  • Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) not only targets the respiratory system but also triggers a cytokine storm and a series of complications, such as gastrointestinal problems, acute kidney injury, and myocardial ischemia. The use of natural products has been utilized to ease the symptoms of COVID-19, and in some cases, to strengthen the immune system against COVID-19. Natural products are readily available and have been regularly consumed for various health benefits. COVID-19 has been reported to be associated with the risk of thromboembolism and deep vein thrombosis. These thrombotic complications often affects mortality and morbidity. Panax ginseng, which has been widely consumed for its various health benefits has also been reported for its therapeutic effects against cardiovascular disease, thrombosis and platelet aggregation. In this review, we propose that P. ginseng can be consumed as a supplementation against the various associated complications of COVID-19, especially against thrombosis. We utilized the network pharmacology approach to validate the potential therapeutic properties of P. ginseng against COVID-19 mediated thrombosis, the coagulation pathway and platelet aggregation. Additionally, we aimed to investigate the roles of P. ginseng against COVID-19 with the involvement of platelet-leukocyte aggregates in relation to immunity-related responses in COVID-19.

  • In order to determine the effects of bedrock, organic matter, calcium and iron oxide on the soil aggregation, this research has performed with soils from bedrock regions of Limestone, Granite and Granite gneiss. This research was also to estimate how organic matter, calcium and iron oxide influence on soil aggregation under different forest conditions in various bedrock regions. And it also had a purpose to rate physical factors relevant to soil aggregation, their characteristics and aggregate diameter which closely relates to stabilities in the process of soil erosion. The following conclusions have been drawn in response to the overall research objectives. The rates of the soil aggregation on different bedrock regions were 21% in Limestone bedrock, 19.8% in Granite bedrock and 9.9% in Granite gneiss bedrock. A main factor in soil aggregation was the orgainc matter content in soils and the rate of soil aggregation increased in the constant proportion with the organic matter content. The relation could be formulated into Y=4.31X-4.37(Y : aggregation ratio X : organic matter content). The soil aggregation ratio under the deciduous forests eras higher than that under the coniferous forests. It was considered that this resulted from differences in organic matter content. Soil aggregates with larger diameter than 0.5mm were found more in Limestone bedrock than other smaller size soil aggregates of 0.25mm diameter were more distributed in Granite gneiss bedrock. Granite bedrock region had normal distribution in soil aggregate sizes with the highest frequency of 0.5mm diameter. Calcium and iron oxides had only partial influences on the soil aggregation in some specific conditions. But in Limestone bedrock region calcium influenced on the soil aggregation with the organic matter content.

  • This paper presents new algorithms equivalencing large-scale power systems. Generators are identified to the coherent groups according to the relation factors, which represent the relative coupling degree between the generators. While the groups are identified, participation numbers, which are the measure of the relative participation of the generators in the group, are obtained. All generators and controllers in the group are weighted by participation numbers and aggregated to construct a dynamic equivalent. The proposed algorithms are applied to a 272-machine Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)'s system. The enclosed results indicate the accuracy and usefulness of the algorithms.

  • In this paper, the conceptual model for bibliographic Information consistent and compatible with MARC is presented. The modeling requirements are derived from MARC-related models such as MARC21, MARCXML and MODES. To meet these requirements, this paper proposes the conceptual model based on MARC formalism. The model composed with aggregation relationships among bibliographic data elements can use semantic tags of XML. As the model can be realized into diverse structures, it will be effectively applied for the development of bibliographic information management systems. Since MARC defines only record format and has the limitations in semantic representation, the metadata system that can expand bibliographic data elements in MRAC into metadata level is strongly required.

  • Effect of spermine on the susceptibility of calf thymus nucleohistone to DNase 1, in relation to the structural change of the nucleohistone, and cooperativity of the interaction of the nucleohistone with DNase 1 was investigated. Dansylated nucleohistone, in which the histone moiety had been derivatized by dansylation, was also used to investigate functional roles of the histone moiety on the cooperativity. The data here indicate the possibility that the nucleohistone, in contrast with the DNA, may not undergo monomolecular condensation, whereas intermolecular aggregation and enhancement of the positive cooperativity of the interaction of nucleohistone with DNase 1 may be brought about by spermine. The interaction of the DNS-nucleohistone with DNase 1 showed negative cooperativity. Based on the data here, it can be speculated that the cooperativity of the nucleohistone is influenced by the histone moiety of the nucleohistone.

  • The seasonal occurrence trends of the brown-winged green bug, Plautia stali, and the brown malmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, were monitored in sweet persimmon orchards in southern region of Korea using light traps (in 2000 and 2001), and aggregation pheromone traps (methyl (E, E, Z)-2 ,4, 6-decatrienoate)) of P. stali (in 2001). Light trap data showed that H. halys started to occur from the end of June, and reached its peak in early or mid August, while P. stali was mostly attracted to the traps from mid July to late August without any distinct attraction peak. Both species did not occur after September in the persimmon orchards studied. The attraction patterns of both species to aggregation pheromone traps were different from those observed in light traps. Both species were attracted to the pheromone traps from mid May to late August. The peak occurrence of H. halys could not be detected due to low catches. However, the period of peak attraction for P. stali was from late June to late August depending on the geographical locations. The aggregation pheromone traps of P. stali attracted more number of P stali than H. hails, but the light traps showed a reverse pattern. In both species, more females were attracted to the aggregation pheromone traps than males. The difference of attraction patterns between 2 types of traps was discussed in relation to content of soluble tannin in persimmon fruits.

  • Underwater CCTV camera systems are increasingly replaced the traditional net approach of assessing the species, numbers and aggregation patterns of marine animals distributing around the artificial reefs installed in the inshore fishing grounds, in particular, in relation to the biological investigation of behavior and distribution patterns of target fishes. In relation to these needs, we developed a multi-directional underwater CCTV camera system to use in detecting and tracking marine animals in the artificial reef ground. The marine targets to be investigated were independently tracked by using a camera module toward the bottom and four camera modules installed in the interval of $90^{\circ}$ in horizontal plane and inclination of $45^{\circ}$ in vertical plane of the CCTV system without the overlap of video frames by each camera module. From the results of several field tests at sea, we believe that the developed multi-directional underwater CCTV camera system will contribute to a better understanding in evaluating the effect of artificial reefs installed in the inshore fishing grounds.

  • This paper proposes a Distributed Autonomous Robotic System (DARS) based on an Artificial Immune Network (AIN) and a Classifier System (CS). The behaviors of robots in the system are divided into global behaviors and local behaviors. The global behaviors are actions to search tasks in environment. These actions are composed of two types: aggregation and dispersion. AIN decides one between these two actions, which robot should select and act on in the global. The local behaviors are actions to execute searched tasks. The robots learn the cooperative actions in these behaviors by the CS in the local. The relation between global and local increases the performance of system. Also, the proposed system is more adaptive than the existing system at the viewpoint that the robots learn and adapt the changing of tasks.

  • In this paper, we propose an induced linguistic ordered weighted harmonic mean(ILOWHM) operator. The ILOWHM operator is more general type of aggregation operator, which is based on the LHM and LOWHM operators. Based on the LOWHM and ILOWHM operator, we develop an approach to group decision making with linguistic preference relations. Finally, an application of the approach to group decision making problem with linguistic preference relations is pointed out.

  • This paper reviews the literature on safety culture focusing particularly on research carried out from 1998 onwards. The term 'safety culture' is clarified as it is typically applied to organizations, to safety and particularly to construction safety. Some clarifications in terms of levels of aggregation, positive safety culture and safety performance are provided by presenting appropriate empirical evidences and their theoretical developments. Safety culture is a subset of organizational culture that is thought to influence employees' attitudes and behavior in relation to an organization's ongoing health and safety performance. Implications for future research in the area are addressed, as safety culture has in recent years become the focus of much attention in all industries, and in the construction industry in particular.
