Frank Lloyd Wright, a master of the 20th Century Ar-chitecture, contributed tremendously in creating a wholly new form of American architecture called Prairie Style. His idea behind the development of the building structur-al system, organic relationships between inner and outer space, horizontal vertical lines, and idea of extending and expanding interior spaces came from nature. He had completed over 390 projects throughout his life and 90% of those projects were residential design. The most typical characteristic shared by many of his residential design was that each design element, whether it is functional or aesthetical, has close relationship to or-ganic nature, human scale, theoretical floor plants, and maximum emphasis on horizontal lines in respect to na-ture. His concept of "flow of spaces" reformed common the-ory of room next to room in a enclosed space. His sense of "wall" was no longer the side of a box. Careful selec-tion of finishing materials, colors, and natural images en-hance the design as well. F.L. Wright was an artist, designer, and architect who believed the exterior space should have direct relationship to the interior space. His architectural philosophy was not only to design exterior of architecture but also to ful-fill his space through the careful development of interior elements such as furniture, and lighting fixture. Even the patterns for leaded glass windows were designed to have unified appearance from outside to inside of the house. The objective of this study was to analyze floor plans, spatial organizations, and interior design elements of the houses which represent the best of F.L. Wright's design principles and philosophy behind Prairie Style. Reinforcement learning (RL) is widely applied to various engineering fields. Especially, RL has shown successful performance for control problems, such as vehicles, robotics, and active structural control system. However, little research on application of RL to optimal structural design has conducted to date. In this study, the possibility of application of RL to structural design of reinforced concrete (RC) beam was investigated. The example of RC beam structural design problem introduced in previous study was used for comparative study. Deep q-network (DQN) is a famous RL algorithm presenting good performance in the discrete action space and thus it was used in this study. The action of DQN agent is required to represent design variables of RC beam. However, the number of design variables of RC beam is too many to represent by the action of conventional DQN. To solve this problem, multi-agent DQN was used in this study. For more effective reinforcement learning process, DDQN (Double Q-Learning) that is an advanced version of a conventional DQN was employed. The multi-agent of DDQN was trained for optimal structural design of RC beam to satisfy American Concrete Institute (318) without any hand-labeled dataset. Five agents of DDQN provides actions for beam with, beam depth, main rebar size, number of main rebar, and shear stirrup size, respectively. Five agents of DDQN were trained for 10,000 episodes and the performance of the multi-agent of DDQN was evaluated with 100 test design cases. This study shows that the multi-agent DDQN algorithm can provide successfully structural design results of RC beam.

This study aims to understand the tendencies and characteristics when constructing landscape architectural archives in the United States, and to find implications for creating Korean landscape architectural archives. Focusing on seven American landscape architectural archives operated by public institutes, universities, and research institutes, this study examines the background, mission, scope, subject, acquisition, arrangement, and application of the programs in the archives. The results show that the characteristics of the American landscape architectural archives are as follows: first, the recognition of the value and importance of the landscape plays a major role in the establishment of archives; second, the purpose of the archives is to educate and encourage people to find diversity or significance of landscapes; third, the subject and scope of the archives vary according to the purpose of each operating institution; fourth, the main acquisitional method is to receive a donation and to purchase materials or documents; fifth, the classification systems of each archive differs depending on the subject and scope; and sixth, the archives were built on the basis of participation and collaboration with various experts and organizations with stable and sustainable financial resources. These characteristics offer three implications for constructing landscape architectural archives in Korea. First, a long-term vision for landscape architectural archives and the establishment of differentiated themes are required. Second, appropriate methods of material collection and systems of classification, recording, and digitization are necessary and therefore research and pilot archives are required. Third, it is necessary to secure the sustainability of archives by developing ways to utilize the archives in connection with academic and educational programs, thereby securing financial resources and allowing for the establishment of appropriate policies. As basic research, this study is significant as it provides a basis for further research concerning the development of landscape architectural archives in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the background of the plans and the spatial characteristics of the garden at the Anglo-Korean School, an educational institution established in Gaeseong in 1906 by Yun Chi-ho and the American Methodist Church. The time scope of the study is from 1906, when the school was opened, to the early 1920s, when the basic building structure of the school was completed. The spatial scope is the school complex, located in Gaeseong, and its affiliated facilities. The contents of the study include the planning background and purpose, spatial layout, and plants used in the school garden. This study reviewed Yun Ch'i-ho's papers and Warren A. Candler's papers at Emory University, documents, photos, and maps produced in the early 20th century. The results show that the school garden was first mentioned at the school's opening and that with a strong will, Yun Chi-ho insisted on establishing a school garden. The garden was located around the engineering department building and was divided into several sections and lots. Economic plants, such as fruit trees, comprised the garden and were sourced from the Methodist Church of the South, USA. This study reveals that the garden at the Anglo-Korean School functioned as a training ground for agriculture and horticulture education and was differentiated from Seowon, a traditional Korean academy that symbolically spaced Neo-Confucianism and that emphasized the views of the surrounding nature during the Joseon Dynasty.
Space dominates all the art activities human do and plays a role of providing aesthetic emotion. Architecture, sculpture, painting, and furniture, etc. these two and three dimensional works are represented in space and interpreted the role of its form, structure and function. Each area is different, but space has been studied in philosophy, physics, geometry, and mathematical studies, etc. and has been consistently interpreted and represented relating to a variety of human creative activity. Furniture is also three dimensional art being dependent on space. In the United States in 2004, I made the living room bench by applying the spatial concept at Rochester Institute of Technology. Two years later, this design was adopted by wendell Castle Collection, an American furniture company, then prototype were made and tested three times during a year, and then since 2007 as indoor benches it has been manufactured in the United States. The study's purpose is to order the process of its development based on the experience of bench production applied the spatial concept, and by analyzing the properties of spatial concept, I am planning to propose a new concept on interaction with the space and furniture for next.
Urbanization created by modernization and industrialization has brought tremendous growth of hotel demand with city ' development such as population’s centralization, living environment changes, consumption emphasis, and internationalization. Moreover, the hotel industry has been developed in two ways. First, it has been diversified and popularized by hotel culture. Second, the hotel industry has been upgraded form focusing oh its specific targets. In the view of Hotel design, Hotel was shown as a social and cultural value. Customer can experience the space, not normal big sizes, but being new and reflecting trends regardless of any purposes or locations. The hotels that were resulted in development of American economy and construction since the 1980 had new design concepts. These hotels were one of the examples showing pluralism requiring on modern society. In the case of Korea, Korean Architect Company have built in copying or repacked western hotel without considering Korean local conditions. Korean company just tried to make large scales, high-story buildings, and chain hotels. Nevertheless, it is the current trend to understand the customer's sensitivity and viewpoint by introducing a new style of hotel management that requires variety and different characteristics of hotel design. Therefore, the purpose of this study presents a direction of the future hotel architecture by analyzing design characters of domestic and international hotels, by collecting various consumer's requests.
Housing Adjustment is a set of creative human activities that take place to meet various housing needs. Thus far, numerous studies have given attention to speculate a typology of those activities on an empirical base. Overall, though, little is known about its theoretical underpinning, due to the independent nature of each individual study in interpreting differences in conclusions. This study examines and compares results from two previous studies on housing adjustment. Previous research on housing adjustment suggests that, other than household and housing characteristics, housing satisfaction as an intervening variable is deeply associated with the choice of housing adjustment involved in mobility, home improvement, or cognitive adaptation. The two studies used similar theoretical schemes, asked similar questions, yet one sample consisted of Korean American residents and the other sample was poor housing residents in Korea. This study shows that differences in sample characteristics lead to a strong discrepancy in interpreting Speare's (1974) satisfaction theory of housing adjustment. For Korean Americans, housing satisfaction turned out to be a good predictor of housing adjustment preference, while it is not the case for poor housing residents in Korea. This implies that findings of any Single study can not be generalized directly to the population as a whole. Thus, continued effort should be made to compare specific findings from various research studies, seeking explanations for differences in conclusions. Theory can be legitimately built and strengthened in this integrated manner.

Building information modeling (BIM) technology based on 3D modeling has been applied to the entire domestic construction industry since 2010. It can calculate quantity take-off considering construction productivity at design phase. Based on this, it is possible to improve the reliability of construction cost prediction of design phase in the process of cost estimation. However, Building Information Level (BIL) defined by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Public Procurement Service does not seem to offer doable environment due to the lack of detailed application items. By calculating construction cost that meets Construction Cost Estimate Accuracy by American Association of Cost Engineers (AACE) through quantity take-off and cost estimation based on 3D modeling of BIM technology, a BIL improvement proposal at design phase for Mechanical Contracts and Construction is provided here. Results showed that properties including outline and minimum specification of the main equipment, internal main piping, and internal main duct should be defined from the intermediate design phase to have reliable cost estimation.
Real-time data reduction pipeline for the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) was developed by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI). The main goal of the data reduction pipeline is to find variable objects and to record their light variation from the large amount of observation data of about 200 GB per night per site. To achieve the goal we adopt three strategic implementations: precision pointing of telescope using the cross correlation correction for target fields, realtime data transferring using kernel-level file handling and high speed network, and segment data processing architecture using the Sun-Grid engine. We tested performance of the pipeline using simulated data which represent the similar circumstance to CTIO (Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory), and we have found that it takes about eight hours for whole processing of one-night data. Therefore we conclude that the pipeline works without problem in real-time if the network speed is high enough, e.g., as high as in CTIO.
In this study, wave spectrum based fatigue analyses are studied for Turkey's adjacent coastal seas by using Maestro finite element analyzing software. Palmgren-Miner's method is used to obtain the fatigue safe life time. Palmgren-Miner's method was selected for the fatigue analyses because of its good acceptance of data from almost all classification societies such as Germanischer Lloyd, the American Bureau of Shipping, Det Norske Veritas, etc. The maximum stress regions of the structures are obtained by using finite element analyses, and the results are compared with the endurance limit of the W$\ddot{o}$hler diagram of AA5059 H321 aluminum alloy. The wave characteristics table given in this article is used to obtain the number of cycles for each sea condition. By using the wave characteristics table, the wave lengths, wave speeds, and cycles are obtained. This study is performed to estimate the lifetimes of a semi-swath type coast guard boat and/or commercial yacht projects, which are produced by using AA5059 H321 aluminum alloy, under different sea environment conditions. Fatigue examinations are performed for both head seas and oblique seas.
