Effect of Current-Aging on Field Emission from Carbon Nanotube Field Emitter Arrays

  • We studied the effect of current-aging on field emission from carbon nanotubes field emitter arrays (CNT-FEAs) selectively patterned by the resist-assistan tpatterning(RAP) process. After sustaining the electric field when starting emission current density $(J_s)$ is $0.1\;mA/cm^2$ during 40 hrs, it was observed that the field emission property and uniformity were remarkably improved due to the elimination of oxygen atom and thus the reconstruction of carbon bonding at the tip of CNTs during field emission.

  • In this paper, fatigue testing was carried out under the change of aging time(0.5,1.5.10hrs) by electric heating method which is one of the useful method in the application of Robot's actuator. Fatigue degradation behaviors such as cyclic deformation property, amount of deformation, decrease in recovery and variation of transformation temperature for each specimen were examined closely, and the effect of aging time condition was studied on their fatigue degradation behaviors.

  • A ZnO varistor with reference voltage 250V/mm was fabricated through the control of particle size in slurry and the variation of sintering conditions. It was found that to measure the flatness of the V-I characteristic curve in the small-current region and the flatness of the V-I characteristic curve in a large-current region was improved nonlinearity of the fabricated ZnO varistor. According to the IEC 60099-4 was measured the accelerated aging test and high current test of the distribution class surge varistor which is excellent in respect to the property of ZnO varistor.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the thermal embrittlement and the mechanical properties of 2.25Cr-1Mo steel aged at high temperature for the extended periods. Original, aged artificiall y and used material were tested to obtain the tensile strength, hardness and impact absorbed energy. Tensile strength, hardness and impact absorbed energy decreased with the increasing aging time. The carbide morphology with the thermal embrittlement was found to contribute to the mechanical property change by X-Ray diffraction method.

  • One of the factors influences on microstructure of semi-solid product is forging pressure. Generally, the more forging pressure makes the more fine microstructure in semi-solid compression test. The microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated according to the forging pressure. The applied pressure is 110MPa, 140MPa and 170MPa, respectively. Heat treatment conditions also influence to the microstructure and mechanical properties of semi-solid product. T6 heat treatment was performed and the evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated according to the aging time in T6 heat treatment.

  • This paper reports the aging driver traffic accident severity modeling results. For the modeling, Poisson regression approach is applied using the data set obtained from the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's simulator-based driver aptitude test results. The test items include the estimations of moving objects' speed and stopping distance, drivers' multi-task capability, and kinetic depth perception and so on. The resulting model with the response variable of equivalent property damage only(EPDO) indicated that EPDO is significantly influenced by moving objects' speed estimation and drivers' multi-task capabilities. More interestingly, a comparison with the younger driver model revealed that the degradation of such capabilities may result in severer crashes for older drivers as suggested by the higher estimated parameters for the older driver model.

  • The age hardening behavior and mechanical properties of an extruded Al-Zn-Mg-(Cu)-0.1 wt.%Sc alloy were investigated with the Sc addition and ageing temperature. The results showed that the $Al_3Sc$ compounds were formed by Sc addition and distributed preferentially along the extrusion direction. The age hardening of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-0.1 wt.%Sc alloy which was treated by T6 process was more significant than that of Al-Zn-Mg-0.1 wt.%Sc alloy. The tensile property of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu+0.1 wt.%Sc alloy was also higher than that of Al-Zn-Mg-0.1 wt.%Sc alloy, which is 691 MPa and 584 MPa in strength and 9% and 11% in elongation, respectively.

  • In this paper, some characterization results of the NBUCA class of life distributions are obtained. Behavior of the life distributions of the present class is developed in terms of the monotonicity of the residual life of k-out of-n systems given that the (n-k)th failure has occurred at time $t{\geq}0$. Similar conclusions based on the residual life of parallel system are also presented. Next, we focus upon the aging process of a system with independent but not necessarily identical NBUCA components. Finally, it is proved that if the lifetimes of a series systems with a random number of identical components have the NBUCA property then its units also have the same property.

  • Recently polymeric insulators and arresters are being used for outdoor high voltage applications. Polymeric insulators for transmission line have significant advantages over porcelain and glass insulators, especially for ultra-high voltage(UHV) transmission lines. Their advantages are light weight, vandalism resistance and hydrophobicity. Polymeric insulator kind are a relatively new technology, but their expected life is still unknown. In this paper, the material property for polymeric insulating material such as silicone rubber and EPBM is investigated by cross-link time and the relation between tracking resistance and W resistance is analyzed by IEC 60587 and W aging experiment.

  • Statement of problem. Soft lining materials, also referred to as tissue conditioning materials, tissue heating materials, relining materials, soft liners or tissue conditioners, were first introduced to dentistry by a plastic manufacturer in 1959. Since the introduction of the materials to the dental field, their material properties have been continually improved through the effort of many researchers. Soft lining materials have become widely accepted, particularly by prosthodontists, because of their numerous clinical advantages and ease of manipulation. Unfortunately, few reports have been issued upon the topic of increasing the bond strength between the base metal alloy used in cast denture bases and PMMA soft liner modified with 4-META, nor upon the pattern of debonding and material change in wet environment like a intra oral situation. Purpose. The purposes of this study were comparing the bond strength between base metal alloy used for the cast denture bases and PMMA soft liner modified with 4-META, and describing the pattern of debonding and material property change in wet environment like the intraoral situation. Material and Methods. This study consisted of four experiments: 1. The in vitro measurement of shear bond strength of the adhesive soft liner. 2. The in vitro measurement of shear bond strength of the adhesive soft liner after 2 weeks of aging. 3. A comparison of debonding patterns. 4. An evaluation the Relation time of modified soft liner. The soft liner used in this study was commercially available as Coe-soft (GC America.IL.,USA), which is provided in forms of powder and liquid. This is a PMMA soft liner commonly used in dental clinics. The metal primer used in this study was 4-META containing primer packed in Meta fast denture base resin (Sun Medical Co., Osaka, Japan). The specimens were formed in a single lap joint desist which is useful for evaluating the apparent shear bond strength of adhesively bonded metal plate by tensile loading. Using the $20{\times}20mm$ transparent grid, percent area of adhesive soft liner remaining on the shear area was calculated to classify the debonding patterns. To evaluate the change of the initial flow of the modified adhesive soft liner, the gelation time was measured with an oscillating rheometer (Haake RS150W/ TC50, Haake Co., Germany). It was a stress control and parallel plate type with the diameter of 35mm. Conclusion. Within the conditions and limitations of this study, the following conclusions were drawn as follows. 1. There was significant increase of bond strength in the 5% 4-META, 10% 4-META containing groups and in the primer coated groups versus the control group(P<0.05). 2. After 2 weeks of aging, no significant increase in bond strength was found except for the group containing 10% 4-META (P<0.05). 3. The gelation times of the modified soft liner were 9.3 minutes for the 5% 4-META containing liner and 11.5 minutes for the 10% 4-META liner. 4. The debonding patterns of the 4-META containing group after 2 weeks of aging were similar to those of immediaely after preparation, but the debonding pattern of the primer group showed more adhesive failure after 2 weeks of aging.
