  • This study was conducted to elucidate the impact of invasive species, Micropterus salmoides and Lepomis macrochirus in Geumgyeji, Samgaji and Naejangji reservoirs of National Parks, Korea in 2020. In the Geumgyeji, 1,221 individuals of 11 species in 7 families were collected including M. salmoides (relative abundance, 96.3%) and L. macrochirus (0.3%), M. salmoides fed mainly on Rhinogobius brunneus (IRI, 37.2%), Odonata (25.6%), Megaloptera (11.6%), and M. salmoides (7.0%). In the results of Samgaji showed that 854 individuals of 10 species in 5 families were collected including M. salmoides (60.8%), and M. salmoides fed mainly on Decapoda (shrimp, 33.6%), Odonata (34.4%), R. brunneus (21.2%), and Zacco platypus (6.1%). In the Naejangji showed that 1,075 individuals of 13 species belonging to 7 families were collected including L. macrochirus (38.1%) and M. salmoides (9.5%), and L. macrochirus fed mainly on Branchiopoda (77.5%), Diptera (9.8%), Decapoda (4.0%) and M. salmoides fed mainly on R. brunneus (73.3%), Decapoda (21.2%). M. salmoides of Geumgyeji and Samgaji were apparently introduced more than a 10 years ago. The fish population declined rapidly since the introduction of M. salmoides. L. macrochirus of Naejangji was introduced more than 20 years ago, which increased its relative abundance to 40%. M. salmoides was introduced five to six years ago, and the fish species and population declined rapidly since the introduction of M. salmoides. Finally, we discussed the inhabitat status and management of M. salmoides and L. macrochirus in the National Park.

  • Even though advocates of TQM emphasize the role of TQM more than before, the interest of general public have decreased in recent years. A few months ago, the Fortune introduced a survey result showing that management tools (including TQM) are to some extent fashion items, becoming chic or declasse with the march of the management zeitgeist. According to the article, TQM has cooled off and other approaches have risen to take the place. Is TQM a really dying fad? This paper discusses the problem.

  • A framework for reliability analysis of structural components and systems under conditions of statistical and model uncertainty is presented. The Bayesian parameter estimation method is used to derive the posterior distribution of model parameters reflecting epistemic uncertainties. Point, predictive and bound estimates of reliability accounting for parameter uncertainties are derived. The bounds estimates explicitly reflect the effect of epistemic uncertainties on the reliability measure. These developments are enhance-ments of second-moment uncertainty analysis methods developed by A. H-S. Ang and others three decades ago.

  • Athough planetary nebulae (PNe) have been discovered for over 200 years, it was not until 30 years ago that we arrived at a basic understanding of their origin and evolution. Even today, with observations covering the entire electromagnetic spectrum from radio to X-ray, there are still many unanswered questions on their structure and morphology. In this review, we summarize recent theoretical and observational advances in PNe research, and discuss the roles of PNe in the chemical (atomic, molecular, and solid-state) enrichment of the galaxy and as tracers of the large scale structure of the Universe.

  • The ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) cluster was located in the nucleolus organizer and was genetically determined as one locus. We speculated by using sequence differences in the functional rDNA unit that the segregation time between Chinese and Japanese types of B. mandarina is about three million years ago. The differences of the amount of inserted non-LTR retrotransposons, R1Bm and R2Bm, in rDHA cluster were used for the identification of B.mori strains. (omitted)

  • Quarter a century ago, I founded the Colorado Mathematical Olympiad. The Colorado Mathematical Olympiad is the largest essay-type in-person mathematical competition in the United States, with 600 to 1,000 participants competing annually for prizes. In this article, I explain what it is, how it works, give examples of problems and solutions, and share with the reader careers of some of the Olympiad's winners.

  • Diaphragmatic eventration is a rare condition in primary diaphragmatic diseases and is found rarely in clinical experience. Diaphragmatic eventration means abnormally high position of diaphragm, which is caused acquired, paralytic or congenital, nonparalytic etiologic origins. This report is presented a symptomatic diaphragmatic eventration of 50 years old woman, who had complained coughing and left chest pain since I year ago prior to admission in Kosin Medical College, Gospel Hospital. A patient who had established accurate diagnosis at pre-operative period. There had been post-operative course uneventfully.

  • Daedeok Valley, located in the Daejon Metropolitan City, Korea, has around 1,000 start-ups. There is no comprehensive study for the valley except Seol et al.(2002), because the valley is a new one. There was no such valley four years ago, in 1998. This paper defines the spatial boundary, origins and characteristics of the valley. The core area of the valley is Daedeok Science Town. This valley is an outcome of so called the Venture Policy of DJ government and business restructuring after foreign exchange crisis of November, 1997.

  • Lymphangioleiomyomatosis(LAM) is defined as an abnormal proliferation of smooth muscles in the lung tissue throughout lymphatics, vascular and bronchial structure. A 52-year-old postmenopausal woman was admitted to our hospital for recurrent pneumothorax. She was treated for medroxyprogesterone by LAM 1 month ago. We performed operation of pulmonary partial resection and pleurodesis. The patient is receiving continuous medroxyprogesterone and Leuplin administration, and currently, 6 months after the operation, is still showing good results.
