The stability margin of the LQ regulator is investigated in the time domain. it is shown that the same guaranteed gain margin as that of the frequency domain analysis can be obtained with simple assumptions for the continuous time systems. It is also shown that the allowable modelling error bound can be expressed in terms of system matrices and Riccati equation solution. Guaranteed qain. margin and the allowable modelling error bound for the discrete time systems are also obtained by the similar procedures. In this case, through the some examples, the gain margin is shown to be less conservative than the frequency domain analysis result.
The rigid-plastic finite element analysis requires a large amount of computation time due to its non-linearity. For economic computation, mismatching refinement, and efficient domain decomposition method with different mesh density for each sub domain, is developed. A modified velocity alternating scheme for the interface treatment is proposed in order to obtain good convergence and accuracy. As a numerical example, the axisymmetric extrusion process is analyzed. The results are discussed for the various velocity update schemes form the viewpoint of convergence and accuracy. The three-dimen-sional extrusion process with rectangular section is analyzed in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Comparing the results with those of the conventional method of full region analysis, the accuracy and the computational efficiency of the proposed method are then discussed.
Interfacial stresses at two-material interfaces and initial displacement field over the entire domain are obtained by modifying the potential energy functional with a penalty function, which enforces continuity of the stresses at the interface of two materials. Based on the initial displacement field and interfacial stresses, a new methodology to generate a continuous stress field over the entire domain has been proposed by combining the modified projection method of stress-smoothing and Loubignac's iterative method of improving the displacement field. Stress analysis is carried out on two examples made of dissimilar materials : one is a two-material cantilever composed of highly dissimilar materials and the other is a zirconium-lined cladding tube made of slightly dissimilar materials. Results of the analysis show that the proposed method provides an improved continuous stress field over the entire domain, and accurately predicts the nodal stresses at the interface, while the conventional displacement-based finite element method produces significant stress discontinuities at the interface. In addition, the total strain energy evaluated from the improved continuous stress field converges to the exact value in a few iterations.

This research presented a frequency analysis method to analyze NRRO in a computer hard disk drive. RRO was proved to be the harmonics of rotational frequency. The frequency components of NRRO is the subtraction of the harmonics from TIR in frequency domain, so that NRRO in time domain can be obtained by Fourier inverse transformation of NRRO in frequency domain. This method can make the experiments simple without the index signal indispensable to time domain analysis. This research also shows that NRRO is caused by the defect frequencies of ball bearing. Even though the excitation force of ball bearing is independent of the rotational speed, the amplitude of NRRO is magnified near the resonance frequencies of the spindle motor. NRRO in axial direction is almost twice bigger than that in radial direction, because the spindle motor has smaller stiffness in axial direction.
This paper presents a restart iterative approach for time-domain flutter analysis of long-span bridges using the commercial FE package ANSYS. This approach utilizes the recursive formats of impulse-response-function expressions for bridge's aeroelastic forces. Nonlinear dynamic equilibrium equations are iteratively solved by using the restart technique in ANSYS, which enable the equilibrium state of system to get back to last moment absolutely during iterations. The condition for the onset of flutter instability becomes that, at a certain wind velocity, the amplitude of vibration is invariant with time. A long-span suspension bridge was taken as a numerical example to verify the applicability and accuracy of the proposed method by comparing calculated results with wind tunnel tests. The proposed method enables the bridge designers and engineering practitioners to carry out time-domain flutter analysis of bridges in commercial FE package ANSYS.
The energetics of defects in the presence of domain walls in $LiNbO_3$ are characterized using density-functional theory calculations. Domain walls show stronger interactions with antisite defects than with interstitial defects or vacancies. As a result, antisite defects act as a strong pinning center for the domain wall in $LiNbO_3$. Analysis of migration behavior of the antisite defects across the domain wall shows that the migration barrier of the antisite defects is significantly high, such that the migration of antisite defects across the domain wall is energetically not preferable. However, further study on excess electrons shows that the migration barrier of antisite defects can be lowered by changing the charge states of the antisite defects. So, excess electrons can enhance the migration of antisite defects and thus facilitate domain wall movement by weakening the pinning effect.
The purpose of this study was using a meta-analysis to estimate effect size of school violence prevention program. Using an objective and systematic method, meta-analysis has advantages that prove intervention's amount and direction. Meta-analysis facilitates comprehensive analysis. Through the data collection, 33studies were selected and 129 effect size were calculated as analysis objects. The overall effect size of school violence prevention program was 0.624. In the human characteristic, the affective domain had the largest effect size. Next were the physical domain, cognitive domain, the social domain and the complex domain. Analysis on age of participant, high grade elementary students group had the largest effect size. Next were the high school students, middle school students and the lower grade elementary students group. Analysis on intervention periods, tertiary prevention had a largest effect size. Next were secondary prevention and primary prevention. Based on the findings, implications for future study were discussed.
Traditional co-integration analysis method is known to be difficult to clearly determine the relationship between the cointegrated variables. This study utilizes a fractional cointegation method and a causal analysis of time and frequency domain among the exchange rates of Korea, China and Japan. The results show that even though traditional cointegration methods did not clarify the existence of cointegration, exchange rates were fractionally cointegrated. Causal analysis of time domain and frequency domain provided somewhat different results, but the yen/dollar was useful for forecasting won/dollar and yuan/dollar. Proper use of causal analysis of frequency domain and fractional cointegration emthods may provide useful information that can not be explained from the traditional method.
A numerical procedure is described for simultaneously predicting the motion and structural responses of tension leg platforms (TLPs) in multi-directional irregular waves. The developed numerical approach is based on a combination of a three dimensional source distribution method, the finite element method for structurally treating the space frame elements and a spectral analysis technique of directional waves. The spectral description for the linear responses of a structure in the frequency domain is sufficient to completely define the responses. This is because both the wave inputs and the responses are stationary Gaussian ran dom process of which the statistical properties in the amplitude domain are well known. The hydrodynamic interactions among TLP members, such as columns and pontoons, are included in the motion and structural analysis. The effect of wave directionality has been pointed out on the first order motion, tether forces and structural responses of a TLP in multi-directional irregular waves.

Aeroelastic gust response analysis plays an important role in design of aircrafts. For gust response analysis, frequency domain aerodynamics method has been typically used with generalized aerodynamic influence coefficient matrices at various reduced frequencies. However, it cannot be applied to the aeroservoelastic analysis, such as gust alleviation control. Time-domain state space (SS) models must be built. It attacks little attention that gust response analysis relies on continuous gust time-domain input signal in terms of its PSD function. The aim the current study is to provide a reduced-order modeling (ROM) method based on CFD to model gust responses for continuous gust responses for continuou gust inputs in time domain. The paper analyzed the gust response of AGARD445.6 wing subjected to the Dryden gust with ROMs and compared the difference between the rigid structure and elastic one. The results demonstrate that structure elastic effect effect should be considered in the design of aircraft.
