  • Cronobacter species have been associated with disease outbreaks and sporadic infections, particularly in premature and immunocompromised infants. Cronobacter species can cause foodborne infections such as neonatal meningitis, septicaemia and necrotising enterocolitis. Accordingly, there is an urgent need to control and monitor the Cronobacter species in food, especially in powdered infant formula (PIF) and other baby foods. Therefore, in this review, the isolation and prevalence of Cronobacter species in infant food including PIF and the recent advance of detection methods are discussed for the better understanding on the current research status of Cronobacter species.

  • Salmonella spp. are pathogens involved in most salmonellosis in rabbits. This study examined Salmonella disease in rabbits raised in Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam. Two hundred and 56 rectal swabs of rabbits were taken, and a carrier rate of 33.98% was found. In addition, all the isolated Salmonella spp. strains were 100% motile; positive for H2S, catalase, Voges Proskauer, coagulase, citrate, maltose, and dextrose; and negative for indole, methyl red, urease, oxidase, sucrose, and lactose. The Kirby-Bauer method showed that these Salmonella strains were susceptible to doxycycline (93.2%), tetracycline (84.1%), and levofloxacin (65.9%). On the other hand, they were highly resistant to streptomycin (95.5%), ampicillin (93.2%), colistin (40.9%), and gentamicin (34.1%). Furthermore, polymerase chain reaction used to screen for virulence and specific genes of Salmonella strains showed that all Salmonella strains isolated carried InvA, fimA, and Stn.

  • Hen egg-white lysozyme was conjugated with 7~9 mers xyloglucan hydrolysates(MW-1,400) at 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 79% relative humidity for 3 days. SDS-PAGE showed that the conjugation between lysozyme and the oligosaccharide began from 1-day incubation, and three molecules of carbohydrate chains were attached to a protein molecule after 30day incubation. The enzymatic activity of lysozyme was totally conserved in the neoglycoprotein, when measured by using glycol chitin as substrate. Besides, the emulsifying properties of lysozyme were vastly improved by the conjugation with the oligosaccharide, in which emulsifying activity of the neoglycoprotein was five times higher than that of native one.

  • This paper investigated and validated the mechanisms and principles for constructing reticular structure of plant fiber through frothing solution approach. After process, plant fibers became low-density reticular-structured block with all properties meeting Chinese standards for cushion packing materials. The bonds between fibers acted as knots in a truss and were strong enough to keep space occupied by bubbles in the frothing solution from shrinking in the subsequent draining process. The formation of the reticular structure depends mainly on the pressure difference between inside and outside bubble, the effect of surface adsorbent force on bubble film, and hydrogen bond among fiber hydroxide.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the dimensional stability of bentwoods by three treatments: steaming, urethane varnish coating, and polyethylene glycol (PEG) treatment. Bentwood processing employed a bending-jig with only 4 cm radius of curvature (ROC). The used species were bitter wood (Picrasma quassioides), painted maple (Acer mono), and birch (Betula schmidtiii). The bending properties of these are well-known in bentwood production (Jung et al., 2002). The bentwoods were treated repeated at room temperature [20℃, RH 80% (12 hours) and 40℃ under RH 10% (12 hours)]. To estimate the dimensional stability of bentwoods, we measured the radius of curvature and end-distance. The best results could be attained with PEG treatment. Steaming was the worst treatment. Comparing the properties of the different species, the dimensional stability of bitter wood was excellent. It was concluded that the steaming treatment was unsuitable for dimensional stability of bentwoods.

  • The coniferous fallen leaf is one of the major forestry residues. Since the coniferous fallen leaf would not be easily decayed, the large amount of the coniferous fallen leaves in forestry could be the source of forest fire. The applicability of the fallen leaves to the pulp mold were evaluated for developing new utilization of coniferous fallen leaves. The morphological properties and the chemical composition of the fallen leaves of Pinus densiflora and Pinus koraiensis were evaluated by the comparison with those of fresh leaves. The applicability of the coniferous fallen leaves to the pulp mold and the effects on the pulp mold properties including the scent diffusion were investigated. The fallen leaves showed the shrunk structure by losing the hot water extract component, which leaded to better grinding properties than that of fresh leaves. The pulp mold with fallen leaves showed higher strength properties than the pulp mold with fresh leaves. Although the scent of the pulp mold with fresh leaves was stronger, the pulp mold with fallen leaves had coniferous scent too. The application of fallen leaves to pulp mold for the functional properties could be possible by improving the mechanical properties and the scent lasting treatments.

  • Big Data is coming rapidly in recent times and keep the vast amount of data was utilized them. These data are utilized in many fields in particular, based on the patient data in the medical field to increase the therapeutic effect, as well as re-incidence to better treatment, lowering the readmission rates increased the quality of life. In this paper it is practiced to report basis of the analysis and verification of data using python. And it can be analyzed the data through a simple formula, from Select reason of Python to how it used; by Press analysis of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries research. In this process, a simple formula can be used that expression for analyzing the actual data so it taking advantage of the use of functions in real life.

  • This study proposed the introduction of the block grant in agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors so that the local governments get greater autonomy in agricultural policy. First of all, theoretical background on block grant was reviewed and present situation in Korea regarding block grant was examined. Four criteria were set to evaluate the eligibility for the block grant. Four criteria imply that block grant is more appropriate with small-scaled similar projects, high locality projects, easily evaluated projects, and easily formula-applied projects. Applying these criteria to the projects subsidized by the national government, appropriate projects as the block grant were selected. Finally, specific operation scheme of the block grant was proposed.

  • The maternal weigh-suckle-weigh (WSW) method for estimating milk production of sows was further evaluated by comparing this to the traditional WSW method. Twenty one estimates of hourly milk production were obtained by both methods. Total hourly milk production between the two methods was not significantly different (292.4 vs 303.3 g/h, p > 0.05). Hourly milk production determined by the maternal WSW method was highly correlated with hourly milk production estimates using the traditional WSW method ($R_2$ = 0.94, p < 0.001). When corrections for metabolic and salivary losses were made, the milk production figures for the maternal WSW method were approximately 27% less than those estimated by the traditional WSW method.
