알루미늄 확산코팅재료의 주기산화 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cyclic Oxidation Properties of Aluminum Diffusion Coated Materials)

  • The protective oxide scales and coatings formed on high temperature materials must be preserved in high temperature atmosphere. And the thermal stresses induced by thermal cycling and the growth stresses by the formation of oxide scales can cause the loss of adherence and spalling of the oxide scales and coated layers. Among the coating processes Al diffusion coating is favored due to thermochemical stability and superior adherence in an hostile atmosphere. In this study, protective oxide forming element, Al was coated on Ni, Inconel 600 and 690 by diffusion coating process varying coating temperature and time. And the surface stability and adherence of oxide scales formed on those Al diffusion coated materials were evaluated by thermal cycling test. Al diffusion coated specimens showed superior cyclic oxidation resistance compared to bare ones and specimens coated for longer period had better cyclic oxidation resistance, due to the abundant amount of Al in the coated layer. Meanwhile Al diffusion coated Inconel 600 and 690 showed improved cyclic oxidation resistance by the effect of Al in the coated layer and Cr in the substrate. Comparing both Al diffusion coated Inconel 600 and 690, Al diffusion coated Inconel 690 maintained better adhesion between coated layer and substrate by virtue of the bridging effect resulting from the segregation of Cr in the interdiffusion zone.

Research on the Solution and Properties of Ni-P/n-$Al_2O_3$ Electroless Composite Plating

  • In order to further improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the Ni-P coatings of electroless plating, electroless Ni-P/n-$Al_2O_3$ composite deposits were prepared by adding some nano $Al_2O_3$ Particles in Ni-P plating bath. The bath composition and proproties were studied in this paper. The orthogonal test was applied in order to get the new composite solution, taking the initial stable potential as evaluation standard and considering the elements correlation at the same time. The processing parameters have been optimized by single factor experiment in which the depositing speed was chosen as the evaluation standard. The results showed that the process is stable and the composite Ni-P/n-$Al_2O_3$ deposits werebright and smooth, whose hardness and corrosion resistance are much better than simple Ni-P coatings. Furthermore the surface appearance and structure of the composite Ni-P/n-$Al_2O_3$ coating were investigated by SEM and XRD method. It was proved that the coating surface is typical cystiform cells and its structure is amorphous. All test results ofcomposite coating showed that all various physical coating properties had been improved by adding nano-particles. The hardness of optimal coating is more than 600HV and increases to 1000HV after heat-treating, and its hardness is 20~50% higher than Ni-P coating. The rust points appeared in 200 hour by immersing the coating into the 10%HCl solution and the corrosive speed is $3{\times}10^{-3}mg/(cm^2{\cdot}h)$which was obtained after 300 hour. In the same condition Ni-P coating is $5.6{\times}10^{-3}mg/(cm^2{\cdot}h)$. The salt spray resistance of the layers can exceed 600h with the thickness $20{\mu}m$.

  • 가시광선영역에서 높은 광학적 투명도를 갖는 n-type 반도체인 ZnO 박막은 넓은 범위에서 응용되고 있다. 현재 ZnO 박막의 특성 향상을 위하여 여러 원소(Al, Ga)의 도핑을 시도하고 있다. 특히 Al-doped ZnO 박막은 sol-gel dip coating에 의해서도 높은 전기전도도와 투과율로 활발히 연구되고 있다 본 논문에서는 여러 도핑농도를 갖는 Al-doped ZnO 박막이 sol-gel dip coating법에 의해 준비되었다. Al-doped ZnO 박막은 zinc acetate [Zn($CH_3$COO$_2$)ㆍ2$H_2O$] powder 와 여러 도핑농도를 갖는 aluminum nitrate (Al(NO$_3$)$_3$ㆍ9$H_2O$) powder를 알코올에 용해하여 $H_2O$, Ethylene glycol, Ethylene diamine 등을 첨가하여 제조하였다 XRD와 SEM (Scanning electron microscope)이 막의 상형성 분석을 위해 이용되었으며, 가시광선 영역 투과율(UV/VIS spectrophotometer)과 표면전기저항(four point probe)이 주요 특성으로 분석되었다.

Multi-con와 ALPT을 활용한 TiAlN코팅층 표면연마 초경호브의 절삭특성 및 공구수명 평가 (Evaluation Tool Life and Cutting Characteristics of Carbide Hob TiAlN Coating Surface Polishing Using Aero Lap Polishing Technology and Multi-con)

  • SCM420 steel cutting gear to improve the durability is quenched. When quenching, increases surface hardness, a change of the physical properties and machinability or fall. This study, using a solid carbide hobs skiving hobbing gear cutting finishing. And cutting tool solid carbide TiAlN coating hove when TiAlN coating on the surface of multi-con polishing hob conducted aero lap nano polishing for each cutting. Experimental results conducted aero lap nano coating on the surface polishing tool machinability was excellent. And aero lap nano polishing tool results were reduced 2.5 times the tool wear compared to TiAlN coated tools. Excellent results were 1.42 times longer tool life.

Characterization of Ceramic Oxide Layer Produced on Commercial Al Alloy by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation in Various KOH Concentrations

  • Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is a promising coating process to produce ceramic oxide on valve metals such as Al, Mg and Ti. The PEO coating is carried out with a dilute alkaline electrolyte solution using a similar technique to conventional anodizing. The coating process involves multiple process parameters which can influence the surface properties of the resultant coating, including power mode, electrolyte solution, substrate, and process time. In this study, ceramic oxide coatings were prepared on commercial Al alloy in electrolytes with different KOH concentrations (0.5 ~ 4 g/L) by plasma electrolytic oxidation. Microstructural and electrochemical characterization were conducted to investigate the effects of electrolyte concentration on the microstructure and electrochemical characteristics of PEO coating. It was revealed that KOH concentration exert a great influence not only on voltage-time responses during PEO process but also on surface morphology of the coating. In the voltage-time response, the dielectric breakdown voltage tended to decrease with increasing KOH concentration, possibly due to difference in solution conductivity. The surface morphology was pancake-like with lower KOH concentration, while a mixed form of reticulate and pancake structures was observed for higher KOH concentration. The KOH concentration was found to have little effect on the electrochemical characteristics of coating, although PEO treatment improved the corrosion resistance of the substrate material significantly.

Manufacturing and Macroscopic Properties of Kinetic Spray Ni-Cr-Al-Y Coating Layer

  • This study attempts to manufacture a Ni-Cr-Al-Y coating layer using a kinetic spray process and investigates the microstructure and physical properties of the manufactured layer. The Ni-22Cr-10Al-1Y (wt.%) composition powder is used, and it has a spherical shape with an average diameter of $23.7{\mu}m$. Cu plate is used as the substrate. Optical microscope, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and Vickers hardness test are carried out to characterize the macroscopic properties of the coating layer. Furthermore, the coating layer underwent vacuum heat treatment at temperatures of $400^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour to check the effect of heat treatment temperature on the properties. The manufactured coating layer is 1.5 mm thick, and featured identical phases to those found in the powder. The porosity of the coating layer is measured at 2.99%, and the hardness is obtained at $490.57H_v$. The layer shows reduced porosity as heat treatment temperature increased, and hardness is reduced at $400^{\circ}C$ but shows a slight increase at $600^{\circ}C$. Based on the findings described above, this study also discusses possible manufacturing methods for a Ni-Cr-Al-Y coating layer using the kinetic spray process.

NI/$MgAl_2O_4$코팅된 금속 모노리스 촉매의 수소 생산을 위한 천연가스 수증기 개질 반응특성에 관한 연구 (The Performance of NI/$MgAl_2O_4$ Coated Metal Monolith in Natural Gas Steam Reforming for Hydrogen Production)

  • The metal monolith catalyst coated with 15wt% Ni/$MgAl_2O_4$ is applied to the natural gas steam reforming for hydrogen production. To address the improvement of adherence between metal monolith and catalyst coating layer, the pre-calcination temperature as well as the coating conditions of $Al_2O_3$ sol are optimized. When the Fe-Cr alloy monolith is pre-calcined at $900^{\circ}C$ for 6 h, $Al_2O_3$ layer was formed uniformly on the entire surface of the metal substrate. It is seen that the formation of $Al_2O_3$ layer on the monolith surface is essential for the uniform coating of $Al_2O_3$ sol onto the monolith substrate. The monolith catalyst coated with 10wt% $Al_2O_3$ sol shows high $CH_4$ conversion and good thermal stability as compared with the monolith catalyst without $Al_2O_3$ sol coating under severe reaction conditions with high GHSV of 30,000 $h^{-1}$ at $700^{\circ}C$. In addition, the metal monolith catalyst shows higher catalytic activity and better thermal conductivity than 15wt% Ni/$MgAl_2O_4$ pellet catalyst.

DC 스퍼터법과 유도결합 플라즈마를 이용한 마그네트론 스퍼터링으로 제작된 나노결정질 TiAlN 코팅막의 물성 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of Nanocrystalline TiAlN Coatings Fabricated by Direct Current and Inductively Coupled Plasma Assisted Magnetron Sputtering)

  • Nanocrystalline TiAlN coatings were prepared by reactively sputtering TiAl metal target with $N_2$ gas. This was done using a magnetron sputtering system operated in DC and ICP (inductively coupled plasma) conditions at various power levels. The effect of ICP power (from 0 to 300 W) on the coating microstructure, corrosion and mechanical properties were systematically investigated using FE-SEM, AFM and nanoindentation. The results show that ICP power has a significant influence on coating microstructure and mechanical properties of TiAlN coatings. With increasing ICP power, the coating microstructure evolved from the columnar structure typical of DC sputtering processes to a highly dense one. Average grain size of TiAlN coatings decreased from 15.6 to 5.9 nm with increasing ICP power. The maximum nano-hardness (67.9 GPa) was obtained for the coatings deposited at 300 W of ICP power. The smoothest surface morphology (Ra roughness 5.1 nm) was obtained for the TiAlN coating sputtered at 300 W ICP power.

Surface Treatment of LiFePo4 Cathode Material for Lithium Secondary Battery

  • In this study, nano-crystallized $Al_2O_3$ was coated on the surface of $LiFePO_4$ powders via a novel dry coating method. The influence of coated $LiFePO_4$ upon electrochemical behavior was discussed. Surface morphology characterization was achieved by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), clearly showing nano-crystallized $Al_2O_3$ on $LiFePO_4$ surfaces. Furthermore, it revealed that the $Al_2O_3$-coated $LiFePO_4$ cathode exhibited a distinct surface morphology. It was also found that the $Al_2O_3$ coating reduces capacity fading especially at high charge/discharge rates. Results from the cyclic voltammogram measurements (2.5-4.2 V) showed a significant decrease in both interfacial resistance and cathode polarization. This behavior implies that $Al_2O_3$ can prevent structural change of $LiFePO_4$ or reaction with the electrolyte on cycling. In addition, the $Al_2O_3$ coated $LiFePO_4$ compound showed highly improved area-specific impedance (ASI), an important measure of battery performance. From the correlation between these characteristics of bare and coated $LiFePO_4$, the role of $Al_2O_3$ coating played on the electrochemical performance of $LiFePO_4$ was probed.

하이브리드 코팅에 의한 고경도 소재용 Ti-Al-Si-N코팅 엔드밀의 절삭성능평가 (Cutting Performance of Ti-Al-Si-N Coated Endmill for High-Hardened materials by Hybrid Coating System)

  • Hard coatings are known to improve the performance of cutting tools in aggressive machining applications, such as high speed machining. New superhard Ti-Al-Si-W films, characterized by a nanocomposite nano-sized (Ti,Al,Si)N crystallites embedded in amorphous $Si_3 N_4$ matrix, could be successfully synthesized on WC-Co substrates by a hybrid coating system of arc ion plating(AIP) and sputtering method. The hardness of Ti-Al-Si-N film increased with incorporation of Si, and had the maximum value ~50 GPa at the Si content of 9 at.%, respectively. And the X-ray diffraction patterns of Ti-Al-Si-N films with various Si content is investigated. In this study, Ti-Al-Si-N coatings were applied to end-mill tools made of WC-Co material by a hybrid coating system. Cutting tests fir the high-hardened material (STD11,$H_R$)C62 and their performances in high speed cutting conditions were studied. Also, the tool wear and tool lift of Ti-Al-Si-N with various si(6, 9, 19) contents were measured.
