This paper investigates strength characteristics and stress-strain behaviors of unreinforced and reinforced lightweight soils. Lightweight soil, composed of dredged soil, cement, and air-foam, was reinforced by a waste fishing net, in order to increase its compressive strength. Test specimens were fabricated by various mixing conditions, such as cement content, initial water content, air content, and waste fishing net; then, unconfined compression tests were carried out on these specimens. From the test results, it was shown that reinforced lightweight soil had different behavior after failure, even though it had similar behavior as unreinforced lightweight soil before failure. The test results also showed that stress became constant after peak strength in reinforced lightweight soil, while the stress decreased continuously in unreinforced lightweight soil. It was observed that the strength was increased due to reinforcing effect by the waste fishing net for most cases, except high water content greater than $218\%$. In the case of high water content, a reinforcing effect is negligible, due to slip between waste fishing net and soil particles. In reinforced lightweight soil, secant modulus (E50) was increased, due to the inclusion of waste fishing net.

Contaminants such as fatty acids, triglycerides, resin acids and foam collected from a high yield sulfite weak liquor storage tank lowered the water surface tension and reduced inter-fibre bonding but also tended to benefit sheet opacity. Some common wet end additives such as defoamers and dispersants gave similar results. Lignosulfonate and naphthalene sulfonate showed little if any negative effect on both surface tension and sheet strength properties. Among the natural wood extractives. fatty acids were identified to be most detrimental followed by triglycerides and then resin acids. In order to alleviate the detrimental impact of these contaminants, membrane separation, air floatation and ozone treatment were carried out on paper machine white water samples. The effect of these treatments on removal of fatty and resin acids was quantified by a GC-Mass analysis. Reverse osmosis with a 1000 molecular weight cut off membrane failed to totally reject fatty and resin acids, but markedly reduced losses of sheet properties due to contaminants. Ozone treatment resulted in a significant increase of the surface tension and air floatation was considered to be a practical and useful method for removing fatty and resin acids from the machine white water.
According to the rapid development of the electric industry, the demand of the frequency allocation and the usage of electromagnetic wave are increased due to automation of modem society. Electromagnetic wave absorbers for anechoic chamber are needed to broaden the effective frequency bandwidth, reduce the thickness, and decrease the weight. There are various absorbers proposed for the above conditions, but they could not decisively solve the above requirements. The Electromagnetic wave absorber made by a conventional ferrite tile has, for example, broadened the effective frequency bandwidth by the way of forming air layer(practically in urethane foam, etc.) on the ferrite tile. Therefore, an air layer is formed between a reflection plate and a sintered Ni-Zn ferrite tile of 7 mm in thickness, which has reflectivity less than -20 dB from 30 MHz to 400 MHz in bandwidth. In this paper, a broadband electromagnetic wave absorber are designed, which has the reflection characteristics less than -20 dB from 30 MHz to 8,000 MHz in the bandwidth. A super broadband electromagnetic wave absorber is achieved by inserting square Ferrite Cylinders Type with the thickness less than 23.5 mm and with the frequency band from 30 MHz to 8,000 MHz under the above tolerance limits. The purpose of this research is on the development of a universal anechoic chamber for measuring radiated electromagnetic wave or immunity of electronic equipments, GTEM-cell and also a wall material for preventing TV ghost, etc.

Water aeration is an effective water treatment process, which involves the injection of air or air-water mixture into water treatment reservoir commonly through pipes. The main purpose of water aeration is to maintain healthy levels of dissolved oxygen (DO), which is the most important water quality factor. The pipes' operating conditions are important for controlling the efficiency and effectiveness of aeration process. Many studies have been conducted on two-phase flows in pipes, however, there are a few studies to deal with small s ale in millimeter. The main objective of this study is to perform 2-dimensional two-phase simulations inside various straight pipes using the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) OpenFOAM (Open source Field Operation And Manipulation) tools to examine the influence of flow patterns on bubble size, which is closely related to DO concentration in a water body. The both flow regimes, laminar and turbulence, have been considered in this study. For turbulence, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) has been applied. The coalescence and breakage of bubbles caused by random collisions and turbulent eddies, respectively, are considered in this research. Sauter mean bubble diameter and water velocity are compared against experimental data. The simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental measurements.

In this paper, we designed the array antenna for FMCW radar in X - band frequency, and we chose stacked structure for improvement of narrow bandwidth. The array antenna is implemented on the circuit board which is relative permittivity 2.33 and the stacked patchs are designed on the circuit board which is relative permittivity 4.6. A Foam which has a similar permittivity of air is added to keep the particular gap between array antenna and the stacked patch. The result of array antenna has characteristics that a half-power beam width is $10.6^{\circ}$ and antenna gain is 18.70 dBi and bandwidth is 1.25GHz at the design frequency of 9GHz. The result of the array antenna with the stacked structure has that the half power beam width is $15.17^{\circ}$ and the antenna gain is 15.85dBi and bandwidth is 2GHz. It is needed to improve the antenna gain as keeping bandwidth in same level.
In this study, we compared and analyzed the flame retardancy and mechanical properties of three different rigid polyurethane foams (RPUF) containing noble non-halogen phosphorus flame retardant (BHP-RPUF) or halogen-phosphorus flame retardant (TCPP-RPUF) or no flame retardant material (Pure-RPUF). The noble phosphorus-based flame retardant, bis(3-(3-hydroxypropoxy)propyl) phenyl phosphate (BHP), was synthesized by the reaction between disodium phenyl phosphate and 3-chloro-1-propanol. Through universal testing machine (UTM) experiments, the compressive strength of BHP-RPUF was similar to that of TCPP-RPUF. From the result of foam morphology analysis, it was confirmed that BHP-RPUF has the lowest thermal conductivity of $0.023W/m{\cdot}K$. We also measured the size of air bubbles using reaction velocity and SEM, and analyzed how they affect the thermal conductivity. In addition, the heat-resisting property was investigated through TGA analysis. The limited oxygen index (LOI) test confirmed that BHP had the ability to increase the flame retardancy of RPUF.
The purpose of the study was to examine make-up expression elements of horror characters as an evil spirit, a vampire, a zombie, a monster and a psycho murderer through make-up, focused on horror movies of the United States after1960s. First, an evil spirit was expressed that the pupil grew dim without a focus and the skin was torn by going bad and rot completely. Also, it was expressed that its teeth was changed to pointed canine teeth as a wild beast and its pale and bloodless face showed blood vessels clearly. To express its bloodless and pale skin, air brush was swept into the skin over several times. Its canine tooth was made acryl powder into its shape and was harden to make its shape smooth. Also, it was colored to show people like the real thing. Second, a vampire was expressed by make-up elements as long nails, a sharp canine tooth, a pale skin with a blood vessel and dead eyes. Its rough skin and long nails were manufactured with latex foam, which was colored like the skin. Third, a monster image as a werewolf was expressed by make-up elements as fur, sharp teeth, changed nails and toenails, a rough skin and a face changed to a wolf. Rubber mask and rubber body suit were manufactured as a make-up of special character and so all its body was changed. Fourth, a psycho murderer and body-deformed man were expressed by make-up elements as a distorted mask, swelled-up and deformed skull and face form, terribly deformed body, discolored and hang down skin and teeth with an indeterminate form. Its body and face were manufactured by the foam latex technology according to make-up design as a make-up of special character.
This study was carried out to compare the effect of caustic soda with the effect of caustic potash on cotton fabric. Instead of caustic potash, sodium carbonate similar in chemical composition to caustic potash was used. The damage of cotton cellulose by repeated washing in various alkaline solutions at 8$0^{\circ}C$, 60 rpm was examined. The damage of cotton cellulose by the variation of copper number, carboxyl content, degree of polymerization and retained tensile strength was estimated. The results obtained at this study are as follows; 1. The damage of cotton by caustic soda was severer than caustic potash. The retained tensile strength at 50 washing cycle in caustic soda was 59% and in sodium carbonate was 80%. 2. By adding soap to caustic soda, the damage of cotton fabric decreased because contact area between fabric and air diminished by foam. 3. Detergency of EMPA 101 in caustic soda was lower than sodium carbonate. Consequently, using caustic soda that damage fabric severely and have lower detergency for caustic potash is unreasonable.
Design of microwave absorbers using high frequency properties of fiber reinforced composites are investigated. Two kinds of composite materials (glass and carbon) are used and their complex permittivity and permeability are measured by transmission/reflection technique using network analyzer. Low dielectric constant and nearly zero dielectric loss are determined in glass fiber composite. However, carbon fiber composites show the high dielectric constant and large conduction loss which is increased with anisotropy of fiber arrangement. It is, therefore, proposed that the glass and carbon fiber composites can be used as the impedance transformer (surface layer) and microwave reflector, respectively. By inserting the foam core or honeycomb core (which can be treated as an air layer) between glass and carbon fiber composites, microwave absorption above 10 dB (90% absorbance) in 4-12 GHz can be obtained. The proposed fiber composites laminates with sandwitch structure have high potential as lightweight and high strength microwave absorbers.
The open source software OpenFOAM is utilised to simulate the water entry and hydrodynamic impact process of 2D wedges and ship hull sections. Incompressible multiphase flow solver interDyMFoam is employed to calculate the free fall of structure from air into water using dynamically deforming mesh technique. Both vertical and oblique entry of wedges of various dead-rise angles have been examined. A convergence study of dynamics as well as kinematics of the flow problem is carried out on successively refined meshes. Obtained results are presented and compared to the experimental measurements showing good agreement and reasonable mesh convergence of the solution.
