  • Modern warfare is gradually changing into a network war, and information electronic warfare is also progressing. In modern war, electronic warfare is all military activity concerned with electromagnetic field use, such as signal collecting, communication monitoring, information analysis, and electronic attack. The one key function of signal collecting for enemy signal analysis, direction finding, collects the signal radiated from enemy area and then calculates the enemy direction. This paper examined the Watson-Watt algorithm for an amplitude direction finding system and CVDF algorithm for phase direction finding system and analyzed the difference in the direction finding accuracy between in the clean electromagnetic field environment and in the real operating field environment of electronic warfare system. In the real field, the direction finding accuracy was affected by the reflected field from the surrounding obstacles. Therefore, this paper proposesan enhanced direction finding process for reducing the effect. The result of direction finding by applying the proposed process was enhanced above $1.24^{\circ}$ compared to the result for the existing process.

  • The surface image velocimetry was developed to measure river flow velocity safely and effectively in flood season. There are a couple of methods in the surface image velocimetry. Among them the spatio-temporal image velocimetry is in the spotlight, since it can estimate mean velocity for a period of time. For the spatio-temporal image velocimetry analyzes a series of images all at once, it can reduce analyzing time so much. It, however, has a little drawback to find out the main flow direction. If the direction of spatio-temporal image does not coincide to the main flow direction, it may cause singnificant error in velocity. The present study aims to propose a new method to find out the main flow direction by using a fast Fourier transform(FFT) to a spatio-temporal (image) volume, which were constructed by accumulating the river surface images along the time direction. The method consists of two steps; the first step for finding main flow direction in space image and the second step for calculating the velocity magnitude in main flow direction in spatio-temporal image. In the first step a time-accumulated image was made from the spatio-temporal volume along the time direction. We analyzed this time-accumulated image by using FFT and figured out the main flow direction from the transformed image. Then a spatio-temporal image in main flow direction was extracted from the spatio-temporal volume. Once again, the spatio-temporal image was analyzed by FFT and velocity magnitudes were calculated from the transformed image. The proposed method was applied to a series of artificial images for error analysis. It was shown that the proposed method could analyze two-dimensional flow field with fairly good accuracy.

  • Let $\{X(t);\;t{\in}R^n\}$ be a measurable, separable and H-sssis random fields. Here, we suppose that the increments are invariant under all Euclidean rigid body motions. We investigate some properties of H-sssis random fields and monotonicity of projection process $\{X_e(t);\;t{\in}R^1\}$ in any direction $e{\in}R^n$.

  • This study investigates turbulent flow around a square cylinder mounted on a flat surface at high Reynolds number using a large-eddy simulation (LES) model, particularly focusing on vortex streets behind the square cylinder. Total 9 simulation cases with different inflow wind directions, inflow wind speeds, and cylinder widths in the x- and y-directions are considered to examine the effects of inflow wind direction, speed, and cylinder widths on turbulent flow and vortex streets. In the control case, the inflow wind parallel to the x-direction has a maximum speed of $5m\;s^{-1}$ and the width and height of the cylinder are 50 m and 200 m, respectively. In all cases, down-drafts in front of the cylinder and updrafts, wakes, and vortex streets behind the cylinder appear. Low-speed flow below the cylinder height and high-speed flow above it are mixed behind the cylinder, resulting in strong negative vertical turbulent momentum flux at the boundary. Accordingly, the magnitude of the vertical turbulent momentum flux is the largest near the cylinder top. In the case of an inflow wind direction of $45^{\circ}$, the height of the boundary is lower than in other cases. As the inflow wind speed increases, the magnitude of the peak in the vertical profile of mean turbulent momentum flux increases due to the increase in speed difference between the low-speed and high-speed flows. As the cylinder width in the y-direction increases, the height of the boundary increases due to the enhanced updrafts near the top of the cylinder. In addition, the magnitude of the peak of the mean turbulent momentum flux increases because the low-speed flow region expands. Spectral analysis shows that the non-dimensional vortex generation frequency in the control case is 0.2 and that the cylinder width in the y-direction and the inflow wind direction affect the non-dimensional vortex generation frequency. The non-dimensional vortex generation frequency increases as the projected width of the cylinder normal to the inflow direction increases.

  • Purpose: In this study, the effect of the eye movement direction on visual function related to accommodation was investigated when playing computer games for a certain period of time. Methods: Total 60 subjects in 20s who had the visual acuity of 1.0 or higher without any ocular disease and accommodative dysfunction were asked to play computer games separately in horizontal and vertical directions for 40 and 90 minutes and then measured their accommodative amplitude, accommodative facility, accommodative lag and relative accommodations. Thevisual function when not doing the computer game was regarded as a control value, and further compared and analyzed. Results: The accommodative amplitude, accommodative facility, accommodative lag and relative accommodations showed the tendency of decrease after the computer game for 40 minutes, and more reduced values of the visual functions were shown when the computer game extended up to 90 minutes except positive relative accommodation. Positive relative accommodation had a tendency to increase slightly after the computer game for 90 minutes. Meanwhile, the change of the visual functions was primarily influenced by the eye movement in horizontal direction rather than by the eye movement in vertical direction during computer game when analyzed by the direction of eye movement. Conclusions: Over all accommodative functions tended to decrease with the extended VDT working time by computer game, and the frequent eye movement in horizontal direction during VDT tasks could be the main cause of eyestrain since the eye movement in horizontal direction rather than vertical direction significantly affected the change of accommodative function.

  • Gravity waves have been searched for with a new all-sky camera system over Korean Peninsular. The all-sky camera consists of a 37mm/F4.5 Mamiya fisheye lens with a 180 dog field of view, interference filters and a 1024 by 1024 CCD camera. The all-sky camera has been tested near Daejeon city, and moved to Mt. Bohyun where the largest astronomical telescope is operated in Korea. A clear wave pattern was successfully detected in OH filter images over Mt. Bohyun on July 18, 2001, indicating that small scale coherent gravity waves perturbed OH airglow near the mesopause. Other wave features are since then observed with Na 589.8nm and OI 630.0nm filters. Since a Japanese all-sky camera network has already detected traveling ionospheric disturbances (TID) over the northeast-southwest range of Japanese islands, we hope our all-sky camera extends the coverage of the TID's observations to the west direction. We plan to operate our all-sky camera all year around to study seasonal variation of wave activities over the mid-latitude upper atmosphere.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of interior space in his design hotel through the analysis of Tony Chi 's work and to present the direction of the design direction of the interior space of the design hotel in the future based on the results. The results are summarized as follows. First, the characteristics of the interior space of Tony Chi are divided into visual balance, repetitive rhythm, symbolic emphasis, exaggerated scale, design harmony, and physical borderlessness. Second, the spatial composition through visual balance was consistently shown in all cases, mainly by arranging elements such as furniture and lighting symmetrically. Third, the spatial composition through repetitive rhythm did not show its characteristics at the beginning of the works, but gradually appeared as repetitive rhythm expression using bold pattern. Fourth, Toni Chi constantly expressed the space composition through symbolic emphasis during the planning of the design hotel. Fifth, the exaggerated scale was mainly used to express the architectural detail vertically according to the height of the ceiling to express a grand space and appear in many works. Sixth, Toni Chi consistently expressed the composition of space through the harmony of design of oriental and western cultures, classical and modern designs in all cases. Seventh. In order to provide curiosity induction and aesthetic experience, spatial composition through physical borderlessness was used.

  • In the present study, catalytic combustion of hydrogen-air premixture in a millimeter scale monolith coated with Pt catalyst was investigated. As the combustor size decreases, the heat loss increases in proportion with the inverse of the scale of combustion chamber and combustion efficiency decreases in a conventional type of combustor. Combustion reaction assisted by catalyst can reduce the heat loss by decreasing the reaction temperature at which catalytic conversion takes place. Another advantage of catalytic combustion is that ignition is not required. Platinum was coated by incipient wetness method on a millimeter scale monolith with cell size of $1{\times}1mm$. Using this monolith as the core of the reaction chamber, temperatures were recorded at various locations along the flow direction. Burnt gas was passed to a gas chromatography system to measure the hydrogen content after the reaction. The measurements were made at various volume flow rate of the fuel-air premixture. The gas chromatography results showed the reaction was complete at all the test conditions and the reacting species penetrated the laminar boundary layer at the honeycomb and made contact with the catalyst coated surface. At all the measuring locations, the record showed monotonous increase of temperature during the measurement duration. And the temperature profile showed that the peak temperature is reached at the point nearest to the gas inlet and decreasing temperature along the flow direction.

  • In October 2019, the European Galileo navigation system operates a total of 24 satellites, two of them are in the testing phase. There are enough satellites in operation to enable precise point positioning (PPP) using Galileo signals. The number of visible satellites for Galileo in South Korea is investigated. In addition, to assess the latest performance of the Galileo kinematic PPP, data received at DAEJ reference station from October 1 to October 7, 2019, are analyzed. Galileo kinematic PPP presents some results in two categories, single-frequency PPP (SPPP) and dual-frequency PPP (DPPP). The positioning accuracy for Galileo kinematic SPPP solutions is less than 1 m root mean square (RMS) in all direction components. The Galileo kinematic DPPP achieves the positioning accuracy with an RMS value of less than 7 cm in all direction components. The results show that the latest performance of Galileo kinematic PPP at DAEJ station in South Korea is still relatively poor compared to GPS kinematic PPP. However, the residuals of Galileo code measurements are smaller than those of GPS code measurements.
