The Study on Marker-less Tracking Algorithm Performance based on Mobile Augmented Reality (모바일 증강현실 기반의 마커리스 추적 알고리즘 성능 연구)

  • Augmented reality (AR) is augmented virtual information on the real world with real-time. And user can interact with information. In this paper, Marker-less tracking algorithm has been studied, for implement the augmented reality system on a mobile environment. In marker-less augmented reality, users do not need to attach the markers, and constrained the location. So, it's convenient to use. For marker-less tracking, I use the SURF algorithm based on feature point extraction in this paper. The SURF algorithm can be used on mobile devices because of the computational complexity is low. However, the SURF algorithm optimization work is not suitable for mobile devices. Therefore, in this paper, in order to the suitable tracking in mobile devices, the SURF algorithm was tested in a variety of environments. And ways to optimize has been studied.

Numerical Study of the Flow Characteristics in a Diesel Exhaust System with a Vane-Type Static Mixer (베인 타입 스태틱 믹서의 기하학적 변수에 따른 디젤 배기관 내 유동특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this research, a numerical study was carried out on the mixing and flow characteristics of a vane-type static mixer for the reduction of $NO_x$ in the SCR systems from the diesel exhaust environments. The mixer was located at a distance of 57 times the pipe diameter away from the inlet. The analyses were performed by changing various parameters such as vane angles, blockage ratio, and location of the vane. Flow characteristics through the mixer were characterized by the uniformity index, swirl number, and pressure drop. The results show that uniformity index, pressure coefficient and swirl number are substantially influenced by the vane angle, blockage ratio and position of the vane of the mixer. In particular, the swirl number was increased when the vane was located near the pipe wall, or the vane angle was increased or scale was extended.

  • With the increasing number of chronic disease patients, the importance of everyday health care has grown more significant. The study researchers expected it would help for patients' health improvement and healthcare service expansion if users check their vital signs in their daily lives and send the results to a medical center's servers through a specific device automatically. This thesis, in line with this idea, seeks to develop a portable healthcare gateway. The gateway is designed in a USB type and can transmit standardized data, operating regardless of a user's location and Personal Healthcare Devices (PHDs). The developed portable healthcare gateway provides effective services in ubiquitous environments to customers, which will improve the health of chronic patients.

Changes of Sedimentary Environment in the Saemangeum Tidal Flat on the West Coast of Korea (새만금 갯벌의 퇴적환경 변화)

  • The Saemangeum tidal flat with an area of approxirnately $233km^2$ is one of the biggest estuarine tidal flats on the west coast of Korea. Because of its location in the estuary of Mangyeong and Dongjin Rivers, the tidal flat receives large amount of sediments. A 33-km long sea dyke, enclosing a coastal zone of $401km^2$, was constructed to reclaim tidal flat in the Saemangeum area. The dyke construction radically changes the local tidal current regime and estuarine circulation. These have an effect on sedimentary environments in the tidal flat. On the tidal flats of the study area net deposition occurred, but net erosion occurred near tidal channel in 2004. The comparison of topography and surface sediments in summer 2004 with those in summer 1988 before the dyke construction showed that elevation increased with maximum 80cm and mean grain sizes were fining at Gwanghwal tidal flats. Sedimentary facies of two cores from Gwanghwal tidal flat revealed homogeneous layers in the upper part suggesting rapid deposition after the dyke construction. The sedimentation rate in Gwanghwal tidal flat(GW 6) using $^{210}Pb$ analysis was about 5.4cm/yr which is well matched with the sedimentation pattern revealed by change in topography.

Bow Structure Design of the FPSO installed in the North Sea under the Flare Slamming Load (북해설치 FPSO의 플레어 슬래밍 하중에 대응한 선수 설계)

  • This paper is about the bow structure design of the ship-typed and turret moored FPSO which is subjected to the bow-flare slamming load in harsh North Sea environments. Quad 204 FPSO project involves the redevelopment of the existing Schiehallion FPSO which is damaged by impact wave loads. Normally all offshore systems including FPSO are designed to withstand the 100 year storm I.e. the storm that happens once every hundred years at the location where the system is installed. Several incidents have revealed that impact loading is important issue for moored floating production systems. In this paper, the design impact loads are estimated considering the ship owner’s specification, measured data from model tests, requirements of the classification society rules and results of numerical simulation analyses. The impact pressure by numerical analysis is 1.8 times greater than required value by CSR adopted by IACS. Based on the selected design load, plastic design formulae allowing the local material yielding are applied for the initial scantling of the bow structure. To verify the structural integrity, FE analyses are carried out considering the local area subjected to the impact wave loads. Their results such as structural arrangement, design loads and scantlings are shown and discussed. It is found that plastic design formulae in adopting Initial design phase give sufficiently conservative results in terms of structural strength.

  • In this paper, we developed the BMSWare(Bridge Management System Middleware) for bridge safety surveillance in real time processing. The developed system operates on web and considers the general monitoring application for bridges. In various environments in geographical location of bridge, it can obtain reliably data from various logger and sensors without re-programming. The main functions of the developed system include the acquisition, processing, backup and transmission of the collected sensor data. It was proved to be the safety and effectiveness by application of Mooyeong bridge.

Estimating Human Size in 2D Image for Improvement of Detection Speed in Indoor Environments (실내 환경에서 검출 속도 개선을 위한 2D 영상에서의 사람 크기 예측)

  • The performance of human detection system is affected by camera location and view angle. In 2D image acquired from such camera settings, humans are displayed in different sizes. Detecting all the humans with diverse sizes poses a difficulty in realizing a real-time system. However, if the size of a human in an image can be predicted, the processing time of human detection would be greatly reduced. In this paper, we propose a method that estimates human size by constructing an indoor scene in 3D space. Since the human has constant size everywhere in 3D space, it is possible to estimate accurate human size in 2D image by projecting 3D human into the image space. Experimental results validate that a human size can be predicted from the proposed method and that machine-learning based detection methods can yield the reduction of the processing time.

Image Based Human Action Recognition System to Support the Blind (시각장애인 보조를 위한 영상기반 휴먼 행동 인식 시스템)

  • In this paper we develop a novel human action recognition system based on communication between an ear-mounted Bluetooth camera and an action recognition server to aid scene recognition for the blind. First, if the blind capture an image of a specific location using the ear-mounted camera, the captured image is transmitted to the recognition server using a smartphone that is synchronized with the camera. The recognition server sequentially performs human detection, object detection and action recognition by analyzing human poses. The recognized action information is retransmitted to the smartphone and the user can hear the action information through the text-to-speech (TTS). Experimental results using the proposed system showed a 60.7% action recognition performance on the test data captured in indoor and outdoor environments.

Route Optimization Using a Limited Prefix Delegation Method in Multi-level Nested Mobile Network Environments (다단 중첩된 이동네트워크 환경에서 제한된 프리픽스 위임 방법을 이용한 경로최적화)

  • Nowadays, requests of connecting to the Internet while moving are increasing more and more, and various technologies have been developed for satisfying those requests. The IETF nemo WG standardized "Network Mobility Basic Support Protocol" for supporting mobile network through extending existing MIPv6 protocol for supporting host mobility. But, mobile networks can be nested while they are changing their location. And if they are multi -level nested, that causes some problems because of protocol characteristic. In this paper, we try to solve the problem that is complicated routing path caused by multi-level nesting of mobile networks with our limited prefix delegation method. We give a little modification to the standard protocol and add some functions to mobile router. With results from analysis, we could say that our method has better performance than other proposed methods.

  • A MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network) is a multi-hop routing protocol formed by a collection without the intervention of infrastructure. So the MANET also depended on the property as like variable energy, high degree of mobility, location environments of nodes etc. Generally the various clustering technique and routing algorithm would have proposed for improving the energy efficiency. One of the popular approach methods is a cluster-based routing algorithm using in MANET. In this paper, we propose an algorithm techniques which is TICC (Time Interval Clustering Control) based on energy value in property of each node for solving cluster problem. It provides improving cluster energy efficiency how can being node manage to order each node's energy level. TICC could be able to manage the clustering, re-configuration, maintenance and detection of Node in MANET. Furthermore, the results of modeling shown that Node's energy efficiency and lifetime are improved in MANET.
