A Study on fatigue Damage Model using Neural Networks in 2024-T3 aluminium alloy (신경회로망을 이용한 Al 2024-T3합금의 피로손상모델에 관한 연구)

  • To estimate crack growth rate and cycle ratio uniquely, many investigators have developed various kinds of mechanical parameters and theories. But, these have produced local solution space through single parameter. Neural Networks can perform pattern classification using several input and output parameters. Fatigue damage model by neural networks was used to recognize the relation between da/dN N/Nf, and half-value breadth ratio B/BO0, fractal dimension Df and fracture mechanical parameters in 2024-T3 ability to predict both crack growth rate da/dN and cycle ratio N/Nf within engineering estimated mean error (5%).

A Study on Material Substitution Design and Evaluation Method for Structural Components of Rolling Stocks (철도차량 구조부품의 소재대체 설계 및 평가기법 연구)

  • In this paper, a theoretical method was derived to redesign carbody members by substituting light-weight materials, and to estimate their structural characteristics. Some performance indices to estimate structural behaviors were derived in order to obtain equivalent designs in case of material substitutions under important design constraints of rolling stock, such as bending stiffness, natural frequency, bending and buckling strength. Validity of the theoretical method was evaluated by comparing its results with finite element results in some examples where the aluminium alloy was substituted for the structural steel. The numerical results of the examples show that the proposed method gives reasonable initial guesses for the material substitution designs.

  • The evolution of texture and microstructure during warm rolling and subsequent annealing in aluminium 3004 alloy sheet was investigated by X-ray texture measurements and microstructure observations. Warm rolling at 250$^{\circ}C$ led to the development of strong through thickness texture gradients with shear textures at the surface layer and a regular rolling texture in the center of the sheets. FEM simulations indicated that these texture gradients are caused by pronounced strain gradients throughout the sheet thickness. Upon recrystallization annealing, in the sheet center the characteristic cube-recrystallization texture developed, while in the surface layers with a pronounced shear texture continuous recrystallization took place which led to the formation of a very fine grained microstructure. It is concluded that the very complex strain history in the near-surface layers together with the resulting high work-hardening rate gave rise to the formation of the ultra-fine grains with an average size smaller than 2$\mu\textrm{m}$.

  • The development of rolling texture is dependent on the various rolling condition. And the geometry of rolling gab and the friction between rolls and rolled material mainly affect the type and sharpness of texture inhomogeneity through thickness. In order to follow the effect of geometry and friction various strain/pass and lubrication condition were applied during cold rolling. In this investigation various strain/pass and lubrication were applied during cold rolling in order to follow the effect rolling gap geometry and friction. More high 1/h was, more weak the ${\beta}$-fiber was and in the condition of l/h > 5 {001}<110> shear texture developed. In adition, rolling without lubrication enhanced the shear texture.

  • The fiber orientation distribution and interface bonding in hot extrusion process have an effect on the maechanical properties of metal matrix composites(MMC's). Aluminium alloy matrix composites reinforced with alumina short fibers are fabricated by compocasting method. MMC's billets are extruded at high temperature through conical and curved shaped dies with various extrusion ratios and temperature. This present study was directed to describe the systematic correlation between extrusion die shape and subsequent results such as fiber breakage, fiber orientation and tensile strength to hot extruded MMC's billet. Extrusion load, tensile strength and hardness for variation of extrusion ratios and temperature are investigated to examine mechanical properties of extruded MMC's SEM fractographs of tensile specimens are observed to analyze the fracture mechanism.

  • 1990년에 일본 혼다 기연공업의 고성능 스포츠카(NSX)는, 올 알루미늄합금보디등에 알루미늄을 이용, 대폭 경량화시켜 화제를 모았으며 90년 전후부터는 스포츠카나 스페셜리티카로 불리우는 고성능 승용차의 보디외판과 발주위부품에 알루미늄부품이 잇달아 채용되기 시작하였다. 알루미늄부품의 채용이 정착한 최근에 와서, 승용차의 알루미늄화 움직임에 변화가 생겼다. 90년 이전에는 승용차의 발주위부품은 알루미늄단조품으로 경량화하는 것이 보통이었는데, 91년 가을경부터, 이것을 알루미늄 주조품으로 대체하는 방향으로 흐름이 바뀌었다.(중략)

  • The demand on thermos furnace of Al molten metal has recently been getting higher and higher according to the increase in use of Al and Al alloys. This study considers the estimation of the thermal and mechanical stability in the thermos furnace for Al casting. It is executed through the analysis of heat transfer on the refractory material and heat stress on each steel shell. Also, the estimation of structural stability was appraised through the strength analysis of the lower structure. In result, the temperature of steel shell rose to 320.15K and its elastic deformation was about 1.5mm. The elastic deformation of the lower structure was about 0.66mm. As a result of it, the data obtain from the analysis in this study are regarded as stable value on considering that the size of the furnace is 2500mm.

  • In this study, we developed plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process for aluminum 7075 alloy to improve the corrosion and mechanical properties. The electrolyte consists of potassium hydroxide and sodium silicate. Additionally, sodium stannate was added into the electrolyte to investigate its effect on PEO film formation. Titanium was used as the counter electrode. Plasma generation voltage reduced from 300V to 150 V by adding 4 g/L of sodium stannate. The thin oxide films were observed by SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy)/EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) for quantitative and qualitative analyses. XRD (X-ray diffraction) and XRF (X-ray Fluorescences) analyses were also carried out to identify oxide layer on aluminum 7075 surface. Vicker's hardness test was performed on the PEO-treated aluminum 7075 surface.

  • 알루미늄합금의 용도가 우주 항공기 부품에서 자동차, 선박, 건축 등 다양화되면서 이들 재료에 대한 용접기술 또한 산업현장의 주요한 과제로 등장하게 되었다. 알루미늄합금은 극히 활성이 높고, 열전도율이나 열팽창계수가 매우 큰 물리적 특성 및 액상과 고상간의 매우 큰 수소 용해도 차이 등의 특이한 성질을 가지고 있기 때문에 용접에 있어서는 기공이나 미세한 융합 불량이 발생하기 쉽고, 또 용접변형의 제어에도 세심한 배려를 요하는 등 우수한 용접부를 만들기 위해서 고려해야 할 문제를 가지고 있다. 특히 기공이 후판 알루미늄 합금 용접에 있어서 보수공사의 대부분을 차지하고 있으므로 기공 방지법을 확립하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 알루미늄 합금의 용접에 있어서 기공의 발생원인은 수소에 의한 것이라고 정립되어 있으나 그 방지법에 대해서는 많은 연구검토가 행해지고 있음에도 불구하고 수소의 공급경로가 매우 다양하고 복잡하기 때문에 아직 체계적으로 확립되어 있지 못한 실정이다. 본 해설에서는 후판 알루미늄 용접시 가장 큰 문제가 되는 기공의 발생 원인과 방지대책을 기 발표된 자료를 기초로 하여 요약 정리함으로써 앞으로 여러 생산현장에서의 알루미늄합금 용접 특히 MIG 용접 관련 문제점 해결에 도움이 되고자 한다.

  • Transimission electron microscope(TEM)/ultramicrotomy were used to characterize the detailed surface morphology of 2024-T3 Al alloy surfaces prepared by various pretreatment process. It was found that, for good and superior initial adhesive strength and durability, chemically pretreated substrates appeared essential. The film morphology developed after CSA etching treatment, ass revealed by TEM, suggested the present of irregular cell pattern with finely separated whisker-like protrusion with was responsible for increase of bond strength.
