The objective of this research was to evaluate the inhibitory activities of phenolic compounds isolated from Crataegi Fructus on ${\alpha}-amylase$ and ${\alpha}-glucosidase$. The content of total phenolic compounds of water extract from Crataegi Fructus was 22.5 mg/g. The inhibitory activity of the water extract (200 ${\mu}g/ml$) from Crataegi Fructus on ${\alpha}-amylase$ and ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ was determined to be 100% and 82.6%, respectively. Isolation of inhibitory compounds was carried out on Sephadex LH-20 and MCI-gel CHP-20 column chromatography using a gradient elution procedure of increasing MeOH in $H_2O$. The chemical structure of the inhibitory compound against ${\alpha}-amylase$ and ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ was confirmed as chlorogenic acid by spectroscopic analysis of FAB-MS, NMR and IR spectrum.

In our previous studies for the development of new anticonvulsant of broad spectrum, we found that N-cbz-$\alpha$-aminoglutarimides showed significant anticonvulsant activities of broad spectrum enough to be recommended for the new anticonvulsants and their anticonvulsant activities were dependent on their imide substituent groups. Based on these results, various N-cbz--$\alpha$-amino-N-alkoxyglutarimides, where the imide N-H was substituted with the hydroxy and alkoxy group, were prepared and evaluated for their anticonvulsant activities using the Maximal electroshock seizure (MES) and Pentylenetetrazole induced seizure (PTZ) tests and also the rotorod test. A series of (R) or (S)-N-cbz--$\alpha$-amino-N-alkoxyglutarimides could be prepared from the corresponding (R) or (S)-N-cbz-glutamic acid following the usual synthetic procedure. Among them, (R)-N-cbz--$\alpha$-amino-N-hydroxyglutarimide ($ED_{50}$=86.25 mg/kg) was most active in the MES test. In the case of the PTZ test, (R)-N-cbz--$\alpha$-amino-N-benzyloxyglutarimide ($ED_{50}$= 62.5 mg/kg) was most active. Among the tested compounds, 2a-c, 3a, and 3b showed anticonvulsant activities in the MES and PTZ test. All of the tested compounds, except 2f and 3f, showed significant anticonvulsant activities in the MES or PTZ test. In addition, the neurotoxicities of these compounds were comparable to other anticonvulsant drugs.
The measurements of the fast neutron flux and its spectrum have been carried out by the threshold detectors in the central thimble of TRIGA Mark-II reactor operating at 250 KW. The following reactions have been employed for these measurements, viz : Ni$^{58}$ (n, p) Co$^{58}$ ; $Mg^{24}$ (n, p) Na$^{24}$ ; $Al^{27}$ (n, $\alpha$) Na$^{24}$ . From the activation data the fast neutron spectrum were calculated by CDC-3600 computer making use of two semi-empirical methods. It has been verified that the validity of assumption of a fission spectrum in the central thimble exists only above 1 to 2 Mev energy level. With this spectrum, a fast neutron flux in the range of 1 $\times$ 10$^{12}$ n/$\textrm{cm}^2$-sec above the energy of 2.6 Mev was observed in the central thimble of TRIGA MARK-II reactor.
The line shape functions for the Doppler-broadened gamma ray spectrum are considered in the $^{10}B(n,{\alpha}{\gamma})^7Li$ reaction occurring in a surrounding medium where the excited $^7Li$ nucleus is slowed down and stopped before decay. The phenomenological form of the stopping power was used for the broadening effect. Convolution with the detailed response of a germanium detector is taken into consideration for the simplest case of solely electronic stopping. A numerical study for the analysis of $^{10}B$ by thermal neutron capture is conducted by performing a parametric search and fitting the measured spectrum in a least-squares approach. In comparison with the previous numerical approach using the same analysis, the computational speed is increased and reliable information concerning the stopping power of the medium is obtained while estimating the uncertainty. Implementation of the routine analysis of $^{10}B$ is facilitated on a recent version of the gamma ray spectrum analysis package HyperGam.

In this present study, the correlation between subjective preference of essential odors and EEG response were investigated quantitatively. EEG signals were measured from 19 electrodes according to the International 10-20 system (Fpl, Fp2, F2/4, F7/8, Fz, C3/4, Cz, P3/4, Pz, T3/4, T5/6, Ol/2) from 8 healthy males subjects in four odor conditions. Four odor conditions (Rose oil bulgarian, Lemon oil misitano, Jasmin abs, Laverder iol france (KIMEX co. Ltd)) were applied for each subject in the experiment. Through the subjective evaluation, the most pleasant odor for each subject was determined. The power spectrum of ${\alpha}$/${\beta}$ of EEG signals from the most pleasant odor was compared with those from the control condition, which has no odor at all. It was observed that the power spectrum of ${\alpha}$/${\beta}$ of EEG from the most pleasant odor was increased significantly on F3, F3, F4,74 comparing to the control condition. This result indicates that the power spectrum of ai${\beta}$ could be a new index for measuring the levels of pleasantness of odors.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the effects of electro-acupuncture(EA) at the SP6(Sameumgyo)-GB39(Hyeonjong) on normal human EEG using power spectral analysis. Methods : EEG power spectrum exhibit site-specific and state-related differences in specific frequency bands. In this study, power spectrum was used as a measure of complexity(LAXTHA Co., KOREA). 30 channel EEG study was carried out in 20 subjects $(20\;males;\;age=21.4{\pm}0.5\;years)$. Results : In $\alpha$(alpha) band, the power values at F4 channels(p<0.05) during the SP6-GB39 acupoints treatment was significantly increased. But, the power values at Fz channel during the non-acupoint treatment was significantly decreased . In $\beta$(beta) band, the power values at Fz, FTC1, T3 channels(p<0.05) was significantly increased during the SP6-GB39 acupoints treatment. In $\delta$(delta) band, the power values at F4, C3, Cz, CP1, Pz channels(p<0.05) during SP6-GB39 acupoints treatment were significantly decreased.
Prompt fission neutron energy spectrum as a function of energies of neutron inducing fission has been calculated en the basis of the Madland-Nix(MN) model. The resultant spectra have been weighted to excitation functions of $^{27}$ Al(n, $\alpha$), $^{32}$ S(n, p) and $^{115}$ In(n, n') threshold reactions in order to get the average cross sections and then spectral indices which are defined as the average cross section ratio for two selective threshold reactions among the above three. It is appeared that spectral indices together with the neutron spectra are varying with energies of neutron inducing fission. This may indicate that the prompt fission neutron energy spectrum can be determined by measuring experimentally the spectral index.
This paper was a study on dielectric phenomena of the specimen, Polypropylene films which were annealled in air and quenched in liquid nitrogen after aging for 5[hr] in water of 100[.deg.C]. The specimen was measured in temperature range of 15-120[.deg.C] and in frequency range of 30-1x 10$^{6}$ [HZ]. As the results of the study, it was confirmed that the tacticity of specimen was isotactic structure, and the degree of cryatallinity of the specimens calculated by means of Natta's method from XRD (X-ray Diffraction) spectrum was 55[%]. And for dielectric relaxation, .betha. peak-the tan .delta. (spectrum around 20[.deg.C])-attributed due to amorphous regions, and .alpha. peak - the tan .delta. spectrum around 90[.deg.C]-due to crystalline regions. It was identified that the degree of crystallinity of the specimen quenched in the liquid nitrogen was increased to 55-65[%], and that of the specimen annealled in the air was decreased to 55-50[%]. And activation energy from dielectric loss spectra was obtained 34.5[kcal/mole] for .alpha. peak and 80.5[kcal/mole] for .betha. peak, respectively.
For a given $C^{*}$-dynamical system (A, G, .alpha.) with a G-simple $C^{*}$-algebra A (that is A has no proper .alpha.-invariant ideal) many authors have studied the simplicity of a $C^{*}$-crossed product A $x_{\alpha{r}}$ G. In [1] topological freeness of an action is shown to guarantee the simplicity of the reduced $C^{*}$-crossed product A $x_{\alpha{r}}$ G when A is G-simple. In this paper we investigate the pure infiniteness of a simple $C^{*}$-crossed product A $x_{\alpha}$ G of a purely infinite simple $C^{*}$-algebra A and a topologically free action .alpha. of a finite group G, and find a sufficient condition in terms of the action on the spectrum of the multiplier algebra M(A) of A. Showing this we also prove that some extension of a topologically free action is still topologically free.
Studying the amount and kinematics of circumand intergalactic medium (CGM and IGM) is key to understanding the role of feedback and environment (cold streams and galactic winds) in the evolution of galaxies. In particular, $Ly{\alpha}$ emission line has been utilized to investigate the density structure and kinematics of the (most abundant) H I gas in the CGM and IGM around galaxies. Therefore, modeling $Ly{\alpha}$ radiative transfer through multiphase interstellar medium (ISM), CGM and IGM is crucial in understanding the galaxy evolution. As discussed in Kakiichi & Dijkstra (2018), most $Ly{\alpha}$ RT effects would occur on interstellar scales. This is because the main source of $Ly{\alpha}$ photons would be H II regions, which are in most cases, if not all, surrounded by "cold" photo-dissociation regions. However, most $Ly{\alpha}$ RT studies have been performed in the CGM and IGM environments with T ~ 10,000K. In this talk, we present how the $Ly{\alpha}$ RT effect in the cold ISM with T ~ 100 K regulates the $Ly{\alpha}$ spectral properties.
