  • In the early 1990's the clean room system was a new trend of the operating room. This is the concept using in seminconductor plants. That is what the space around the operating table so clean as it remove contaminations with circulation of interior air. These articles describe the standard of interior construction and drawing details.

  • We study that what kind of the concepts of evaporation and condensation students of elementary school have. The results are following. (1) The students have simple concepts of evaporation on natural circumstance. However, they don't understand about various effect on evaporation. (2) They don't know where the evaporized water is comming from. (3) They have experiences on observing condensation of wale. (70%), however don't know that the water is evaporized in the air. (4) They have more understanding about evaporation, more correct concepts on condensation in circulation of water.

  • The pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient were measured at room temperature in CFB heat exchanger with multiple vertical tubes. Also the circulation rate of solid particles was measured. The theoretical model for predicting heat transfer coefficient using the solid flowrate was developed in this study. The model predictions were compared with the measured heat transfer coefficient to show relatively good agreement.

  • The South Korean Ministry of the Environment has revised the laws relating to the management of interior air quality for multiple use facilities, and recommends maintaining carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) concentration in passenger vehicles below 1000 ppm during operation in urban areas of large cities. However, the interior $CO_2$ concentration of passenger vehicles can rapidly increase and exceed 5000 ppm within 30 min, as observed when two passengers are traveling in urban areas of the South Korean city of Jeonju with the air conditioner blower turned off and the actuator mode set to internal circulation mode. With four passengers, $CO_2$ concentration can reach up to 6000 ppm within 10 min. To counter this, when the actuator is set to external mode, $CO_2$ concentration can be maintained below 1000 ppm, even after a long period of running time. As part of the air conditioning system, alkali-treated activated carbon fiber filters are considered to be far superior to the commercial non-woven filters or combination filters currently commonly in use.

  • Flow visualizations and hot-wire measurements on the inside flows of two different incubators are presented in this paper. An anatomically-correct neonate model was fabricated using the rapid prototyping machine, based on the 3-D scanned data. The result showed that air flow in the incubator was affected not only by the air circulation system but also by the design of incubator chamber. Large rotating motions were located around the corners of free space. A number of small eddies were found in regions of high shear flow, in areas such as that between the air inlet and the neonate. But, these small eddies were found to be stationary at that locations. Those small eddies might interfere with convective and evaporative heat transfers from the neonate. This study has led to a better understanding of flow mechanism in an incubator chamber and provided the guidance needed for the advancement of improved computational fluid dynamic models.

  • This study presents the thermal analyses of a spent fuel dry storage cask under normal and off-normal conditions. The environmental temperature is assumed to be 15 $^{\circ}C$ under the normal condition. The off-normal condition has an environmental temperature of 38 $^{\circ}C$. An additional off-normal condition is considered as a partial blockage of the air inlet ducts. Two of the four air inlet ducts are assumed to be completely blocked. The significant thermal design feature of the storage cask is the air flow path used to remove the decay heat from the spent fuel. Natural circulation of the air inside the cask allows the concrete and fuel cladding temperatures to be maintained below the allowable values. The finite volume computational fluid dynamics code FLUENT was used for the thermal analysis. The maximum temperatures of the fuel rod and concrete overpack were lower than the allowable values under the normal and off-normal conditions.
