Data Association and Its Applications to Intelligent Systems: A Review (데이터 연관 문제와 지능시스템에서의 응용: 리뷰)

  • Data association plays an important role in intelligent systems. This paper presents the Bayesian formulation of data association and its applications to intelligent systems. We first describe the Bayesian formulation of data association developed for solving multi-target tracking problems in a cluttered environment. Then we review applications of data association in intelligent systems, including surveillance using wireless sensor networks, identity management for air traffic control, camera network localization, and multi-sensor fusion.

  • HLA는 상호 운용성과 재사용성을 목적으로 미국 국방성 산하 기관인 DMSO에서 개발되어진 분산 시스템 프레임워크이다. 이러한 HLA가 민간 부분 적용을 위해 표준이 발표되었고, HLA는 여러 분야의 범용성을 가지기 위해 복잡한 구현 시스템을 가지게 된다. 특히, 객체의 속성변화를 반영하기 위해서는 많은 통신 부하가 발생한다. 이런 단점을 해결하기 위해 제안하였던 객체 관리 모듈을 이용한 항공 교통관제 시뮬레이션을 구현하여 객체 관리 모듈의 성능 및 적용 분야를 평가한다.

  • Ada 언어의 일반화(Generic) 메커니즘은 복잡한 대형 시스템의 설계에 있어 소프트웨어의 재사용성을 높이기 위한 효과적인 방편으로 사용되어 왔다. 일반화 모듈은 기능 또는 알고리즘은 정의되었으나 파라미터의 구체적인 속성이 아직 정해지지 않은 한 개의 소프트웨어 모듈을 다양한 파라미터를 적용하여 여러 곳에서 반복적으로 사용할 수 있도록 한 개념이다. 정형이론 및 구조적 설계기법에 기반한 설계도구인 Stalemate 또한 설계 모듈의 반복적인 재사용을 위해 일반화 차트(Generic Chart)를 제공하고 있다. ATCS(Air Traffic Control System) 설계 모듈에 적용한 결과 두 가지 모두 소프트웨어의 재사용과 설계의 효율성 향상을 위한 도구로 활용할 수 있으며 Statemate의 경우 일반화 차트를 다양한 자료형으로 실례화(Instantiation)할 수 있다면 보다 효과적인 설계모듈의 재사용이 가능할 것이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 SDP 시스템이 충족해야 할 요구 규격을 검증하기 위하여 시험 환경 구축 방안을 제안하였다. SDP 시험 환경은 기능/성능/안정성 시험을 수행할 수 있도록 기존 항공관제시스템의 서브 시스템들과 동일한 기능을 수행하는 Simulation System들과 항적 추적 성능을 검증하기 위한 Eurocontrol의 SASS-C와 SMART 시스템으로 구축하였다. 또한 SDP 시험에 있어 Test Case 및 Test Procedure를 구성하여 SDP 요구 규격에 대한 정확한 검증을 수행할 수 있도록 시험 절차를 정의하였다. 제안된 시험 환경 및 시험 절차는 모의 시험을 통해 소프트웨어 구현 과정에서의 시스템 요구 규격에 대한 충족도를 보다 높일 수 있다.

  • In this paper, this system which constantly control rotation speed of compressor is designed to use in idling state as traffic jam. Also this system is designed to improve reduction of cooling efficiency when sloping and starting a bus. The estimation of designed system in this paper is performed in the laboratory where KS-R-1053 is satisfied. We come to the conclusion that this system is more excellent than the present system in point of cooing ability and response characteristic of controller.

  • Situation awareness is defined as a person's perception of the elements of the environment within a volume of time and space, the comprehension of their meaning and the projection of their status in the near future. Situation awareness is important in attempting to evaluate human behavior in operating complex systems such as aircraft, air traffic control, and nuclear power plant systems. From the literatures this study reviews the relationship between situation awareness and numerous individual, system and environmental factors, and also reviews the methodologies for the empirical measurement of situation awareness applicable to Korea Next Generation Reactor (KNGR) design project. Attention, working memory, workload, stress, system complexity, and automation are presented as critical factors limiting operator's situation awareness. Mental models and goal-directed behavior are hypothesized as important mechanisms overcoming these limits. This study summarized hypothesized guidelines for interface design to improve situation awareness of reactor operators. Some of the guidelines should be tested in the KNGR evaluation experiments in the future.

PASS: A Parallel Speech Understanding System

  • A key issue in spoken language processing has become the integration of speech understanding and natural language processing(NLP). This paper presents a parallel computational model for the integration of speech and NLP. The model adopts a hierarchically-structured knowledge base and memory-based parsing techniques. Processing is carried out by passing multiple markers in parallel through the knowledge base. Speech-specific problems such as insertion, deletion, and substitution have been analyzed and their parallel solutions are provided. The complete system has been implemented on the Semantic Network Array Processor(SNAP) and is operational. Results show an 80% sentence recognition rate for the Air Traffic Control domain. Moreover, a 15-fold speed-up can be obtained over an identical sequential implementation with an increasing speed advantage as the size of the knowledge base grows.

A Study on the Improvement of Airspace Legislation in Korea (우리나라 공역 법제의 개선방안)

  • Recently airspace became a hot issue considering today's international relations. However, there was no data that could be fully explained about a legal system of korean airspace, so I looked at law and practice about korean airspace together. The nation's aviation law sector is comletely separate from those related to civil and military aircraft, at least in legal terms. The Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport shall carry out his/her duties with various authority granted by the "Aviation Safety Act". The nation's aviation-related content is being regulated too much by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's notice or regulation, and there are many things that are not well known about which clauses of the upper law are associated with. The notice should be clearly described only in detail on delegated matters. As for the airspace system, the airspace system is too complex for the public to understand, and there seems to be a gap between law and practice. Therefore, I think it would be good to reestablish a simple and practical airspace system. Airspace and aviation related tasks in the military need to be clearly understood by distinguishing between those entrusted by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and those inherent in the military. Regarding matters entrusted by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transpor, it is necessary to work closely with the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport when preparing related work guidelines, and to clarify who should prepare the guidelines. Regarding airspace control as a military operation, policies or guidelines that are faithful to military doctrine on airspace control are needed.

  • There are various types of foreign object debris (FOD) in the aviation industry. Tools lost by workers can act as a risk factor throughout aircraft operation, manufacturing, and maintenance fields. Accidents caused by tools lost due to workers' carelessness continue to occur throughout the aviation industry. Aviation-related institutions such as FAA and EASA have established tool control regulations and systems to prevent FOD occurrence. However, in Korea, related regulations and procedures are insufficient. A systematic and effective tool control system is required for reliable manufacturing, airworthiness, operation, and maintenance of aircraft. In this paper, tool control regulations and procedures of domestic and foreign air traffic authorities and aviation industry-related organizations were studied. A wireless communication-based tool control system was proposed based on the NAS 412's tool control regulations certified by the National Standards Association.

  • The primary objective of this paper is to introduce the application of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies in flight operations. These include: self-check-in, baggage handling, airport security and surveillance, airport operations monitoring, In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC), cockpit design, and cabin crew support. This paper investigates the application status and development trends of HMI and AR technologies for airports and aircraft. These technologies can provide more efficient in-flight passenger service and experience by using AR devices. This paper also discusses the developments such as; the Integrated Control Application (ICA) for the IFEC interface, AR flight simulation training program using the fixed-based simulator, and the AR aircraft cabin interior concept test program. These applications present how HMI and AR techniques can be utilized in actual flight operations. The developed programs in this paper can be applied to their purpose within aircraft interiors and services to enhance efficiency, comfort, and experience.
