In order to set up structural improvement strategy against meteorological disasters of the shading structures in ginseng fields, structural safety analyses as well as some case studies of structural damage patterns were carried out. According to the results of structural safety analysis, allowable safe snow depth for type B(wood frame with single span) was 25.9 cm, and those for type A(wood frame with multi span) and type C and D (steel frame with multi span) were 17.6 cm, 25.8 cm, and 20.0 cm respectively. So types of shading structures should be selected according to the regional design snow depth. An experiential example study on meteorological disasters indicated that a strong wind damage was experienced once every 20 years, and a heavy snow damage once every 9.5 years. The most serious disasters were caused by heavy snow and it was found that a half break and complete collapse of structures were experienced by about 70% of snow damage. In addition to maintenance, repair and reinforcement, it is also recommended that improved model of shading structures for ginseng cultivation should be developed as a long term countermeasures against meteorological disasters.

Eco-friendly material and implementation methods have become important along with the existing standardized maintenance concept for the irrigation and flood control. However, the intrinsic function of the hydraulic structure is water supply and disaster prevention. Therefore, the material and work methods should be considered both eco-friendliness, durability and safety which are prerequisite elements to maintain the engineering function. In this study eco-friendly material and work methods would be classified into the vegetation based system, eco-friendly concrete system and stone-material system according to the characteristics of material. The quality standard for durability followed KS specification and related regulations. The quality standard for safety and eco-friendliness was set after literature review, and the database was developed using the standard. The structure applicable to onsite - the eco-friendly material and work method were classified based on the function and material of the hydraulic structure. Finally, database has been established for convenient management and selection of the proper material and work method. The eco-friendly material and work method could be searched easily for the convenience of the users, and the web-based data system has been developed for continuous registration of the material and work methods to be developed in the future.

An investigation was conducted to get the basic data for establishing maintenance strategy of pipe framed greenhouses. The contents of the investigation consisted of actual state of structures, maintenance status, meteorological disaster, and corrosion characteristics of pipe framework in greenhouses. the number of greenhouses investigated was 108 in total. Most multi-span greenhouses had narrower width and lower height than the standared 1-2W greenhouse, and most of single-span greenhouses were tunnel type. In multi-span greenhouses, the size and interval of frameworks such as rafter, purline, column , and cross beam were mostly suitable, but frameworks of single-span greenhouses were mostly insufficient. After about 7 years in grounds, 8 years in joints, 10 years in bending parts. and 13 years in columns. pipe surface was mostly rusted. Most weak parts in corrosion were pipes in contact with the ground, joints, roll-up shaft pipes, and pipes close to the gutter. Almost all of the greenhouse farmers didn't pay any attention to maintenance affair in a regular interval for pipe framed grenhouses. Many greenhouses have experienced the meteorologicla diaster such as uplift of foundation, partial or complete failure by the hyphoon and/or high winds.

In the current domestic, many industrial accidents have happened. And these are analyzed according to several factors. But it is difficult that they evaluate their business safety. Thus, we conducted a study on business specific safety assessment techniques in order that business know their safety level and perform appropriative safety activities. Study methods are survey and AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). Each specific weighting factors to calculate the survey was conducted for safety and consulting experts (20 persons). Weight factor was used to AHP decision support as one of the ways through a number of alternatives to the ratings for the Minesota Multiphasic. Factors are each type of industry, specific industrial scale, disaster type and strength, worker age and tenure period, and region. First, survey was conducted with 20 professionals to estimate the weighting factors. Weights between factors using the AHP analysis tool based on the mean values were calculated. Second, last 3 years between the industrial accidents statistics were used to calculate the weights for each of the rating factors in the Occupational Safety and Health Agency. Grade weights between each factor which was based on the rating of each factor was calculated as the average of three years. Finally, the weights between each factor and the grade weights for each factor using the safety level of the enterprise were calculated so that you can evaluate the weighting.

This research was performed to study the actual behavior of 1-2W type pipe greenhouse under the influence of typhoon by measuring the various strains in structural materials. These results can eventually be utilized in the design criteria as well as in the modification of conventional equation for calculating more realistic wind loads. The first data under the influence of Typhoon Olga arrived in Jinju on Aug. 1999 were obtained by strain gage with 10 sensor points. According to the data obtained, the typical variation of strain depending on wind pattern could be observed. The strains in structural frame were fluctuated very sensitively depending on the direction and magnitude of wind velocity. But some of the data were lost or missed by system's failure. A kind of inherent vibration pattern of greenhouse pipe frame was observed from the plotted data, but this phenomenon is not so clear as to be separated from the overall fluctuation so far. This experimental research is expected to be continued as a long term project to measure and analyze the strain pattern of structural frame depending on the various locations and section characteristics by way of adopting more efficient instrument with sufficient number of measuring points and accuracy.

This study attempted to improve the accuracy of streamflow and baseflow prediction of Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) by applying baselfow recession constants for each sub-watershed. This study set two different scenarios (S1 and S2) to evaluate the impact of application of baseflow recession constants for each sub-watershed on streamflow prediction. In S1, Only the baseflow recession constant obtained from the streamflow station located in the final outlet of study area was applied for whole sub-watersheds. In S2, baseflow recession constants obtained from six different streamflow stations were applied for each sub-watershed. Then, baseflow was separated form the measured streamflow data and the predicted streamflow of S1 and S2 using Web-based Hydrograph Analysis Tool (WHAT). The results showed Nash-Sutcliff efficiency (NSE) and $R^2$ of S2 were a little higher than these of S1 in both streamflow and baseflow prediction results. However, it is important that S2 reflected physical meaning of baseflow recess. Also, recession part of hydrograph in S2 was calibrated better than that of S1 compared to the measured hydrograph.

Recent studies show the possibility of more frequent extreme events as a result of the changing climate. These weather extremes, such as excessive rainfall, result to debris flow, river overflow and urban flooding, which post a substantial threat to the community. Therefore, an effective flood model is a crucial tool in flood disaster mitigation. In recent years, a number of flood models has been established; however, the major challenge in developing effective and accurate inundation models is the inconvenience of running multiple models for separate conditions. Among the solutions in recent researches is the development of the combined 1D-2D flood modeling. The coupled 1D-2D river flood modeling allows channel flows to be represented in 1D and the overbank flow to be modeled over two-dimension. To test the efficiency of this approach, this research aims to assess the capability of HEC-RAS model's implementation of the combined 1D-2D hydraulic simulation of river overflow inundation, and compare with the results of GERIS and FLUMENS 2D flood model. Results show similar output to the flood models that had used different methods. This proves the applicability of the HEC-RAS 1D-2D coupling method as a powerful tool in simulating accurate inundation for flood events.

This study was conducted to improve the stability of cut slopes of forest roads in granitic weathered soil areas. The study area is a national forest road (road length 28.48 km) in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do. After data collection, a statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS (Ver. 26.0). First, the correlation analysis showed that structure, slope position, soil erosion, slope, and aspect (N, S) were correlated with vegetation coverage (p < 0.05). Elapsed years, slope distance, and aspect (E, W) were found to have no correlation with vegetation coverage. (p > 0.05) Second, one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test results showed that vegetation coverage was worse when the slope was located at the top or the middle of the slope than at the bottom of the slope. In addition, the site with sheathing and gabions showed good vegetation coverage when compared with the site without structures. In the case of soil erosion, areas with severe damage and moderate damage showed worse vegetation coverage. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the slope angle of the cut soil of the granitic weathered soil area from 1 : 0.5 - 1.2 to 1 : 0.8 - 1.5. In addition, structures such as sheathing and gabions should be installed on granitic weathered land.

It is necessary to normalize spectral image values derived from multi-temporal satellite data to a common scale in order to apply remote sensing methods for change detection, disaster mapping, crop monitoring and etc. There are two main approaches: absolute radiometric normalization and relative radiometric normalization. This study focuses on the multi-temporal satellite image processing by the use of relative radiometric normalization. Three scenes of KOMPSAT-2 imagery were processed using the Multivariate Alteration Detection(MAD) method, which has a particular advantage of selecting PIFs(Pseudo Invariant Features) automatically by canonical correlation analysis. The scenes were then applied to detect disaster areas over Sendai, Japan, which was hit by a tsunami on 11 March 2011. The case study showed that the automatic extraction of changed areas after the tsunami using relatively normalized satellite data via the MAD method was done within a high accuracy level. In addition, the relative normalization of multi-temporal satellite imagery produced better results to rapidly map disaster-affected areas with an increased confidence level.

Among various ecosystem services provided by the basin, this study deals with water yield (WY) estimation in the Bagmati basin of Nepal. Maps of where water used for different facilities like water supply, irrigation, hydropower etc. are generated helps planning and management of facilities. These maps also help to avoid unintended impacts on provision and production of services. Several studies have focused on the provision of ecosystem services (ES) on the basin. Most of the studies have are primarily focused on carbon storage and drinking water supply. Meanwhile, none of the studies has specifically highlighted water yield distribution on sub-basin scale and as per land use types in the Bagmati basin of Nepal. Thus, this study was originated with an aim to compute the total WY of the basin along with computation on a sub-basin scale and to study the WY capacity of different landuse types of the basin. For the study, InVEST water yield model, a popular model for ecosystem service assessment based on Budyko hydrological method is used along with ArcGIS. The result shows water yield per hectare is highest on sub-basin 5 ($15216.32m^3/ha$) and lowest on sub-basin 6 ($10847.15m^3/ha$). Likewise, built-up landuse has highest WY capacity followed by grassland and agricultural area. The sub-basin wise and LULC specific WY estimations are expected to provide scenarios for development of interrelated services on local scales. Also, these estimations are expected to promote sustainable land use policies and interrelated water management services.
