  • We propose a novel non-photorealistic rendering technique which generates a cutout animation from a video for UCC. Our method consists of four parts. First, we construct an interactive system to build an articulated character. Second, we extract motions from an input video. Third, we transform motions of a character in order to reflect characteristics of cutout animations. Fourth, we render the extracted or transformed components in cutout animation style. We developed a unified system for a user to easily create a cutout animation from an input video and showed the system generated a cutout animation efficiently.

  • Fine art production methods are frequently incorporated into animation production. The Printing Expression method is often employed among fine art production. There are three main techniques in Printing Expression: Silk Screen, Woodcut and Etching. Animations that use Silk Screen and Woodcut techniques are quite common. However, it is rare to find Etching techniques in animations. So with that being said, I would like to introduce etching animation through the work of Piotr Dumala; the well known Ink Etched film director. Also, I analyzed the characters: movement, unique texture and sensuous feeling; that only mezzotinted Etched-Animation expression technique can show. If we can expand methods on how to show our imagination through etching techniques, it can allow many directors to produce etched animation films in which they can express their imagination.

  • The purpose of this paper is constructed a HEEAAS(Human Emotional Expression Animaion System), which is an animation system to show both the face and the body motion from the inputted voice about just 4 types of emotions such as fear, dislike, surprise and normal. To implement our paper, we chose the korean young man in his twenties who was to show appropriate emotions the most correctly. Also, we have focused on reducing the processing time about making the real animation in making both face and body codes of emotions from the inputted voice signal. That is, we can reduce the search time to use the binary search technique from the face and body motion databases, Throughout the experiment, we have a 99.9% accuracy of the real emotional expression in the cartoon animation.

  • This study is aiming for make people understanding the importance of animation as a compulsory subject in designing World Wide Web. Specifically analyses of the basic theories and concepts of animation are given in the study to help web designer can get advantages from them. Few examples of some common factors which is being shared by both traditional animations and animations in web design. Highlighted issue in this study, however, is that we do not have many web sites organised by one who has proper animation training. This is underlined as a reason of imperfect web design we are able to see recently. As a proposal of solution, you'll see the training methods of animation, to have well planned web designs.

  • While speech animation generation employing deep learning has been actively researched for English, there has been no prior work for Korean. Given the fact, this paper for the very first time employs supervised deep learning to generate Korean speech animation. By doing so, we find out the significant effect of deep learning being able to make speech animation research come down to speech recognition research which is the predominating technique. Also, we study the way to make best use of the effect for Korean speech animation generation. The effect can contribute to efficiently and efficaciously revitalizing the recently inactive Korean speech animation research, by clarifying the top priority research target. This paper performs this process: (i) it chooses blendshape animation technique, (ii) implements the deep-learning model in the master-servant pipeline of the automatic speech recognition (ASR) module and the facial action coding (FAC) module, (iii) makes Korean speech facial motion capture dataset, (iv) prepares two comparison deep learning models (one model adopts the English ASR module, the other model adopts the Korean ASR module, however both models adopt the same basic structure for their FAC modules), and (v) train the FAC modules of both models dependently on their ASR modules. The user study demonstrates that the model which adopts the Korean ASR module and dependently trains its FAC module (getting 4.2/5.0 points) generates decisively much more natural Korean speech animations than the model which adopts the English ASR module and dependently trains its FAC module (getting 2.7/5.0 points). The result confirms the aforementioned effect showing that the quality of the Korean speech animation comes down to the accuracy of Korean ASR.

  • In the base of tale stories, main character in Henry Selick's works is always faced with CAOS situation such as the separated world as two part real and cyber. That makes audience feel the sense of the real. I concentrated to research how audiences' estimate was formed and reversed and what type of surrealism techniques will happened in the animation for the near future. Animation will be shown the new possibilities with extension and harmony of all kinds of arts expression. This paper examines the study of animations by Henry Selick who is the world famous stop-motion animation director, production Art director. The case works are focused on 'Depaysement technique of Surrealism' in his works.

  • In computer graphics, most animations of characters have been created using the traditional and often highly labor intensive key-framing technique. Recently, character animation is demanded increasingly automated techniques for animation according to interaction with the user or environment of the user. In this paper, we will propose a new method which can animate characters automatical/y with user interactions. The character's behavior is determined as a result of understanding the emotional condition of the user. Psychology and cognitive AI provide some ideas about how to approach this problem. Our study is based mostly on the theories of Ortony, Clore and Collins, which were designed to be implemented computationally. In our system, we can make 22 emotion types and some more behavior features and we apply to some characters.

  • Stop-motion is a technique that should be in the basic stage of the animation education, as it gives a chance for students to learn a three-dimensional sense about the movement, just to name a few, as this technique can give movements to actual objects in real life. As the old animation education is consist of forms to make a short animation. most students got a situation that they should be reeducated about 'movement' at their work after graduation from the school. It is necessary to have a systematic education about basic movement for 16 weeks to solve the problem under these circumstances. Therefore this researcher came to seek a more effective way for students who aim to major in stop-motion as well as students who try to nurture their basic capability of animation. This study aimed to present the optimized education model for the basic stage of the stop-motion technique specifically around expressions such as 'walking/ free-movement/ facial expression'.

  • Simulation tools are widely used for performance evaluation of newly proposed systems. However, many industrial simulation projects fail to attain the original goals ,especially when very complicated decision logics of the experienced operatorsare needed to be modeled. We propose a technique to overcome the oabstacles. In the proposed technique, complicated decision logics are not directly modeled but an interface for interactive input is provided in the model. While running the simulation model in concurrent animation mode, whenever operator's decisions are needed an interfce screen is displayed for operator's decisions. The operator then makes decisions using the information which is provided by the animation proces itself. This technique was successfully applied to an industrial simulation projects in which alternatives were evaluated for increasingthe color lot size of car print shop.
