최근 빠른 기술과 시장의 변화에 대응하여, 기업의 생존과 성장을 위한 동태적 역량의 하나로 기업의 양면성 조직 특성에 대한 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 빠른 환경변화에도 불구하고 지속적으로 높은 성과를 보이고 있는 기업은 신제품 기술개발역량 측면에서 기존 제품의 점진적 혁신을 통한 활용적 역량과 함께 새로운 시장 및 기술에 대한 탐험적 역량 둘 모두를 구축하고 균형을 갖는 양면성 조직의 특성을 갖는다. 본 연구는 기술혁신 중소기업이 양면성 조직을 구축 및 운영하는 이유와 방법, 기업의 생존과 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 외부 환경변화에 따른 기업의 내부적 기술혁신전략과 기업성장단계가 양면성 조직 특성과 성과에 영향을 미친다. 양면성 조직 특성은 구조, 맥락, 리더십 관점으로 접근하였으며, 연구 분석을 위해 제품의 산업적 특성을 달리하는 3개 중소기업에 대해 다중사례분석을 수행하였다. 종단적 분석을 통해, 제품의 산업적 특성과 환경 변화에 대응하는 기업의 기술혁신전략 유형에 따라 양면성 조직의 구축 및 운영의 해법이 다르며, 구조, 맥락, 리더십 관점의 양면성 조직 특성이 상호 보완적으로 작용하였다. 또한, 양면성 조직 특성이 중소기업의 생존과 성과에 중요한 특성임을 확인하였다.

기업은 현재의 자원을 효율적으로 이용하는 활용(exploitation)활동과 새로운 기회를 포착하는 탐색(exploration)활동을 동시에 수행하여야 한다. 이렇게 반대되는 두 가지 속성인 활용과 탐색 활동을 동시에 수행하는 기업을 '조직의 양면성' 또는 '조직의 양손잡이 역량'(Organizational ambidexterity)이 있다고 하며, 이러한 기업을 양손잡이 조직(Ambidextrous organization)이라고 부른다. 본 연구에서는 기업가적 지향성의 핵심 요소들이 양손잡이 전략을 사용하는 기업들의 기업성과에 영향을 미치는 지에 대해 살펴보고, 더불어 환경적 동태성의 조절 효과에 대하여 실증 분석하였다. 연구 결과 기업은 기업가적 지향성이 양손잡이 조직에서 뚜렷한 기업성과에 유의미한 영향이 있다고 나타났다. 또한 환경적 동태성의 조절효과는 기업가적 지향성과 조직의 양손잡이 역랑과의 관계에 있어 조절효과가 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 벤처기업 및 스타트업을 포함한 중소기업이 성장을 위한 전략적 방향을 설정하는데 있어 현실적인 시사점을 제시해 줄 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 중소기업의 양손잡이 역량과 기업성과간의 관계에 관한 연구에 유의미한 영향을 미칠 수 있는 변수들을 소개하고 영향관계를 분석함으로써 학술적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Global financial crisis at 2008 bring about the great change to the company itself and its environment. In these days, the company needs change to the ambidextrous organization, which have more efficiency processes also have more attractive products and services. Ambidextrous organization purse exploiting and exploration innovation program. For the existing process's incremental and rapid improvement, the exploiting innovation programs are used such as 6 Sigma program and so on. For the new business model's searching and developments, the exploration innovation programs are used such as blue ocean program and brainstorming and so on. In this paper is presented the new procedures, for the new business model development, combining exploration and exploiting innovation programs. To obtain the creative business ideas, various exploration methodologies are adopted based on 6 Sigma's methodology, The new procedures are applied to the venture company and examined its validity.

Established and new companies face similar business challenges in achieving performance and competitiveness. Furthermore, several empirical studies using competitive advantage resource-based view theory show that established companies achieve performance and competitiveness with breakthrough innovations. Similarly, new business ventures with limited resources must incorporate breakthrough innovations to achieve performance and competitiveness. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the impact of ambidextrous innovation on new venture performance and competitiveness. It used an online survey to collect data from 178 newly established shipping agency companies in 22 provinces in Indonesia. Data was analyzed using multivariate analysis with WarpPLS 7.0, where the analysis unit was an organization represented by a director. The results showed that ambidextrous innovation positively and significantly affects firm performance and new venture competitiveness. This means that ambidextrous innovation that emphasizes adaptation and development improves the firm's internal business processes, even with limited resources. Moreover, it increases new ventures' competitiveness in responding to threats and taking advantage of market opportunities. These results contribute to the competitive advantage resource-based view theory, specifically for new venture empirical examination. Also, they contribute to practical implications in the transportation business, demonstrating that exploitative breakthrough innovation can improve new venture competitiveness and performance.

양면적 혁신이란 탐색과 활용의 모순된 두 가지 속성을 동시에 추구할 수 있는 조직의 혁신 능력이며, 이를 확보하게 되면 보다 우월한 성과를 거둘 수 있다는 것이 양면성 가설이다. 본 연구의 목적은 조직학습 및 혁신 분야 문헌들에 근거하여 일반적으로 가정되어 왔던 양면성 혁신과 기업성과간의 관계를 실증하는 데에 있다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 1994년에서 2009년 사이에 제작된 714편의 한국 TV 드라마 제작 프로젝트를 바탕으로 도출된 57명의 제작자를 표본으로 하여 드라마 제작자의 양면적 혁신전략이 드라마 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과, 새로운 장르를 시도하는 탐색적 장르 혁신과 기존 성공 장르를 반복하는 활용적 장르 혁신의 상호작용 효과가 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 설정된 '양면성' 가설이 지지되었다. 이러한 결과는 문화산업과 같이 불확실성이 높은 환경에서 장기적인 성과를 담보하기 위해서는 새로운 기회의 탐색과 기존 지식의 활용을 동시에 모두 추구하는 혁신 행동이 요구됨을 시사하고 있다.

Ambidextrous organization excel at exploiting existing products to enable incremental innovation and at exploring new opportunities fo foster more radical innovation. In this paper are presented the improved procedures of new business model development using 6 sigma methodology. To inspired about new business ideas we use exploration method. To eliminate project's waste we use exploitation method such as 6sigma methodology. The main object of this study is to introduce an empirical study on DIDOV.

전략적 제휴는 기업의 생존 및 지속적인 경쟁우위를 획득하기 위해서 매우 중요한 수단으로 인식되고 있다. 특히, 기술의 변화 속도가 매우 빠른 첨단 기술 산업에서는 다양한 파트너들과 전략적 제휴를 통해 외부 지식을 공유하고 이를 습득함으로써 기업 성과를 향상시킬 수 있을 것이다. 또한 March(1991)가 주장한 2개 유형의 활동, 즉 탐색(exploration)과 활용(exploitation) 간의 딜레마를 해결하기 위해 둘 중 하나의 활동을 외부화하는 방법으로 전략적 제휴가 수행되기도 한다. 하지만 최근 기술경영 분야에서는 탐색과 활용을 동시에 수행할 수 있는 양손잡이 조직(ambidextrous organization)이 커다란 이슈가 되고 있으며, 기업 성과에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기업의 내부뿐만 아니라 외부 활동 중의 하나인 전략적 제휴에서도 탐색과 활용 간의 균형이 중요하게 다루어질 것이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 탐색과 활용을 동시에 수행하는 양손잡이 제휴(ambidextrous alliance)와 기업 성과의 관계에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 기존의 많은 연구들이 양손잡이 제휴에 대해 건수 중심으로 분석하였으나, 본 연구는 전체적인 제휴 구성(alliance portfolio)과 개별적인 제휴 파트너(alliance partner) 측면으로 접근하여 탐색과 활용 간의 균형 관계를 분석했다는 점에서 그 의의를 가질 것이다. 본 연구는 높은 불확실성과 치열한 경쟁으로 인해 외부 지식의 획득이 매우 중요한 미국의 바이오/제약 산업을 연구 대상으로 선택하였고, 1990년부터 2005년까지 자료를 수집하여 패널 데이터 분석을 수행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 실증적으로 양손잡이 제휴의 중요성을 제시하며, 실무적으로도 기업의 전략적인 의사결정에서 탐색과 활용 간의 균형을 강조한다.

With wide recognition of significant roles of venture companies in economic and industrial developments, substantial academic attention has been paid to understanding venture success and numerous policy measures have been made to help them. A serious problem, however, is that only a few limited number of venture could successfully grow to be large firm. The goal of this paper is to identify critical factors to drive 'leapfrogging' growth of venture companies by analyzing the success cases in Daejeon area. The theoretical analysis and case study suggest 1) founders' entrepreneurship continuity as a significant internal organization factor for growth and highlight importance of 2) exploring foreign markets and globalization of business operation in the early stage of growth. Furthermore, the research results identify two critical innovation strategies, 3) ambidextrous R&D strategy and 4) open innovation strategy, for entrepreneurial founders to effectively catch the business chances brought by environment change.

조직의 양손잡이(organizational ambidexterity) 구조는 기업이 새로운 기회를 포착하는 탐색(exploration) 활동과 자원을 효율적으로 이용하는 활용(exploitation) 활동을 동시에 추구할 수 있도록 설계한 조직 전략이다. 이러한 양손잡이 구조는 현재 대부분 여유 자원이 풍부한 대기업을 대상으로 연구가 이루어지고 있으며, 상대적으로 여유 자원 보유 수준이 낮은 스타트업의 양손잡이 조직구조 필요성에 대한 연구는 아직 많지 않다. 하지만, 최근 전 세계적으로 창업생태계가 고도화되면서 벤처에 투자하는 모험자본이 급속하게 증가하고 있으며, 이러한 현상은 스타트업에 많은 투자가 이루어지고 급성장할 수 있는 환경이 조성되면서 스타트업의 양손잡이 조직구조의 필요성과 적용 가능성에 대한 논의가 필요한 시점이다. 이에 본 연구는 새로운 아이디어로 시장의 문제를 해결하며 꾸준히 시장에서 탐색 활동을 하고 있는 스타트업(start-up)이 이러한 탐색 활동과 동시에 누적되어 가는 기업의 자원을 활용할 수 있는 역량을 갖추는 것이 기업성과에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 가설검증을 위해 국내 140개 스타트업의 설문데이터를 분석하였으며, 지금의 시장 상황처럼 불확실하고 변동성이 높은 환경에서의 양손잡이 조직에 대한 필요성을 검증하기 위하여 환경적 동태성(environmental dynamics)의 조절효과가 있는지도 분석하였다. 연구결과 스타트업의 탐색과 활용의 균형(balance)은 기업성과에 유의미한 영향이 있음이 검증되었고, 환경적 동태성의 조절효과는 비재무성과와의 관계에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 자원이 부족한 스타트업의 경우 기업이 성장해 가는 과정에서 발생하는 잉여자원들을 효과적으로 활용하고 새로운 사업을 탐색하는 초기 단계부터 탐색과 활용의 균형을 맞추어야 한다는 결론을 도출하였다. 즉, 장기적으로 스타트업도 효과성과 효율성을 동시에 추구할 수 있는 메커니즘을 내재화하기 위해서 양손잡이 조직의 구조화를 추구하는 것이 지속적인 성장과 생존을 위해 중요함을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 조직의 구조 관점에서 스타트업의 성장을 위한 전략적 방향을 제시하고, 급격하게 성장하는 창업벤처 분야에서 스타트업의 양손잡이 역량과 기업성과와의 영향 관계에 대한 유의미한 결과가 스타트업의 성장에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

Purpose - Corporate activities for enhancing and improving corporate performance can largely be divided into exploration and exploitation. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of implementing organizational ambidexterity in SMEs, including distribution firms, by reviewing the extant literature and deriving the basis on which this strategy affects the managerial performance. Research, design, and methodology - The study uses a systematic review methodology, which employs a structured process to discern trends and meaningful themes across a wide body of literature on specific subjects and research questions. This qualitative study examined the influence of ambidextrous strategies of SMEs on firm performance, and the results were synthesized from the literature. Results - Organizational ambidexterity in SMEs is related to the firm's managerial performance. However, it is crucial to know that there are many ways to generate an ambidextrous organization, and decisions about what method to choose should be based on the environmental aspects of the enterprise. Conclusions - The following aspects should be considered for execution; : making practical decisions based on accurate information about the resources the firm has, considering the organizational level of human resources for implementing organizational ambidexterity, and sharing specific performance goals.
