This study presents the performance test results and the analyses of the vitiated air heater with high temperature and high pressure. In the performance test, four test conditions and three rake measurement conditions were implemented. In the results of the performance test, the vitiated air heater met targets of temperature and flow rate, and the performance with maximum temperature of 2000 K and maximum combustion pressure of 40 bar was confirmed. Flow rate of provided methane increased 36% more than what was calculated, and 19.6% difference was displayed between measured temperature and theoretically calculated temperature.

As observed in the recent war, suppression of enemy air defense operation is one of the major tactics, simultaneously conducted with high payoff target. Specifically, our air defense operation should be properly constructed, since the operating environment of our forces mostly consists with mountainous terrain, which makes detections of the enemy difficult. The effective arrangements of low altitude air defense radars can be suggested as a way of improving the detection capability of our forces. In this paper, we consider the location problem of low altitude air defense radar, and formulate it as an Integer Programming. Specifically, we surveyed the previous researches on facility location problems and applied two particularly relevant models(MCLP, MEXCLP) to our problem. The terrain factor was represented as demand points in the models. We verified the optimal radar locations for operational situations through simulation model which depicts simple battle field. In the simulation model, the performance of optimal radar locations are measured by the enemy detection rate. With a series of experiments, we may conclude that when locating low altitude air defense radars, it is important to consider the detection probability of radar. We expect that this finding may be helpful to make a more effective air defense plan.

In contemporary global warfare, the significance and imperative of air transportation have been steadily growing. The Republic of Korea Air Force currently operates only light and medium-sized military cargo planes, but does not have a heavy one. The current air transportation capability is limited to meet various present and future air transport needs due to lack of performance such as payload, range, cruise speed and altitude. The problem of population cliffs and lack of airplane parking space must also be addressed. These problems can be solved through the introduction of heavy cargo planes. Until now, most studies on the need of heavy cargo plane and increasing air transport capability have focused on the necessity. Some of them suggested specific quantity and model but have not provided scientific evidence. In this study, the appropriate ratio of heavy cargo plane suitable for the Korea's national power was calculated using principal component analysis and cluster analysis. In addition, an optimization model was established to maximize air transport capability considering realistic constraints. Finally we analyze the results of optimization model and compare two alternatives for force structure.
In this paper, we investigate three dimensional optimal evasive maneuver patterns for air-to-surface attack missiles against proportionally navigated anti-air defense missiles. Interception error of the defense missile can be generated by evasive maneuver of the attack missile during the time of flight for which the defense missile intercepts the attack missile. Time varying weighted sum of the inverse of these interception errors forms a performance index to be minimized. Direct parameter optimization technique using CFSQP is adopted to get the attack missile's optimal evasive maneuver patterns according to parameter changes of both the attack missile and the defense missile such as maneuver limit and time constant of autopilot approximated by the 1st order lag system. The overall shape of resultant optimal evasive maneuver to enhance the survivability of air-to-surface missiles against proportionally navigated anti-air missiles is a kind of deformed barrel roll.

The paper focuses on investigating secure transmission in wireless powered communication networks (WPCN) that involve multiple energy-constrained relays and one energy-constrained source. The energy is harvested from a power beacon (PB) while operating in the presence of a passive eavesdropper. The study primarily aims to achieve energy-efficient secure communications by examining the impact of channel estimation on the secrecy performance of WPCN under both perfect and imperfect CSI scenarios. To obtain practical insights on improving security and energy efficiency, we propose closed-form expressions for secrecy outage probability (SOP) under the linear energy harvesting (LEH) model of WPCN. Furthermore, we suggest a search method to optimize the secure energy efficiency (SEE) with limited power from PB. The research emphasizes the significance of channel estimation in maintaining the desired performance levels in WPCN in real-world applications. The theoretical results are validated through simulations to ensure their accuracy and reliability.

Metal ducts for transporting air conditioning and heating inside ships have recently been replaced by cloth ducts that have the advantage of delivering air evenly to the compartments, with excellent noise reduction in major compartments, such as combat command rooms, steering rooms, and sound detector cabins. Since the performance requirements of fabric ducts for vessels are strict, and the entire length of the ducts was imported from Korea, the government wants to create economic effects through localization of fabric ducts. Air permeability and fire prevention performance tests verified the applicability to naval vessels of fabric ducts developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries and HiDact, and performance requirements presented in the POS were verified. As a result of the tests, the fabric ducts met the requirements for air permeability and fireproof performance.
In this paper, a new guidance law for a short-range air-to-air missile with constant thrust is presented. It is essentially based on the concept of proportional navigation. First, the theoretical guidance law is derived. Then, we show the technique for practical implementation of the guidance law. By a computer simulation, it is shown that the new guidance law gives better performance than the conventional proportional navigation.

For the auto-landing operation of an air vehicle, the possibility of auto-landing operation should be first evaluated by testing the navigation performance through a flight test. In general, navigation performance is tested by analyzing north/east/down (NED) errors relative to reference equipment whose precision is about 8~10 times higher than that of a navigation system. However, to evaluate the auto-landing operation of an air vehicle, whether the air vehicle approaches a glide path aligned with the runway, within a specific error, needs to be examined rather than examining the north/east errors of the navigation system. Therefore, the longitudinal/lateral errors of air vehicle heading need to be analyzed. In this study, a method for analyzing the longitudinal/lateral errors of a navigation system was proposed as the navigation performance test method for evaluating the safety during the auto-landing of an air vehicle. Also, flight tests were performed six times, and the safety of auto-landing was examined by analyzing the performance using the proposed method.

Flight test of flapping micro air vehicles (FMAVs) is carried out using an instrumented measurement system to obtain various engineering parameters and hence to assess the flight performance of the vehicles through the data investigation. An indoor flight test facility equipped with a motion capture system and tracking cameras is used for the work presented in this paper. Maneuvers including straight-level flight, ground flapping, takeoff and landing are tested. Spatial position and orientation data are obtained from the retro-reflective tracking markers attached to the vehicles. Subsequent test analysis is carried out by generating performance parameters from raw data and then assessing the flight performance by comparison of the vehicles. The main findings of this work confirm that the test method and procedures presented here enable the systematic numerical data measurement and assessment of the flying performances of these vehicles, and show the applicability for the test and evaluation of general flapping MAVs.

It is crucial to set up early the required performance of surface ship for preventing the risk factors such as an excess of performance, cost and period in development stage. In this study, MOP and MOE are proposed to establish the method for deriving alternatives, MOP represents the defensive effect for anti ship missiles and MOE is the ratio of cost and performance. The 16 engagement scenarios which selectively install RF decoy, RF jammer, CIWS and anti air missile are suggested. The simulation results by using NORAM tool operated by ROK Navy show that the ship survivability is 0.605~0.975 and MOP is 0.301~0.887. The analyzed results represent the operating scenario with RF decoy, RF jammer and short range anti air missile is the best cost and effectiveness measure.
