Fine Gap Control System Design Using Pneumatics servo System

  • The research focuses on controlling a gap to measure the surface defect in semi-conductor fabrication device. The measurement is available accompanying a near field image gap control. In this article, a pneumatic servo system is adopted for the near field gap control. The advantage of the pneumatic servo system is on the preventing the possibility of contacting the device to the wapper surface, fence arising fatal damage. Furthermore, the air from the pneumatic system blows the some particle on the wapper during controlling. The target gap is less than 20 $\mu$m and the gap should keep same amount while the device moves around the surface. The experiment by the pneumatic servo control system is done by employing a simple PID control, and the tracking performance is remarkably verified.   • When an induction motor is lightly loaded, the efficiency can be very substantially improved by controlling the air gap flux. Thus in the system which requires constant speed under either normal load or light load, it is possible to save energy by means of controlling the air gap flux. In this paper, the required relationships between stator current and rotor slip frequency for optimal efficiency control is derived and the improved control loop is suggested.

  • This paper proposes a coordinated control for an independent multi-phase transverse flux linear synchronous motor (IM-TFLSM) based on magnetic levitation. The stator structures of the IM-TFLSM are composed of a two set, which has independent three-phase windings and a double-sided air-gap as opposed to the conventional Y-connected three-phase linear motors. A suitable control algorithm is necessary to operate the applied linear machine. This study proposes a coordinated control algorithm for adjusting the mover air-gap and thrust force of the IM-TFLSM in order to maintain air-gap and phase shifted current control of the independent 3-phase modules. In addition, the principle of operation and its special structures are described in detail and the validity and effectiveness of the control algorithm is verified through multiple experimental results.

  • Casting structures and properties are determined by the solidification speed in the metal mold. The heat transfer characteristics of the interface between the mold and the casting is one of the major factors that control the solidification speed. According to Sully's research, the thermal resistance exists due to the air-gap formation at the mold-casting interface during the freezing process and the interface heat transfer coefficient is used to describe the degree of it. In this study, one-dimensional Stefan problem with air-gap resistance in the cylindrical geometry is considered and heat transfer characteristics is numerically examined. The temperature distribution and solidification speed are obtained by using the modified variable time step method. And the effects of the major parameters such as mold geometry, thermal conductivity, heat transfer coefficient and initial temperature of casting on the thermal characteristics are investigated.

  • In this paper, we propose structures of a socket that can improve signal transmission characteristics compared to the existing silicone rubber socket. A coaxial rubber socket was proposed to improve signal distortion due to electromagnetic interference between signal lines. And an air gap rubber socket was proposed to improve the degradation of reflection characteristics due to high dielectric constant. Using a 3D electromagnetic field simulator, the S-parameter and crosstalk of the three sockets were compared and the signal transmission characteristics were analyzed. In both coaxial rubber socket and the air gap rubber socket, S-parameter and crosstalk were improved compared to the silicone rubber socket. Among them, the air gap rubber socket was the best for S-parameter, and the coaxial rubber socket was the best for crosstalk.

  • Along with the development of power electronics and magnetic materials, permanent magnet (PM) brushless direct current (BLDC) motors are now widely used in many fields of modern industry BLDC motors have many advantages such as high efficiency, large peak torque, easy control of speed, and reliable working characteristics. However, Compared with the other electric motors without a PM, BLDC motors with a PM have inherent cogging torque. It is often a principle source of vibration, noise and difficulty of control in BLDC motors. Cogging torque which is produced by the interaction of the rotor magnetic flux and angular variation in the stator magnetic reluctance can be reduced by sinusoidal air-gap flux density waveform due to reduction of variation of magnetic reluctance. Therefore, this paper will present a design method of magnetizing system for reduction of cogging torque and low manufacturing cost of BLDC motor with isotropic bonded neodynium-iron-boron (Nd-Fe-B) magnets in ring type by sinusoidal air-gap flux density distribution. An analytical technique of magnetization makes use of two-dimensional finite element method (2-D FEM) and Preisach model that expresses the hysteresis phenomenon of magnetic materials in order for accurate calculation. In addition, For optimum design of magnetizing fixture, Factorial design which is one of the design of experiments (DOE) is used.

  • In this work the dynamics of an electromagnetic levitation system is described by a set of three first order nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The objective is to design a digital linear controller which takes the inherent instability of the uncontrolled system and the disturbing force into consideration. The controller is made by employing digital linear quadratic(LQ) design methodology and the unknown state variables are estimated by the kalman filter. The state estimation is performed using not only an air gap sensor but also both an air gap sensor and a piezoelectric accelerometer. The design scheme resulted in a digital linear controller having good stability and performance robustness in spite of various modelling errors. In case of using both a gap sensor and an accelerometer for the state estimation, the control input was rather stable than that in a system with gap sensor only and the controller dealt with the disturbing force more effectively.

  • In SIL-based NFR servo systems, the residual error and the overshoot that are occurred in the process of the modes-witching servo which consists of approach, gap-control modes, and safety mode are reduced by using PID controller. However, the design method of conventional PID controller is not sufficient for the stable air gap control system. Therefore, the optimal PID controller using LQR manner is more useful to find the designed parameters of PID controller. In this paper, we show that the performance of the optimal PID controller is better than that of the lead-lag controller.

  • Novel 8/10 bearingless switched reluctance motor, which can control rotor radial positions with magnetic force, is proposed. The motor has combined characteristics of switched reluctance motor and magnetic bearing. This paper proposes a air-gap control system method of suspending force control in a bearingless switched reluctance motor (BLSRM). The proposed radial force control scheme is independent to the torque winding current. A PI direct current control (DCC) controller and look-up table are used to maintain a constant rotor air-gap. From the analysis and the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed strategy is effective in realizing a naturally decoupled radial force control of BLSRM.

  • This paper concerns on a non-rotating axis-active magnetic bearing (AMB) system subject to base motion. In such a system, it is desirable to retain the axis within the predetermined air-gap. Motivated from this, an optimal acceleration feedforward control is proposed to reduce the base motion response without deteriorating other feedback control performances. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed feedforward control reduces the air-gap deviation to 29% that by feedback control alone.
