  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the Electromagnetic(EM) wave absorber for an Electronic Toll Collection(ETC or Hi-pass) system by using Amorphous metal powder and CPE. The material properties and the absorption properties of the samples containing 50 wt.%, 60 wt.%, 70 wt.%, and 80 wt.% of Amorphous. Moreover, the EM wave absorption abilities were simulated for the different thicknesses of the EM absorbers by adopting the measured permittivity and permeability, and then the EM wave absorber was fabricated based on the simulated design values. As a result, the EM wave absorber with the composition of Amorphous metal powder : CPE = 50 : 50 wt.% with the thickness of 2.6 mm has excellent absorption ability more than 40 dB at 5.8 GHz.

Firstly, we fabricated EM wave absorber by using AMP and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene) with different composition ratios 80:20 wt.% and 85:15 wt.%. Secondly, we designed the optimum EM wave absorber using the calculated material constants obtained from measured input impedance of the samples. Therefore, EM wave absorber with absorption ability of 17.5 dB at 433 MHz when composition ratio of AMP:CPE=85:15 wt.% and thickness of 5.5 mm.

  • Mechanical alloying (MA) by high energy ball mill of Pure chromium Powders was carried out under the nitrogen gas atmosphere. Cr-N amorphous alloy powders have been produced through the solid-gas reaction subjected to MA. The atomic structure during amorphization process was observed by X-ray and neutron diffractions. An advantage of the neutron diffraction technique allows us to observe the local atomic structure surrounding a nitrogen atom. The coordination number of metal atoms around a N atom turns out to be 5.5 atoms. This implies that a nitrogen atom is located at both of centers of the tetrahedron and octahedron formed by metal atoms to stabilize an amorphous Cr-N structure. Also, we have revealed that a Cr-N amorphous alloy may produced from a mixture of pure Cr and Cr nitrides powders by solid-solid reaction during mechanical alloying.

  • Fe based ($Fe_{68.2}C_{5.9}Si_{3.5}B_{6.7}P_{9.6}Cr_{2.1}Mo_{2.0}Al_{2.0}$) amorphous powder were produced by a gas atomization process, and then ductile Cu powder fabricated by the electric explosion of wire(EEW) were mixed in the liquid (methanol) consecutively. The Fe-based amorphous - nanometallic Cu composite powders were compacted by a spark plasma sintering (SPS) processes. The nano-sized Cu powders of ${\sim}\;nm$200 produced by EEW in the methanol were mixed and well coated with the atomized Fe amorphous powders through the simple drying process on the hot plate. The relative density of the compacts obtained by the SPS showed over 98% and its hardness was also found to reach over 1100 Hv.

  • Powder synthesis using the alkoxy precursor technique exhibits processing flexibility not available in traditional high temperature solid-state reaction. With proper process control, impurities can be reduced to very low levels. The major distinction of the present work lies in the method of accomplishing the hydrolysis reaction. In the present case, water is not added to the system. Instead the metal alkoxide/alcohol solution is heated to a temperature at which water is formed through dehydration of the alcohol solvent, causing precipitation of the corresponding metal oxide (hydroxide). The present method provides a means of producing amorphous alumina.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the EM wave absorbers for preventing the reduction of the communication range when RFID Tag is approached to a metal plate. The EM wave absorber samples were fabricated with difference composition ratios of Amorphous metal powder and CPE, the absorption abilities of which were simulated by substituting different thicknesses of the EM wave absorbers. Then the EM wave absorbers are manufactured based on the simulated results. By using the EM wave absorbers, we have confirmed the improvement effect of RFID tag antenna and the increase of communication range of RFID system. As a result, it was cleary shown that the communication range of RFID system is improved by adopting the EM wave absorber with the composition ratio of Amorphous metal powder:CPE=80:20 wt.% and the thickness of 4 mm. Thus, it was confirmed that the proposed EM wave absorber can increase the communication range of RFID system from 0.8 m to 5.2 m in UHF band.

  • We investigate the effect of phosphorous content on the microstructure and magnetic properties of Fe83.2Si5.33-0.33xB10.67-0.67xPxCu0.8 (x = 1-4 at.%) nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloys. The simultaneous addition of Cu and P to nanocrystalline alloys reportedly decreases the nanocrystalline size significantly, to 10-20 nm. In the P-containing nanocrystalline alloy, P atoms are distributed in an amorphous residual matrix, which suppresses grain growth, increases permeability, and decreases coercivity. In this study, nanocrystalline ribbons with a composition of Fe83.2Si5.33-0.33xB10.67-0.67xPxCu0.8 (x = 1-4 at.%) are fabricated by rapid quenching melt-spinning and thermal annealing. It is demonstrated that the addition of a small amount of P to the alloy improves the glass-forming ability and increases the resistance to undesirable Fex(B,P) crystallization. Among the alloys investigated in this work, an Fe83.2Si5B10P1Cu0.8 nanocrystalline ribbon annealed at 460℃ exhibits excellent soft-magnetic properties including low coercivity, low core loss, and high saturation magnetization. The uniform nanocrystallization of the Fe83.2Si5B10P1Cu0.8 alloy is confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis.
