확률론적 평가를 이용한 원자력발전소 소내전력공급계통 신뢰도 감시 방법 (A Method to Monitor the Reliability of In-house Power Supply Systems in Nuclear Power Plants Based on Probabilistic Assessment)

  • This paper introduces a method to establish performance criteria of the in-house power supply system in nuclear power plants. The performance criteria of the system is presented in terms of the number of function failures and amount of the out-of-service time that can be allowed commensurate with the probabilistic safety assessment results of the nuclear power plants. To obtain the performance criteria such as reliability and availability, the functions of the system were analyzed and probabilistic assessment results were utilized. This method provides quantitative guidelines in selecting and monitoring system functions to determine an adequate level of maintenance quality in order to ensure the probabilistic goals for the safety of the nuclear power plants.

Assessment of Agricultural Nutrient Surplus in Pig-concentrated Region in Korea

  • Assessment of nutrient balance in region unit is important to make a decision on nutrient management in agriculture. In this study, the nutrient demand in arable land and nutrient supply from livestock manure and chemical fertilizer were estimated from pig-concentrated areas. Three regions (H, I and J) were selected on the basis of pig numbers per unit area of arable land. In H and I regions, nitrogen amount from pig manure occupied about 50% of total livestock manure. Nutrient supply was three times higher compared to the nutrient demand in each of 3 regions. Soil available phosphate of higher pig-populated area in regional unit was higher than less populated livestock area. Therefore, livestock manure-derived regional management and monitoring of soil nutrient contents is necessary for the minimization and improvement of nutrient surplus.

친환경 농촌마을계획을 위한 주거 에너지 이용실태 조사 분석 (An Investigation and Analysis on Actual Condition of Energy Utilizations in Farmhouse for Environmental-friendly Planning of Rural Villages)

  • Actual states of energy utilizations were investigated and analyzed on three representative rural villages in Chungcheongnam-Do. Rural residents were almost using the ondol boiler as a heating facility and oil(diesel, kerosene) and electricity(night thermal-storage power service) as a heating energy. There were a few households using briquette or firewood in a fuel hole with Korean hypocaust. Most of their cooking facilities were gas ranges using LPG. The most popular hot-water supply system was an oil boiler and the next was an electricity boiler. The amount of energy use in a rural household generally showed 20,000 to 40,000 won/month of the electric power rate, 400 to 800 liter/year of the oil and 60 to 120 kg/year of the LPG. Prompt measures should be taken to promote the spread of new and renewable energy such as solar heat, biomass and wind power, etc.

  • Fluoride was first introduced into the drinking water of residents of Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1945 for the prevention of dental caries. Ever since, growing numbers of communities favor fluoridation. Now, over 7000 communities in the United States are adding F(0.7~1.2ppm) to their drinking water. The most effective to prevent tooth decay is putting lower concentrated fluoride(F, 0.7~1.2ppm) into drinking water. However, exact fluoride injection amount have not been decided, because the research of the fluoride injection effect was insufficient. Therefore, after separating fluoridation and non-fluoridation into public water supplies, we investigated concentration of fluoride, alkalinity, Al, Ca, Mg, evaporation residuals in APT, domestic, commercial area. Then, we decided allowable concentration of fluoride, injection point of fluoride in water supply system, cost effectiveness.

  • The liquid phase LPG injection (LPLi) system (the third generation technology) has been considered as one of the next generation fuel supply systems for LPG vehicles, since it has a very strong potential to accomplish the higher power, higher efficiency, and lower emission characteristics than the mixer type(the second generation technology) fuel supply system. To investigate the durability property of core part of injector in liquid phase LPG injection system, leakage test, SEM test of injectors and analysis of unvaporized fuel components with various LPG fuel qualities were tested. The experimental results showed that no serious problem in durability test using favorable LPG fuel quality, while high leakage amount due to the large scratches in the needle and nozzle of the injector were found using LPG fuel with highly containing olefin components, especially butadiene species.

A Cost Effective Energy Saving of Fluorescent Lighting in Commercial Buildings

  • Lighting represents a significant component of commercial buildings, particularly office buildings. Fluorescent lighting is invariably used in all commercial, industrial and residential areas. A significant amount of lighting energy is wasted every day by leaving the lights on and not utilizing daylight energy. However, if daylight illuminance can be harnessed, this will reduce the electricity consumption of fluorescent lamps and save energy. This paper explains possible significant savings in lighting energy consumption and hence in costs, without reducing the performance and visual satisfaction in office or industrial buildings. It is proposed to obtain energy saving by reducing the supply voltage without degradation in lighting performance. Experimental results confirm that as much as 20% of electrical energy can be saved by reducing about 9% of the supply voltage, without noticeably affecting light output while complying with lighting standard limits.

  • This paper investigates local exhaust effectiveness in a room with a supply and an exhaust slots on the ceiling. The mean age of air is an indicator of supply effectiveness, while the mean residual life time can be used as an indicator of exhaust effectiveness. The distribution of local mean residual life time in a space is calculated by four different numerical procedures. The reverse-flow calculation method has been proved to show quite accurate results while it can save considerable amount of computation time and efforts, compared to the method by its original definition. It is concluded that the diffusion term in the equation of mean residual life time can be neglected. The spatial and temporal diffusion characteristics of the contaminant are also discussed.

수소생산을 위한 바이오매스 가스화 반응의 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Assessment of Biomass Gasification for Hydrogen Production)

  • Hydrogen can be produced by gasification of biomass and other combustible fuels. Depending on oxydant agents, syngas or producer gas compositions become quite different. Since biomass has limited amount of hydrogen including moisture in it, the hydrogen concentration in the syngas is about 15% when air is supplied for oxidant agent. Experiments were conducted to investigate the channges in hydrogen concentrations in syngas with different oxidant agent conditions, fuel conditions, and external heat supply. Allothermal reaction resulted in higher concentrations of hydrogen with the supply of steam over air, reaching over 60%. Hydrogen is produced by water-gas and water-gas shift reactions. These reactions are endothermic and require enough heat. Autothermal reaction occurred in the downdraft gasifier used in the experiment did not provide enough heat in the reactions for hydrogen production. Steam seems a more desirable oxidant agent in producing the syngas with higher concentrations of hydrogen from biomass gasifications since nitrogen is included in syngas when air is used.

  • 본 연구에서는 마이크로미립 이송시스템의 에어 누수가 과다함으로 인해 압축에어를 사용하는 큰 문제점을 발생되어 로터리피더의 에어누수를 기존대비 50% 감소시켰으며 생산제조원가 면에서도 기존가격의 60%수준으로 개발함으로써 원료의 원활한 이송이 될 수 있는 장치의 개발에 대해 입증하였다.

임대아파트 난방방식별 에너지소비와 만족도 조사에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Energy Consumption and the Degree of Satisfaction by Heating System in Rental Apartment)

  • Considering the present development situation of rental apartment since 1982, the supply of homeless housing for low-income dwellers has contributed a amount of quantities, but has been deficient qualities in housing policy. To propose the energy policy for low-income dwellers, this study investigated the energy consumption and the degree of heating satisfaction by heating system through questionaries in permanent rental apartment and 50 year period rental apartment complexes. The results of this study were as follows; The annual energy consumption of heating and hot water supply is 267.2 Mca1/$\textrm{m}^2$ㆍyr in central heating system, is 163.9 Mca1/$\textrm{m}^2$ㆍyr in unit heating system. But from the view of annual energy cost and the degree of heating satisfaction, central heating system were better than unit heating system in rental apartment.
