ATM technology is reaching a certain level of maturity that allow for its deployment in local as well as in wide area networks. Concurrently, audiovisual applications are foreseen as one of the major users of such broadband networks. We present in this paper requriement of real-time multimedia service on B-ISDN networks and simulating the transport of MPEG-2 encoded multimedia data over ATM networks using CBR, VBR, ABR of ATM Traffic Service. We compare each delay time considering network performance and propose need for real-time multimedia service.

Replacements for natural dentition must fulfil many criteria. An important aspect, especially for the patient, is aesthetic consideration. The shape and colour can be important factors in the aesthetic success of an anterior restoration. In order to allow for proper shape; the outline form, the spatial position of individual teeth and the surface characteristics must be considered. For the colour; translucency, value, chroma and hue must be expressed exactly. The dentist and technicians should catch up these very specific characteristics of the patient and convert them accurately to the restorations with the simplest way.

This paper aims to present some ideas for implementation of Uncertain Relational Databases (URD) which are extensions of classical relational databases. Our system firstly is based on possibility distribution and probability theory to represent and manipulate fuzzy and probabilistic information, secondly adopts flexible mechanisms that allow the management of uncertain data through the resources provided by both available relational database management systems and front-end interfaces, and lastly chooses dynamic SQL to enhance versatility and adjustability of systems.

The use of acoustics to measure the concentration profile of suspended sediment become increasing common. Field studies have shown the usefulness of remotely measuring the suspended sediment concentration with high spatial and temporal resolution. Techniques that allow for the conversion of the backscattered acoustic intensity into suspended sediment concentration have been developed concurrent with instrumentation. (omitted)

Arthroscopy of the stiff elbow joint is a technically difficult procedure because of the decreased joint space of the elbow joint. even to experienced surgeons. Problems encountered include limited access of instrument to the intra-articular ,pace and an increased risk of cartilage injury in the contracted elbow joint. This study describes a novel transarticular approach for elbow arthroscopy that allow, the safe and effective creation of the proximal medial and lateral portals.

Compilations of thermal conductivity and radiogenic heat production on 20 typical rock types provide a convenient summary. These compilations allow estimates to be made of the radioactive heat generation for the continental crust and thus heat flow anomalies of tectonic origin to be isolated.

The usability of the Internet including WWW (World Wide Web) is dramatically growing in current business environment. These allow decision makers to enhance the productivity of decision making by referring valuable information in the remote sites, This paper presents the possibilities how WWW can be applied to build distributed and collaborative DSS, especially model management subsystem. A framework of Internet-based DSS is delineated, and then an idea of representing and managing models in the Internet-based DSS is suggested.

Mixed linear models have been widely used in various correlated data including multivariate survival data. In this paper we extend hierarchical-likelihood(h-likelihood) approach for mixed linear models with right censored data to that for left censored data. We also allow a general random-effect structure and propose the estimation procedure. The proposed method is illustrated using a numerical data set and is also compared with marginal likelihood method.

This paper presents a fuzzy set theory based formulation and heuristic which will allow plant layout problems to be solved for more than two input goals with different weights. The heuristic combines a construction and improvement procedure to generate a good layout from the formulation. To test the effectiveness of the heuristic, a set of examples previously used by various authors is solved and the results are compared to those from other known heuristics. The comparison indicates that the proposed method performs well for each of seventeen classical test problems.

This paper presents a comparative study of single-phase PLL algorithms using virtual 2-phase strategy. Simulation and experimental results, including operation of the PLL structures introduced in reference papers, are presented to allow a performance comparison of the PLL algorithms.
