흰쥐의 사염화탄소로 유도된 간손상에 미치는 9-Amino-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroacridine의 영향 (Effect of 9-Amino-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroacridine on $CCl_4$-Induced Liver Injury in Rats)

  • This study was done to investigate the protective effect of novel 9-amino-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroacridine derivatives on the hepatoprotective effect intoxicated rats induced by carbon tetrachloride ($CCl_4$). A series of currently derivatives of 9-amino-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroacridine have been prepared through the alkly substitution or the ring expansion for the treatment of the Alzheimer's disease. The activities of aminotransferase (aspartate and alanine) and contents of alkaline phosphatase, triglyceride and glutathione S-transferase in 9-amino-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroacridine derivatives pretreated rats were significantly decreased compared to the only carbon tetrachloride treated rats but the contents of cholesterol were increased compared to the only $CCl_4$ treated rats. The result indicated that 9-amino-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroacridine derivatives showed hepatoprotective effect in $CCl_4$ treated rats.

  • A series of long chain N-acyl amino acid type anionic surfactants were prepared by treating fatty acid chlorides with three kinds of amino acids, that is, sodium N-acyl-sarcosinates, sodium N-acyl-N-methyl-${\beta}$-alaninates and sodium N-acyl-N-methyl-taurates in an alkaline solution. All prepared biodegradable surfactants were purified by thin layer chromatography and column chromatography, and identified their structures by spectral analysis.

Synthesis and Selective Transport Properties of Cleft-Type Ionophores Having Two Convergent Hydroxamic Acid Functions

  • A series of cleft-type ionophores having two convergent hydroxamic acid functions are prepared and their selective ionophoric properties toward heavy metal and transition metal ions have been investigated. Hydroxamic acids 3 exhibited a prominent selectivity toward heavy metal ions of Hg2+ and Pb2+, and transition metal ions of Cu2+ over other transition metal and alkaline earth metal ions from slightly acidic source phase (pH 6) to an acidic receiving phase (pH 1). Selective ionophoric properties toward Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions over other surveyed metal ions are also confirmed by the FAB-MS measurements.

The Recovery of Tellurium from Copper Anode Slimes by Hydrometallurgical Processes

  • The recovery of tellurium from Te-cement obtained during the processing of copper anode slimes was carried out by a series of hydrometallurgical processes, i.E. leaching Te-cement in NaOH solution, precipitation of impurities with the addition of ${Na}_{2}S$ followed by direct electrowinning of tellurium in NaOH solution. The optimum conditions for each process were determined and discussed in terms of various parameters associated with each step to maximize the recovery and purity of tellurium. The final purity of tellurium from electrownning in alkaline solution was found to be more than 99.9%.

남극 드레이크 해협 피닉스 해령 P3구역 축부 해저현무암: K-Ar 연대측정과 지구화학 (Axial Seamount Basalts in P3 Segment of Phoenix Ridge, Drake Passage, Antarctica: K-Ar Age Determination and Geochemistry)

  • The axial seamount basalts in the P3 segment of the Phoenix Ridge were obtained from dredging and the K-Ar age determination and whole-rock geochemical analyses have been done for understanding their origin. The K-Ar ages for PRS basalts sampled from 1,000m below sea level are 2.6-2.2 Ma and those for PR3 basalts from 800m are 1.6-1.5 Ma. The younger ages towards the crest of the seamount indicate that this submarine volcano has been grown by central eruptions. The youngest age of about 1.5 Ma for PR3 basalts corresponds to the final eruption period of this volcano. The seamount basalts contain small amounts of normative quartz and olivine. They have transitional geochemical nature between alkaline- and subalkaline-series basalts. Trace and rare earth elements compositions of the seamount basalts are very similar to those of ocean island basalts (OIB), and indicate that this seamount has been formed by a hotspot activity, not in association with a seafloor spreading. The melting degree from the source has decreased with time, and finally the volcanic activity has stopped when the basaltic magma reached mild alkaline composition.

Partially Hydrolyzed Crosslinked Alginate-graft-Polymethacrylamide as a Novel Biopolymer-Based Superabsorbent Hydrogel Having pH - Responsive Properties

  • In this study, a series of highly swelling hydrogels based on sodium alginate (NaAlg) and polymethacryl­amide (PMAM) was prepared through free radical polymerization. The graft copolymerization reaction was performed in a homogeneous medium and in the presence of ammonium persulfate (APS) as an initiator and N,N'-methylenebis­acrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinker. The crosslinked graft copolymer, alginate-graft-polymethacrylamide (Alg-g­PMAM), was then partially hydrolyzed by NaOH solution to yield a hydrogel, hydrolyzed alginate-graft-poly­methacrylamide (H-Alg-g-PMAM). During alkaline hydrolysis, the carboxamide groups of Alg-g-PMAM were converted into hydrophilic carboxylate anions. Either the Alg-g-PMAM or the H-Alg-g-PMAM was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy. The effects of the grafting variables (i.e., concentration of MBA, MAM, and APS) and the alkaline hydrolysis conditions (i.e., NaOH concentration, hydrolysis time, and temperature) were optimized systematically to achieve a hydrogel having the maximum swelling capacity. Measurements of the absorbency in various aqueous salt solutions indicated that the swelling capacity decreased upon increasing the ionic strength of the swelling medium. This behavior could be attributed to a charge screening effect for monovalent cations, as well as ionic cross-linking for multivalent cations. Because of the high swelling capacity in salt solutions, however, the hydrogels might be considered as anti-salt superabsorbents. The swelling behavior of the superabsorbing hydrogels was also measured in solutions having values of pH ranging from 1 to 13. Furthermore, the pH reversibility and on/off switching behavior, measured at pH 2.0 and 8.0, suggested that the synthesized hydrogels were excellent candidates for the controlled delivery of bioactive agents. Finally, we performed preliminary investigations of the swelling kinetics of the synthesized hydrogels at various particle sizes.

Synthesis and Biological Activities of Some New 3,6-Disubstituted 1,2,4-Triazolo[3,4-b]1,3,4-thiadiazole Derivatives

  • A series of aromatic hydrazides 3a-j were prepared by refluxing esters 2a-j with hydrazine hydrate in methanol, which were prepared by the esterification of 1a-j. Acetohydrazides 3a-j upon treatment with carbon disulfide and methanolic potassium hydroxide yielded potassium dithiocarbazate salts 4a-j, which on refluxing with hydrazine hydrate yielded substituted 4-amino-5-aryl-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones 5a-j. The target compounds 6a-j were synthesized by condensing furan-3-carboxylic acid in the presence of polyphosphoric acid under reflux. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, $^1H$ NMR, $^{13}C$ NMR, elemental analysis and mass spectrometric studies. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their urease, acetylcholine esterase inhibition, antioxidant and alkaline phosphatase inhibition activity. Almost all of the compounds 6a-j showed good to excellent activities against urease and acetylcholine esterase more than the reference drugs. Compounds 6f and 6g were more potent scavenger of free radicals than the reference n-propyl gallate. Compound 6b and 6h showed excellent activities of alkaline phosphatase as compare to the reference $KH_2PO_4$.

경주-감포 일대 화강암체의 악석학적 연구 (The Petrological Study on the Granitic Rocks in Kyeongju-Kampo Area)

  • 한반도 동남부 경상분지 내의 양산 단층 동부에 분포하는 경주-김포일원 4개의 소규모 화강암체에 대한 암석 기재학적 및 지화학적 특징을 밝히고, 그 기원과 상호 관계 규명에 대해 연구하였다. 야외 관찰 및 현미경 관찰에 따른 광물 함량과 조직에 근거해서 화강섬록암, 반상 화강암, 등립질 화강암의 3개 암상으로 분류하였다. 모드 분석결과에 의하면, 대본 화강암체의 북부와 남부 지역이 화강섬록암의 영역에 도시되었고 나머지는 전부 화강암 영역에 도시되었다. 본 지역의 화강암류는 비알칼리 계열 중에서도 칼크-알칼리 계열에 속한다. 희토류원소를 콘드라이트에 표준화시키면 경희토류원소가 중희토류원소보다 부화되어 있으며, 오유 화강암체와 대본 등립질 화강암체에서 가장 낮은 값을 보인다. 연구 지역의 화강암질암체 최소 용융물질의 정출 압력은 약 0.5~1 kbar이고 정출 온도는 $700~820^{\circ}C$로 추정된다. 기재적 특성과 지화학적 자료 및 동위원소 연대측정 자료들에 의하면, 오유화강암체는 팔레오세의 별개 화강암체이고 대본 화강섬록암, 산서 반상 화강암, 호암 등립질 화강암체는 에오세의 동일 기원 마그마 분화산물로 추정된다.

경남 밀양지역 납석광상과 안산암질 모암의 지구화학적 연구 (A Geochemical Study on Pyrophyllite Deposits and Andesitic Wall-Rocks in the Milyang Area, Kyeongnam Province)

  • Several pyrophyllite deposits occur around the Milyang area where Cretaceous andesitic rocks and spatially related granitic rocks are widely distributed. Pyrophyllite ores consist mainly of pyrophyllite, and quartz with small amount of sericite, pyrite, dumortierite, and diaspore. The andesitic rocks and spatially related granitic rocks in this area suggest that they could be formed from the same series of a calc-alkaline magma series. The contents of $SiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, LOI(loss on ignition) are enriched, and $K_2O$, $Na_2O$, CaO, MgO, $Fe_2O_3$ are depleted in altered andesitic rocks and ores. Enrichment of As, Cr, Sr, V, Sb and depletion of Ba, Cs, Ni, Rb, U, Y, Co, Sc, Zn are characteristic during mineralization. The pyrophyllite ores can be discriminated from the altered-and unaltered wall-rocks by an increasing of $(La/Lu)_{cn}$ from 4.18~22.13 to 8.98~55.05. In R-mode cluster analysis, Yb-Lu-Y, La-Ce-Hf-Th-U-Zr, $TiO_2-V-Al_2O_3$, Sm-Eu, $CaO-Na_2O-MnO$, Cu-Zn-Ag, $K_2O-Rb$ are closely correlated. In the discriminant analysis of multi-element data, $P_2O_5$, As, Cr and $Fe_2O_3$, Sr are helpful to identify the ores from the unaltered-and altered wall-rocks. In the factor analysis, the factors of alteration of andesitic rocks and ore mineralization were extracted. In the change of ions per unit volume, $SiO_2$, $Al^{3+}$ and LOI are enriched and $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$ and $Fe^{3+}$ are depleted during the alteration processes. The Milyang and the Sungjin pyrophyllite deposits could be mineralized by hydrothermal alteration in a geochemical condition of low activity ratio of alkaline ions to hydrogen ion with reference to spatially related granitic rocks.

포항 달전리 주상절리와 뇌성산 뇌록산지의 현무암 비교 분석 (Petrological Study on Basaltic Rocks of the Daljeon-ri Columnar Joint and the Noeseongsan Noerok Site in Pohang, Korea)

  • 포항 달전리 주상절리(천연기념물 제415호)와 뇌성산 뇌록산지(천연기념물 제547호)는 중요한 지질 유산적 가치를 지니고 있기 때문에 두 지역의 현무암체에 대한 암석학적 연구를 수행하였다. 달전리 주상절리의 현무암은 감람석과 휘석이 반정으로 나타나며 침상의 사장석, 휘석, 불투명 광물 등이 기질을 이루는 반상조직을 보인다. 반면 뇌록산지의 현무암은 미정질의 기질에 사장석, 감람석, 휘석 반정을 함유하고 있으며, 사장석 반정이 특징적으로 나타난다. 또한, 전암대자율, XRD, XRF 분석 결과에서도 두 지역의 현무암은 서로 뚜렷이 구분되는 특성을 가진다. 화학분석 결과를 TAS와 Zr-Ti 다이어그램에 도시 결과, 전자는 대부분 알칼리 계열의 포노테프라이트(phonotephrite)의 조성을 가지며 판내부환경(within-plate basalt)에서 형성된 것으로 판단되며, 후자는 칼크-알칼리 계열의 현무암질 안산암 내지 안산암 조성을 가지며, 화산호(volcanic arc basalt)의 영역에 도시된다. 따라서 두 현무암은 기원 맨틀 물질에 차이가 있으며, 이러한 차이는 신생대 마이오세의 지체구조 환경 변화에 기인한 것으로 판단된다.
