Since non-corrosive Fiber Reinforced Polymer(FRP) tendons have been in increasing use for underground and coastal structures constantly contacted with fresh water or sea water because of their superiority to metallic ones in corrosion-resistance, new non-metallic anchoring system for FRP tendons has been developed and investigated to verify the effectiveness of tendon force, which consist of mainly FRP pipes and Highly Expansive Mortar(HEM). The major factors considered in this experiment were expansive pressures of HEM during its hydration, sleeve lengths and types, and anchoring methods of tendon. New anchoring system were investigated from the pull-out tests. The pull-out procedures of the FRP tendons in the various pipe filled with HEM were analyzed and improved ideas were suggested to develop novel non-metallic anchoring system for FRP tendons The pull-out tests for the FRP tendon and new non-metallic anchoring system were conducted. The results show that non-metallic anchoring system for the FRP tendon has been more stablized due to the gradual expansive pressrure of HEM, as tims goes. Since tile lower stiffness of FRP pipes causes the weakness of anchoring force, it requires the increase of stiffness using a carbon fiber or an increased section area.
Vocal folds injury from vocal abuse is important topics of phonosurgery. Recent advances in diagnostic equipment, phonosurgery and speech analysis equipment have provided a lot of Information about fine movement of the vocal folds. However, predicting the reaction of the vocal folds to phonatory trauma remains difficult. The vocal folds need to withstand great vibratory and shearing stress and anchoring fibers of basement membrane Bone play a role in maintaining structural integrity of histologically different epidermis and superficial layer of lamina propria(cover of vocal folds). The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the changes of anchoring fibers in vocal polyp using transmission electron microscope. Various defects were observed : a irregular thickening of basement membrane, a near absence of normal anchoring fiber, a lot of electron dense material in superficial layer of lamina propria, a destruction of hemidesmosome and many vesicles carrying electron dense material In basal keratinocyte. These observations were suggestive of a hyperactivity of basal keratinocyte of vocal folds epithelium in response to vibratory stress.
Anchoring systems with structural stability and endurance have been one of the most important elements for PSC structures, especially for the structures using non-corrosive FRP tendons. FRP tendons are in increasing use for underground and coastal structures constantly contacted with fresh water or sea water because of their superiority to metallic ones in corrosion-resistance. In this study new non-metallic anchoring system for FRP tendons has been tested and investigated. The newly developed anchoring system utilizes FRP pipes and HEM (Highly Expansive Mortar). The major factors considered in this experiment were expansive pressure of HEM during its hydration and the strength of GFRP(Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic) Pipe. Anchoring forces of the new anchoring system were investigated from the pull-out testes. The authors analyzed pull-out procedures of the FRP tendons in the various pipe filled with HEM and suggested an improved idea to develop novel non-metallic anchoring system for FRP tendons
Carbon fiber sheets are widely used for strengthening the deteriorated RC structures. However most studies on the strengthening method of RC structures with carbon fiber sheets are concerning static problems. The purpose of this experimental study is to present the basic data on fatigue behaviors of. RC beams strengthened with carbon fiber sheets. The experimental parameters of this study are ; 1) the existence of U-shaped carbon fiber sheets at the ends for anchoring, 2) the number of carbon fiber sheet layers in strengthening the RC beams, 3) the load levels of $60\%\~90\%$ of the static bending moment strength, which is obtained form the static tests. Experimental results are estimated from the relationships of load level, displacement, number of repeated load and released energy. It is concluded that U-shaped carbon fiber sheets for end anchoring is very effective and the beams strengthened with one layer of carbon fiber sheet have longer fatigue life than that with three layers.
Recently in abroad, structural synthetic fiber developed, has been studied extensively as a substitute for steel fiber due to its properties such as corrosion-resistance, low density, good pumping, and in-place safety, etc. In this study, we conducted pull-out test, for seven different geometries of structural synthetic fibers and obtained optimum geometry for structural synthetic fiber which fully utilizes matrix anchoring without revealing fiber fracturing. According to pull-out test results, it was found that crimped type structural synthetic fiber give significant improvement in the interface toughness(roll-out enemy) and pull-out load.

In-situ photopolymerization of alkyl acrylate monomers in the presence of a nematic fluid provides a cellular matrix of liquid crystalline droplets in which the chemical structure of the encapsulating polymer exerts control over the alignment (anchoring) of the liquid crystalline molecules. Control is obtained by variation of the alkyl side chains and through copolymerization of two dissimilar monofunctional acrylates. Two monofunctional acrylates with opposing tendencies on copolymerization provide control over the tunability of anchoring over a wide temperature range. Using various acrylates we show that a uniform vertical alignment can be achieved over a large area. Utilizing this technique and a nematic with negative dielectric anisotropy, we have fabricated highly flexible liquid crytal based devices, with high contrast and fast response time, without using any alignment layer.
본 연구에서는 전단강도 증가를 위해 GSP(Glass fiber-Steel composite Plate)로 전단보강된 RC 보의 실험한 결과를 제시한다.

The director profiles of the Bloch walls are directly visualized using fluorescence confocal polarizing microscopy. Both pure twist Bloch walls and diffuse Bloch walls are analyzed. Polar anchoring energy was measured from optical simulation of the transmitted light interference pattern or the fluorescence intensity profile of a pure twist wall..
Many composite girder bridges have been constructed for about thirty five years. Nowadays they are aged or deteriorated because of th increase in traffic and vehicle loads. In this study, the effect of strengthening with glass fiber sheet is investigated to estimate the possibility for appling for damaged prestressed concrete bridges. One normal and eight cracked specimens which had been preloaded were tested. The cracked specimens were strengthened with either external prestressing or bonding glass fiber sheet, or using both methods. The results showed that the maximum loads are almost same for both methods. So it seems that the strengthening with glass fiber sheet can be used for strengthening damaged prestressed concrete girders. It is important that proper devices should be selected to prevent glass fiber sheet from premature bonding failure below its maximum load, which is similar to end anchorage problem in external prestressing method. It is proved that the devices proposed in this paper have sufficient anchoring capability to increase load carrying capacity.
