Distribution Characteristics of a Mini -Sprinkler without a Bridge (Non-bridge 형 미니스프링쿨러의 살수 특성)

  • A study was conducted to find distribution patterns of minisprinkler without a bridge for the desing of microirrigation systems. The experiments were executed in a plastic house to minimize the effect of the wind. Data were collected at four different operation pressures and at 3 different riser heights. Sprayed water were collected by aluminium cans with 65mm diameter and 100mm height placed at 0.3m grid spacing . A schematic distribution pattern with distance from a minisprinkler was suggested for the layout design of the minisprinkler. Distribution pattern of the minisprinkler was found irregular in space. Distributin performance characteristics of the minisprinkler such as effective radius. , effective area, mean application depth, absolute maximum application depth, effective maximum application depth and coefficient of variation were determined. It was indicated that there is a trend of decrease in variation coefficient adn better water distribution by the increase in operation pressures and riser heights.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the air flow characteristics of the rock bed storage for solar-heated greenhouse design. Heat storage material was gravels and experiments were performed under constant inside temperature condition. The experimental parameters were operation method and air flow rate of fan. It was resulted that the temperature and amount of heat stored in rock-bed increased as the increase of air flow velocity and were more influenced by operation of inlet fan than outlet fan.

Water Resources Utilization Pattern of JangSung Reservoir (장성호 수자원 이용 패턴)

  • The Water resources utilization pattern of Jangsung reservoir was studied. The observed precipitation and existing reservoir operation data such as irrigation amount, reservoir storage, river maintenance requirement, flood control discharge were collected for ten years period and analyzed. Major findings of this study are as follows: The observed average, minimum, maximum annual precipitation were 905.1mm, 1,977.3mm, 1,554.3mm during study period, respectively. The average annual irrigation amount was 554.5mm, irrigation amount of drought years of '92 and '94 was 604.6mm, 679.2mm, respectively. However, irrigation amount of extended drought year '95 was 384.9mm. It showed that supplying capacity of Jangsung reservoir was limited when consecutive 2 year drought occurred. The main water resources usage of Jangsung reservoir was irrigation, but flood control discharge exceed irrigation amount exceptionally when high precipitation occurred. The reservoir operation record revealed that discharge for river maintenance was delivered even drought years.

  • Devices of diversion gate used at irrigation canal, as a irrigation structures of agriculture, have shown serious problems such as corrosion, defect, inconvenience of operation, etc. Accordingly, handy devices of diversion gate have been developed and then tested in the laboratory. The operating types of the prototype were a rack-and-pinion type, an improved screw type that only gate plate was moved up and down while the screw axis was unmoved, and a remote control type which can be controlled from 50m away using a remote control system. Those 3 types were developed, and the improved screw type was shown the best operation through the laboratory tests.

  • The net income per unit area from crop production could be the most critical consideration for agricultural producers during cultivation planning. This paper proposes a scheme for predicting the net income per unit area based on machine learning and related calculations. This scheme predicts rice production and operation costs by applying climate and price index data. The rice price is also predicted by applying rice production and operation cost data. Finally, these predicted results are employed to calculate the predicted net income, which is compared with the actual net income. Consequently, the proposed scheme shows a meaningful degree of conformity, which indicates the potential of machine learning for predicting various aspects of agricultural production.

  • The purpose of this study was to make a survey of the operation of childcare facilities in rural regions through in-depth interviews with 5 facility principals. Owing to regional disadvantages, rural childcare facilities have many problems as follows: uneven distribution of facilities, shortage of teachers, financial difficulties, unsuitable programs for rural regions, insufficient reeducation of principals and teachers, and poor operations and accessibility for handicapped or very young children. The principals proposed that many conditions might be made better as follows: evenly distributing facilities in step with needs and supply, raising the salary of teachers of rural facilities, supporting the facilities themselves side by side with supporting children, improving 'childcare fee supporting system' of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, developing and spreading programs suitable for rural regions, and promoting the reeducation of principals and teachers through online programs.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of residents' perceptions of tourism impact and conflicts on residents' participation in rural tourism village. Method of analysis involves factor analysis and regression analysis in this study. In order to measure the level of perception, three factors(economic benefits, social benefits, social and environmental cost) are derived from the factor analysis. And also in order to measure the level of conflict, two factor(openness of information, leading of operation) are derive from the factor analysis. The result of regression analysis indicate that perceived economic benefits and social benefits are rather greater impacts on residents' participation than social and environmental cost, and also openness of information is rather greater impacts on residents' participation than leading of operation.

  • A flood - flow forecasting system model of river basins has been developed in this study. The system model consists of the data management system(the observation and telemetering system, the rainfall forecasting and data-bank system), the flood runoff simulation system, the reservoir operation simulation system, the flood forecasting simulation system, the flood warning system and the user's menu system. The Multivariate Rainfall Forecasting model, Meteorological factor regression model and Zone expected rainfall model for rainfall forecasting and the Streamflow synthesis and reservoir regulation(SSARR) model for flood runoff simulation have been adopted for the development of a new system model for flood - flow forecasting. These models are calibrated to determine the optimal parameters on the basis of observed rainfall, 7 streamfiow and other hydrological data during the past flood periods.

  • The wintering honey bee chambers were constructed and inside environment factors were analyzed to provide high technology for efficient wintering of honeybee colonies. As a result of this study, inside air temperature of yongin chamber under the wide range of outside temperature condition was found to be appropriated for wintering of bee, and inside temperature of beehive was about 2$^{\circ}C$ higher than the air temperature in the chamber. The fan operation schedule did not control the high temperature down properly in the chamber, It was necessary to find a new fan operation schedule to be able to provide the optimum temperature for wintering honey bee colonies. inside humidity variation of Yongin chamber was very much depended on outside humidity.

MOWING PERFORMANCE OF BUSH CUTTER EQUPPED WITH A FIXED BLADE DEVEOPED TO PREVENT BODILY INJURIES IN OPERATION

  • In order to prevent bodily injuries frequently suffered in using bush cutters, especially from spattered stones, we developed a unique new cutting system equipped with a fixed blade on top of the rotary blade, and checked into the mowing performance of the cutter. From experimental test of mowing efficiency and measuring test of physical stress (O$_2$ consumption and heartbeat rates) , the new cutting system with a fixed blade proved that it keeps good cutting performance with lower peripheral speed of the rotary blade(22m/sec), compared to that of ordinary cutting blade, yielding more safety in operation. Weight of the cutter head is, however, heavier than that of ordinary machine by about 70% which increased a physical stress on the operator with slightly faster heartbeat rates. In mowing along edge of concrete wall, the operator enjoyed using the cutter with no anxiety , owing to function of the fixed blade.
