼을 정지상으로 사용한 역상 액체크로마토그래피에서 수소성이 약한 tetramethylammonium bromide(TMAB)를 반대이온으로 사용하여 방향족 술폰산들의 머무름기구를 조사해 본 결과, 이온-쌍 모델이 우세하였다. 분석물질들의 용량인자는 반대이온의 종류와 농도, 메탄올과 co-anion의 농도, 분석물질속에 있는 작용기의 종류와 위치 및 이동상의 pH 등의 영향을 받았다. 최적 조건하에서 분석물질들의 혼합물을 효과적으로 분리할 수 있었다.
