다변량분석법을 활용한 수도권지역의 대기오염측정망 평가 (Evaluation of Air Pollution Monitoring Networks in Seoul Metropolitan Area using Multivariate Analysis)

  • The adequacy of urban air quality monitoring networks in the largest metropolitan city, Seoul was evaluated using multivariate analysis for $SO_2$, $NO_2$, CO, PM10, and $O_3$. Through cluster analysis for 5 air pollutants concentrations, existing monitoring stations are seen to be clustered mostly by geographical locations of the eight zones in Seoul. And the stations included in the same cluster are redundantly monitoring air pollutants exhibiting similar atmospheric behavior, thus it can be seen that they are being operated inefficiently. Because monitoring stations groups representing redudancy were different depending on measurement items and several pollutants are being measured at the same time in each air monitoring station, it is seemed to be not easy to integrate or transmigrate stations. But it may be proposed as follows : the redundant stations can be integrated or transmigrated based on ozone of which measures are increasing in recent years and alternatively the remaining pollutants other than the pollutant exhibiting similar atmospheric behavior with nearby station's can be measured. So it is considered to be able to operate air quality monitoring networks effectively and economically in order to improve air quality.

  • Since air quality monitoring data sets are important base for developing of air quality management strategies including policy making and policy performance assessment, the environmental protection authorities need to organize and operate monitoring network properly. Air quality monitoring network of Busan, consisting of 18 stations, was allocated under unscientific and irrational principles. Thus the current state of air quality monitoring networks was reassessed the effect and appropriateness of monitoring objectives such as population protection and sources surveillance. In the process of the reassessment, a GIS-based decision support system was constructed and used to simulate air quality over complex terrain and to conduct optimization analysis for air quality monitoring network with multi-objective. The maximization of protection capability for population appears to be the most effective and principal objective among various objectives. The relocation of current monitoring stations through optimization analysis of multi-objective appears to be better than the network building for maximization of population protection capability. The decision support system developed in this study on the basis of GIS-based database appear to be useful for the environmental protection authorities to plan and manage air quality monitoring network over complex terrain.

대구지역 대기오염자동측정망 위치의 타당성 분석 (Feasibility Study for the Location of Air Quality Monitoring Network in Daegu Area)

  • Air quality monitoring networks are very important facilities to manage urban air pollution control and to set up an environmental policy. Since air quality monitoring network of Daegu was allocated from 1980s to mid-90s, there is need to reevaluate it and relocated its site. This study was evaluated the position of Daegu air quality monitoring station by unit environmental sensitivity index, grid emission rate, CAI (Comprehensive Air-quality Index) point. The investigation domain covered an area of 16 $\times$ 24 km centered at the metropolitan area of Daegu with grid spacing of 2 km. The location of alternative air quality monitoring networks was selected through optimization and quintiles analysis of total score. The result showed that all things considered, new air quality monitoring network need to install grid numbers 10, 28, 36, 37, 46. We also recommand three scenarios of alternative air quality monitoring network when considering unit environmental sensitivity index, emission rate and CAI point.

  • This paper presents an overview of the UK Hydrocarbon Monitoring Network and summarises some of the lessons learnt from running and automated VOC monitoring network in th UK. The paper will describe the operation of the network and the Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QA/QC) procedures used to ensure that the data qality objectives are met. The provision of accurate measurements of ambient air pollutant concentrations is a valuable and high-profile service of Governments, assisting policy decisions and allowing members of the public to be well-informed. The need for such measurements has been increased in the UK by the National Air Quality Strategy and European Air Quality Directives, with the National Networks playing a central role in delivering the information. The Hydrocarbon Network provides measurements directly in support of monitoring requirements for benzene and 1,3-butadiene, and of 23 other hydrocarbon species important for their role in ozone and secondary particulate formation.

지하철역사의 공기질 감시 및 제어를 위한 유무선 네트워크의 성능평가에 관한 연구 (Performance Evaluation of Wireless and Wired Networks for Monitoring and Control of Indoor Air Quality(IAQ) in Subway Stations)

  • 복잡한 지하철 역사에서 공기질은 승객의 안전과 건강을 좌우하는 중요한 요소이다. $CO_2$, VOCs먼지, 미생물 등의 농도는 역사의 여러 지점에서뿐만 아니라 원격지점에서도 감시 및 제어가 가능해야 하기 때문에 유무선 네트워크를 사용한 웹기반 감시 및 제어가 필요하다. 가상디바이스 네트워크(VDN) 개념에 근거한 원격 무선센서 네트워크와 디바이스 네트워크(LonWorks)를 IP 네트워크에 연동시키면 매우 강력한 분산 감시 및 제어 성능을 제공한다. 본 연구에서는 지하철역사내 공기질 감시 및 제어를 위한 유무선 네트워크의 성능평가를 실시하였다. 특히 유무선 네트워크의 데이터 전송과 지연특성을 평가하고 승객의 안전과 건강을 위한 핵심요소를 확인하였다.

  • Air quality issues in Korea rapidly changed at the beginning of the 1990s from primary to secondary pollutants starting in Seoul, the capital of Korea. The present frame of national air pollution monitoring networks was established between the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s. Background monitoring was initiated in the middle of the 1990s in response to increasing public concern about the long-range transport of air pollutants. Apart from the national monitoring, both routine and intensive measurements of fine particles have been made for research purposes since the middle of the 1990s at several background sites. However, air pollution monitoring in urban areas for other purposes was relatively scarce as national monitoring has been concentrated in these areas. Although ozone pollution has become a significant issue in major metropolitan areas every summer, only a little information on ozone precursors is available. During the past few years, the number of national monitoring stations has greatly increased. The government has a plan to gradually expand monitoring items as well as stations. It is anticipated that highly detailed information on both photochemical reactants and products will be available within the next several years. More emphasis will be placed on toxic substances based on risk assessment in monitoring for both research and policy making.

  • 본 연구에서는 비분산적외선(NDIR) 방식의 CO$_2$센서를 이용하여 무선 센서 네트워크 기반의 지하 공기질 모니터링 시스템을 구현하고 실제 지하철 승강장에 설치한 후 성능평가를 수행하였다. 서울 지하철은 하루 650만 명이 이용하는 대표적인 대중교통 수단이다. 따라서 승객뿐만 아니라 지하철 역사의 지하 공간에서 근무하는 많은 근로자들의 건강에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 지하철 역사의 공기질 모니터링에 대한 요구가 매우 높아졌다. 현재 이런 요구를 충족하기 위해 환경부와 지하철 운영기관 측에서는 지하철역 공기질 모니터링 시스템을 일부 설치 운영 중이다. 그러나 고가의 수입 센서 이용으로 장비의 규모가 크고 설치 및 상시 운영에 따른 유지보수 비용이 큰 한계점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 저비용으로 CO$_2$ 농도를 상대적으로 정밀하게 측정할 수 있는 상용화된 CO$_2$ 센서에 대해 이론적으로 분석하고 신뢰성 검증 테스트를 수행하였다. 또한 무선 공기질 측정 센서 노드 및 게이트웨이 시스템을 개발하여 지하철 승강장의 실시간 공기질 데이터를 주기적으로 수집할 수 있고, 효율적으로 모니터링 할 수 있는 웹서버를 구축하였다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 지하 공간 공기질 관리 시스템의 확산 설치를 위하여 기초 연구 자료로 활용될 것이다.

  • 미세먼지는 실생활과 밀접한 관련이 있으며 특히, 2014년 2월부터 대국민 환경서비스 제공의 일환으로 미세먼지 예보제를 시행중에 있어, 대기오염 측정망을 통한 미세먼지 측정자료의 신뢰성을 확보할 필요성이 대두되었다. 환경부에서는 국가 대기질 파악 및 대기정책수립을 위해 대기오염측정망(11종 506개소)을 운영 중이다. 그러나 현재 측정소 입지 선정 과정과 적합성을 확인 및 점검하는 체계가 미흡하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 GIS를 활용한 도시 공간분석을 통해 대기오염 측정시설의 적절성 및 입지 형평성 등을 평가하고자 한다. 분석 결과를 통해 향후 서울시 대기오염 측정망 설치 계획에 반영 될 수 있도록 측정망의 최적입지를 도출함을 최종 목적으로 한다.

Web Information Systems for Safety and Health Monitoring in Subway Stations

  • In this study, a framework for web-based information system in VDN environment for safety and health monitoring in subway stations is suggested. Since physical variables that describing safety and health need to be closely monitored in multiple locations in subway stations, concept of distributed monitoring network using wireless media needs to be implemented. Connecting remote wireless sensor network and device (LonWorks) networks to the IP network based on the concept of VDN can provide a powerful, integrated and distributed monitoring performance, making a web-based information system possible.
