A study on the brazed bonding of alumina ceramic to aluminum in the air atmosphere (알루미나($Al_2O_3$)세라믹과 알루미늄(A1050)과의 대기중 브레이징 접합에 관한 연구)

  • In recent years, many ceramic researchers have discoved various methods of joining ceramic to metal. However, most of these joining methods are perfomed under vacuum and pressured circumstances. So, when we join ceramic to metal,the proceedings are very complicated and require a very high cost. The purpose of this study is to develop a new joining method of an alumina ceramic to an aluminum metal in air atmosphere. The joining condition, such as copper metallizing, nickel plating, brazing, etc. was investigated through the shear strength test of the trial joint. The results obtained from the above experimenta are summarized as follows : 1) In the case of the $Al_2O_3$/$Al_2O_3$joint, the shear strength of the joint was affected by the various foctor such as kaolin content, copper metallizing thickness, firing temperature, firing time. 2) The better shear strength of the $Al_2O_3$/Al joint was obtained when Ni plating was conducted under higher current density than existing plating condition. 3) The shear strength of the $Al_2O_3$/Al joint increases with the Ni plating thickness is confined to the range of this paper. 4) The shear strength of the thermal-shocked specimen($Al_2O_3$/Al joint) was far more deteriorated than that of the as-bonded specimen.

A Study on Development of Large-capacity Aluminum Heat Sinks Brazed with a Batch Furnace (대용량 알루미늄 브레이징 히트싱크 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Recently demand for large-capacity aluminum heat sinks has been increased as market for high power electricity expands and high-performance electronic products develop. While the brazed heat sinks are in particular preferred, it is almost impossible to manufacture them with an atmospheric continuous furnace due to insufficient heating rate and various thickness of the parent metals. Therefore, a new index batch furnace is developed and the process variables are optimized. Then, brazing efficiency and tensile stress are obtained for brazed parts of the heat sinks. Finally experiment as well as numerical analysis has been performed to compare thermal efficiency of the brazed heat sinks with that of the silicone-bonded heat sinks.

  • 브래이징은 모재보다 용점이 낮은 재료를 접합매체(납재)로 하여, 450.deg. C 이상의 온도에서 모재를 녹이지 않고 납재만 용융시켜, 모재의 틈새에 용융된 납재를 침투(모세관 유입) 시킴 으로써 접합하는 방법이다. 브레이징은 (1) 한 번에 여러 곳을 접합할 수 있어 대량생산이 용이 하고, (2) 이종금속의 접합이 용이하며, (3) 복잡한 면의 접합이 가능하고, (4) 박판 및 세선의 접합이 용이하며, (5) 기밀, 수밀에 강하고 접합 강도가 우수하다는 장점으로 인해 적용범위가 점차 확대되고 있다. 국내에서도 현재 수많은 업체에서 브레이징을 제품생산에 적용하고 있으나 브레이징 기술은 그리 높지 않은 상태이다. 그러나 최근 브레이징 분야에 대한 기술개발 욕구가 증대되고 있는 상황이어서, 브레이징에 대한 기술과 정보의 보급 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 필자는 일본의 브레이징 자료를 중심으로 브레이징에 관한 기초 지식을 기술하고 덧붙여 연구 동향을 소개하고자 한다.

Effect of Sn Addition on Microstructure of Al Alloy Powder for Brazing Process (브레이징용 Al 합금 분말의 미세조직에 미치는 Sn 함량의 영향)

  • The powder manufacturing process using the gas atomizer process is easy for mass production, has a fine powder particle size, and has excellent mechanical properties compared to the existing casting process, so it can be applied to various industries such as automobiles, electronic devices, aviation, and 3D printers. In this study, a modified A4032-xSn (x = 0, 1, 3, 5, and 10 wt.%) alloy with low melting point properties is investigated. After maintaining an argon (Ar) gas atmosphere, the main crucible is tilted; containing molten metal at 1,000℃ by melting the master alloy at a high frequency, and Ar gas is sprayed at 10 bar gas pressure after the molten metal inflow to the tundish crucible, which is maintained at 800℃. The manufactured powder is measured using a particle size analyzer, and FESEM is used to observe the shape and surface of the alloy powder. DSC is performed to investigate the change in shape, according to the melting point and temperature change. The microstructure of added tin (Sn) was observed by heat treatment at 575℃ for 10 min. As the content of Sn increased, the volume fraction increased to 1.1, 3.1, 6.4, and 10.9%.

Effects of Drawing Parameters on Mechanical Properties of BAS121 Alloy Tubes for Heat-exchangers by High Frequency Induction Welding (고주파유도용접된 열교환기용 BAS121합금튜브의 기계적 특성에 미치는 인발조건의 영향)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the optimum drawing parameter for BAS121 welded tubes. The BAS121 aluminium alloy tubes with 25 mm in external diameter and 1.3 mm in thickness for heat-exchangers were manufactured by high frequency induction welding with the V shaped convergence angle $6.5^{\circ}$ and power input 55 kW. With increasing the reduction of area ($13,\;21\%$) by drawing, tensile strength was increased and elongation was decreased. With increasing the reduction of area by drawing, hardness in weld metal increased rapidly, while that of base metal increased slowly. In the specimen with the outer diameter smaller than 22 mm, hardness of weld metal was higher than that of base metal. The optimum drawing parameter of area reduction in BAS121 alloys was estimated about $13\%$ because of the work hardening of welds.

  • From the present paper researched about the Design of Image Rejection SSB Modulator for X-Band Monopulse RADAR using Waveguide Hybrid Coupler. Generally, SSB modulator mixes IF(RF) and LO signals, and then it converts to RF(IF) frequency band. In this case, in order to transmit one sideband from RF band, SSB modulator is demanded the removal of image and LO signal. The balanced mixer was designed using waveguide hybrid coupler and crystal mixer diode to mix LO and IF signal. And also the IF Amplifier was designed for IF(+) and IF(-) signal generation which have $90^{\circ}$ phase differences which are suitable in two crystal mixer diode inputs. In order to maintain a high electric reliability from high frequency band the waveguide and IF amplifier's case were manufactured with aluminum using deep brazing techniques. The test result of SSB modulator, LO and sideband signal rejection ratio were 14.2dB and 18.5dB respectively.
