In this paper, we study both the numerical index and the polynomial numerical index. First, we give a sufficient condition for a Banach space X to have lushness. Second, we study the relation between the renormings of a Banach space and the k-order polynomial numerical index. This shows that every real Banach spaces of dimension greater that 1 can be renormed to have 2-order polynomial numerical index ${\alpha}$ for any ${\alpha}{\in}[0,1/18)$.

This paper presents an enhanced ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ tracking filter whose ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ gains are updated by an approximation method at every scan to account for the transition of measurement dependent observation error variance in two-dimensional Cartesian coordinates. The approximate ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ gains are calculated from the amount of the change in the tracking index and the partial derivatives of the ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ gains with respect to a nominal tracking index. It is shown via simulation that the proposed tracker provides improved performance compared to the conventional ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ tracking filter.

The paper reviews Cronbaha's coefficient to measure a single source of error. On the contrary to classical measurement theory, the generalizability study can be used in the social survey design to calculate Generalizability Index (GI) and Dependability Index (DI) for measuring multiple sources of errors of behavior evaluation. The study proposes application guidelines to implement R:($A{\times}B$) mixed models that are composed of random factor and fixed factor.

Tumor necrosis factor-$\alpha$ (TNF-$\alpha$) exhibits cytotoxicity towards various tumor cells in vitro and induces apoptotic necrosis in transplanted tumors in vivo. It also shows severe toxicity when used systemically for the treatment of cancer patients, hampering the development of TNF-$\alpha$ as a potential anticancer drug. In order to understand the structure-function relation of TNF-$\alpha$ with respect to receptor binding, we selected four regions on the bottom of the TNF-$\alpha$ trimer that are in close contact with the receptor and carried out mutagenesis studies and computational modeling. From the study, various TNF-$\alpha$ muteins with a high therapeutic index were identified. These results will provide a structural basis for the design of highly potent TNF-$\alpha$ for therapeutic purposes. By conjugating TNF-$\alpha$ muteins with a high therapeutic index to a fusion partner, which targets a marker of angiogenesis, it could be possible to develop TNF-$\alpha$ based anticancer drugs.

We show that if the stable rank of $B^{\alpha}$ is one, then the stable rank of B is less than or equal to the order of G for any action of a finite group G. Also we give a short proof to the known fact that if the action of a finite group on a $C^*$-algebra B is saturated then the canonical conditional expectation from B to $B^{\alpha}$ is of index-finite type and the crossed product $C^*$-algebra is isomorphic to the algebra of compact operators on the Hilbert $B^{\alpha}$-module B.

Purpose - The oil price affects company value, which is the present value of the expected cash flow, by affecting the discount rate and cash flow. This study examines the nonlinear relationships between oil price and stock price using the AlphaShares Chinese Volatility Index as the threshold. Research design, data, and methodology - Data comprise daily closing values of the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index, Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index, and Hang Seng Index of ChinaWest Texas Intermediate crude oil spot price and AlphaShares Chinese Volatility Index from May 25, 2007 to May 24, 2012. The Threshold Error Correction Model is used. Results - The results demonstrate different relationships between the stock price index and oil price under different investor sentiments; however, the stock price index and oil price could adjust to a long-term equilibrium the long-term causality tests between them were all significant. Conclusions - The relationship between the WTI and HANG SENG Index is more significant than the Shanghai Composites Index and Shenzhen Composite Index, when using the AlphaShares Chinese Volatility Index (ASC-VIX) as the investor sentiment variable and threshold.

Rheological properties of $\alpha$-rice powder were investigated in comparison with those of polished rice powder. Flow behavior for cooked solutions of two powdered samples(5~11%) were Binghampseudo plastic. Consistency index and yield stress of cooked solution of powdered a-rice were much lower than those of polished rice powder while flow behavior index was nearly similar. 9% cooked solution of powdered $\alpha$ -rice showed slightly weaker thixotrophic behavior and more ease tendency to relax under the steady shear than those of polished rice powder.

In GIS-based network analysis, topological measure of network structure can be considered as one of important factors in the urban transportation analysis. Related to this measure, it is known that the connectivity indices such as alpha index and gamma index, which mean degree of network connectivity and complexity on a graph or a circuit, provide fundamental information. On the other hand, shimbel index is one of GIS-based spatial metrics to characterize degree of network concentration. However, the approach using these quantitative indices has not been widely used in practical level yet. In this study, an application program, in complied as extension, running on ArcView- GIS is implemented and demonstrated case examples using basic layers such as road centerline and administrative boundary. In this approach, geo-spatial imagery can be effectively used to actual applications to determine the analysis zone, which is composed of networks to extract these indices. As the results of the implementation and the case examples, it is notified that alpha and gamma indices as well as shimbel index can be used as referential data or auxiliary information for urban planning and transportation planning.

위암의 화학요법 성적이 만족스럽지 못하므로 기존의 항암제와 alpha-interferon을 병용사용하므로써 상승적 항암효과가 있는가를 연구하였다. R-25 flask에 위암세포주 SNU-1 및 SNU-16을 배양하면서 항암제 5-FU 혹은 cisplatin에 alpha-interferon 2A(제일제당)를 분자량의 비에 따라 병요처리하였다. 96시간 배양후 cytotoxicity를 Mosman의 방법에 따른 MIT방법으로 분석하였으며, 이를 Chou등의 combination index 분석 program을 처리하였다. 위암세포주 SNU-1에 대하여 5-FU와 alpha-IFN은 상승작용을 보였다. 5-FU의 $IC_{50}$/가 14.25$\mu$M 이었고 IFN처리시는 $IC_{50}$/가 0.02$\mu$M이었으며 combination index(CI)는 모든 용량에서 1이하였다. SNU-16에 대하여도 5-FU와 alpha-IFN의 병용사용은 상승적 작용을 나타내었다. (CI<1.0). cisplatin과 alpha-IFN의 병용시에는 CI가 1이상을 나타내어 상승작용을 증명할 수 없었다.

신경회로망은 과거 데이터로부터 유용한 정보를 추출해서 주가지수의 이동 방향을 예측하는데 사용되어 왔다. 주가 지수의 상승 또는 하락 방향을 예측하는 기존 연구는 지수의 작은 변화에도 상승이나 하락을 예측하므로 이를 기반으로 지수 연동 ETF를 매매 하면 손실이 발생할 가능성이 높다. 본 논문에서는 ETF 매매 손실을 줄이고 매매 당 일정 이상의 수익을 내기 위한 일별 KOrea composite S0tock Price Index (KOSPI)의 이동 방향을 예측하는 신경회로망 모델을 제안한다. 제안된 모델은 이동 방향 예측을 위해 전일 대비 지수 변동률이 상승(변동률${\geq}{\alpha}$), 하락(변동률${\leq}-{\alpha}$)과 중립($-{\alpha}$<변동률<${\alpha}$)을 표시하는 출력을 갖는다. 예측이 상승이면 레버리지 Exchange Traded Fund (ETF)를, 하락이면 인버스 ETF를 매수한다. 본 논문에서 구현된 신경회로망 모델 중 PNN1의 Hit ratio (HR)은 학습에서 0.720, 평가에서 0.616이다. 평가용 데이터로 ETF 매매를 시뮬레이션하면 수익률은 8.39 ~ 16.32 %를 보인다. 또한 제안된 이동 방향 예측 신경회로망 모델이 주가지수 예측 신경회로망 모델 보다 ETF 매매 성공률과 수익률에서 더 우수하다.
