용탕단조법에 의한 고강도 Mg-Li-Al합금 제조 (Fabrication of High Strength Mg-Li-Al Alloys by Squeeze Casting Process)

  • Fabrication of high strength Mg-Li-Al alloys by squeeze casting was established by the stabilization of melt and mold temperatures, applied pressure and the refining method. The entrapment of inclusions during pouring was prevented using 30 ppi alumina foam filter. The as-cast microstructure consists of a mixture of ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ phases including AILi and $MgLi_2$, Al particles, which are distributed in the ${\beta}$ matrix. The grain sizes of gravity and squeeze casting alloys were 288 ${\mu}m$ and 207 ${\mu}m$ respectively. The addition of Al in Mg-Li alloys promoted the formation of second phase particles, which were adjusted to optimize the properties of Mg-Li-Al alloys. The Mg-10wt%Li-5wt%Al alloy after heat treatment at $350^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour showed the maximum hardness value. This is due to the facts that the amounts of ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ phases and their distributions are dependent upon the solution treatment temperature, and that the amounts of AILi and $MgLi_2Al$ particles are dependent upon the Al content.

  • 6061Al-matrix composite with TiNi shape memory fiber as reinforcement has been fabricated by Permanent Mold Casting to investigate the mechanical properties of the smart composites. The composites have showed good interface bonding as a result of the analysis of SEM and EDX. The smartness of composite is given due to the shape memory effect of the TiNi fiber which generates compressive residual stresses in the matrix material when heated after being prestrained. The tensile strength of the composites was tested at temperatures between $90^{\circ}C$ and room temperature with increasing amount of pre-strain, and it showed that the tensile strength at $90^{\circ}C$ was higher than that of the room temperature. Especially, the tensile strength of the composite increases with increasing pre-strain. It showed that hardness of matrix was higher than that of common 6061Al alloy.

  • The use of Zn-Al-Mg alloy coatings for enhancing the corrosion resistance of steel sheets is gaining prominence over traditional Zn coatings. There is a growing demand for the development of thermal spray wires made from Zn-Al-Mg alloys, as a replacement for the existing wires produced using Al and Zn. This is particularly crucial to secure corrosion resistance and durability in the damaged areas of coated steel sheets caused by deformation and welding. This study focuses on the casting and extrusion processes of Zn-2Al-1Mg alloy for the fabrication of such spray wires and analyzes the changes in microstructure during the extrusion process. The Zn-2Al-1Mg alloy, cast in molds, was subjected to a heat treatment at 250 ℃ for 3 hours prior to extrusion. The extrusion process was carried out by heating both the material and the mold up to 300 ℃. Microstructural analysis was conducted using FE-SEM and EDS to differentiate each phase. The mechanical properties of the cast specimen were evaluated through compression tests at temperatures ranging from 200 to 300 ℃, with strain rates of 0.1 to 5 sec-1. Vickers hardness testing was utilized to assess the inhomogeneity of mechanical properties in the radial direction of the extruded material. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was employed to understand the inhomogeneity in stress and strain distribution during extrusion, which aids in understanding the impact of heterogeneous deformation on the microstructure during the process.

  • In order to clarify the solidification mechanism of Al-Si alloy, Mushy Degree of Eutectic Solidification (MDE) and Centerline Feeding Resistance (CFR) were systematically studied by casting with various compositions of $Al-(6{\sim}18%)$ Si alloys into several kinds of molds having different cooling rates. The results are as follows: 1. CFR% increases slightly as solute concentration increases, but decreases remarkably as the cooling rate of the mold increases, that is, the composition dependence of the alloys has more effect on the change of CFR% than that of the mold cooling rate. 2. The composition dependence of MDE value has the same tendency as that of Degree of Eutectic Solidification (DES). MDE value within the range of hypereutectic composition is larger than that of hypoeutectic and it represents the maximum value at eutectic composition. The higher the cooling rate is, the less the MDE value is.

고온 액상 성형용 금형 수명 향상을 위한 TiAlCrSiN 코팅의 특성 (Characteristics of TiAlCrSiN coating to improve mold life for high temperature liquid molding)

  • High-entropy TiAlCrSiN nano-composite coating was designed to improve mold life for high temperature liquid molding. Alloy design, powder fabrication and single alloying target fabrication for the high-entropy nano-composite coating were carried out. Using the single alloying target, an arc ion plating method was applied to prepare a TiAlCrSiN nano-composite coating had a 30 nm TiAlCrSiN layers are deposited layer by layer, and form about 4 ㎛-thickness of multi-layered coating. TiAlCrSiN nano-composite coating had a high hardness of about 39.9 GPa and a low coefficient of friction of less than about 0.47 in a dry environment. In addition, there was no change in the structure of the coating after the dissolution loss test in the molten metal at a temperature of about 1100 degrees.

알루미늄합금(合金) 주물(鑄物)의 급탕(給湯)거리에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Feeding Distance of Aluminium Alloy Casting)

  • In order to determine the feeding distance of aluminiun alloys (Alsi7Mg and AlCu4Ti) bar castings in the sand mold, the distance of the sound castings has been observed by radiograph for various risers, melt treatment, and casting design. Variation of porosity and hardness with the distance from the riser were also measured in order to determine the casting soundness. The results obained were as follows; 1) The modulus of riser should be 1.4 times of the casting`s 2) The maximum distance which can be made sound is greatly dependent on chemical composition and ingate location, and follows the rules given by the formula; a) When the melt flows into the casting first, and the riser afterward, D = 37.7 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for AlSi7Mg D = 31.2 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for pure aluminium D ${\ge}$ 54.8 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for AlCu4Ti Where T = casting thickness in mm Of this maximum distance, $aa{\sqrt{T}}$ for AlSi7Mg and 7.5 ${\sqrt{T}}$ for pure aluminium is made sound by the chilling effect of the casting edge. b) When the melt flows into the casting passing through the riser, $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars can be made sound in all cases 3) Percentage of porosity is higer in AlCu4Ti than AlSi7Mg. And it is increased gradually by moving closer to the riser in case of $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars, but for the $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars it is increased gradually by moving closer to the center of bars. 4) Hardness variation is similar to the tendency of porosity. And it decreased gradually with approaching to the center in case of $30{\times}30{\times}600mm$ bars.

  • Al-Si-Cu 합금은 구리 첨가에 따른 석출경화로 경도와 강도가 현저하게 강한 합금을 생성하는 장점이 있습니다. 그러나 구리를 첨가하면 Al-Si-Cu 합금의 응고 범위가 확장되고 합금은 응고 중에 발생하는 가장 흔하고 심각한 파단 현상 중 하나 열간 균열이 발생하기 쉽습니다. 합금의 열간 균열 특성에 대한 기존의 평가 방법은 이 특성에 대한 정량적 데이터를 제공하지 않는 상대적이고 정성적인 분석 방법입니다. 이 연구에서 Al-Si-Cu 주조 합금의 열간 균열 특성에 대한 더 신뢰할 수있는 정량 데이터를 얻기 위해 Instone et. al 이 개발 한 장치를 부분적으로 수정되었습니다. Cu 원소의 영향을 평가하기 위해 Al-Si-Cu 계 합금에서 4 가지 수준의 Cu 함량을 (0.5, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0) wt. %로 설정하고 각 합금에 대해 열간 균열 특성을 평가했습니다. Cu 함량이 증가함에 따라 열간 균열 강도는 (2.26, 1.53, 1.18, 1.04) MPa)로 감소했습니다. 열간 균열이 발생하는 시점, Cu 함량이 증가함에 따라 고액 공존 범위가 증가하여 동일 온도에서 해당 고상율 및 응고 속도가 감소하였다. 파단면의 형태는 수상 돌기에서 잔류 액상으로 덮인 수상 돌기로 바뀌었고, 열간 균열 발생 인근에서 CuAl2 상이 관찰되었다.

TiNi 형상기억합금을 이용한 복합재료의 제조 및 계면 특성 (Fabrication and Interface Properties of TiNi/6061Al Composite)

  • TiNi shape memory alloy was shape memory heat-treated and investigated its mechanical properties with the variation of prestrain. Also 6061 Al matrix composites with TiNi shape memory alloy fiber as reinforcement have been fabricated by Permanent Mold Casting to investigate the microstructures and interface properties. Yield stress of TiNi wire was the most high in the case of before heat-treatment and then decreased as increasing heat-treatment time. In each heat-treatment condition, the yield stress of TiNi wire was not changed with increasing the amount of prestrain. The interface bonding of TiNi/6061Al composite was fine. There was a 2$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness of diffusion reaction layer at the interface. We could find out that this diffusion reaction layer was made by the mutual diffusion. The diffusion rate from Al base to TiNi wire was faster than that of reverse diffusion and the amount of the diffusion was also a little more than that of reverse.

  • The effects of Ti, B and Zr on grain refinement and castability were investigated in Al-4wt%Mg-0.9wt%Si-0.3wt%Mn-0.15wt%Fe alloy. Measurement of cooling curve and micro-structure observation were performed to analyze the effects of the addition of minor elements Ti, B and Zr during solidification. The prominence of effect on grain refinement was in increasing order for Ti, Zr and B element. Fine grain size and an increase of the crystallization temperature for ${\alpha}$-Al solution were evident as the amount of addition elements increased in this study. Addition of 0.15wt% Ti was most effective for grain refinement, and the resulting grain size of ${\alpha}$-Al solution for shell mold and steel mold were $72.3{\mu}m$ and $23.5{\mu}m$, respectively. Fluidity and shrinkage tests were perform to evaluate the castability of the alloy. Maximum fluidity length and minimum ratio of micro shrinkage were recorded for 0.15wt% Ti addition due to the effect of the finest grain size.

치과용 티타늄 및 Ti-25wt%Pd 주조체의 표면반응생성물 (Surface Reaction Products of CP- Ti and Ti-25wt%Pd Castings Used for Dental Application)

  • 본 연구에서는 치과용 티타늄(CP-Ti)과 Ti-25wt%Pd를 인산염계 실리카$.$알루미나 주형재로 주조 후 SEM/EDS, XRD, XPS를 이용하여 주조시 생성되는 표면반응생성물을 조사하였다. Ti-25wt%Pd는 CP-Ti에 비하여 융점이 현저이 감소하여 주조체의 표면반응이 상대적으로 적게 발생하였다. 또한 인산염계 실리카$.$알루미나 주형재를 소성한 결과 주형재는 $SiO_2$, $Al_2$ $O_3$, P$_2$ $O_{5}$, $Mg_3$(P $O_4$)$_2$, AlP $O_4$, $Mg_2$ $SiO_4$, MgAl$_2$ $O_4$의 성분들로 구성되어 있었으며, 표면반응생성물은 CP-Ti 주조체의 경우 $Ti_{5}$Si$_3$ 와 Ti $O_2$로, Ti-25wt%Pd 주조체의 경우 Ti $O_2$$SiO_{x}$ 로 구성되어 있었다.
