  • It is expected that the proportion of crushed aggregate will increase in order to fill the decreasing supply of sea sand in the southeast area. However, it is necessary to supply the least amount of sea sand to diversify the aggregate source, in order to minimize the mixing ratio of sea sand and crushed sand to minimize the structural stability of the concrete.

  • The ideal gradating curve is used in this study to estimate densified aggregate blended ratio and total surface area of aggregate, there by under assigned paste amount of concrete, and coating paste thickness can then be deduced. Four groups of concrete mixtures were prepared and the corresponding concrete properties, such as workability, compression strength, ultrasonic velocity, surface resistivity and chloride ion penetration, were measured and finally the results are interpreted in terms of "coating thickness". The result shows as the coating thickness of the concrete is higher than critical one, the coating thickness on aggregate does affect the workability, and whatever workability is required the superplasticizer can be adjusted to achieve the demand workability. Under a fixed paste quality at the same age, coating paste thickness is inversely proportional to the concrete properties, especially as the coating thickness gets thinner.

  • This paper discusses the problem of coordinating aggregate planning and production schedules, minimizing the combined set-up inventory and capacity costs. In this study, by using the relation of fixed production quantity and the number of set-up we develop a heuristirc procedure of solving the discrete demand, fixed production quantity, variable capacity problem. First, we obtain the trade-off between set-up cost and capacity cost, then search the point minimizing the combined inventory and capacity costs.

  • This paper presents an advanced energy saving algorithm in building. It is important to aggregate a various demand side resource which is surely controllable at the peak power time to reduce the energy cost. Previous demand side algorithm appropriate for building is based on peak power. In this paper, we develop the new energy saving algorithm to reduce the quantity of power consumption. The simulation results show that the proposed tem is very effective.

Impact of Population Growth on Labor Force and Employment in Korea; Transition and Prospect (장기인구성장과 노동력 수급 전망)

  • Three stages of population growth during last forty years affected differently to the labor force and employment in Korea. The first impact of rapid population growth on the labor force occured after the end of World War II. Sudden growth of population due to repartriation and refugees directly increased the labor force. Deteriorating labor market conditions were caused not only by the explosive labor supply but also by the shortage of employment opportunities due to a lack of productive facilities. This severe excess supply of labor continued until the early 196Os. Population growth in the second stage which caused by high fertility during the post Korean War baby boom period induced an eventual increase in the labor supply with time lag of more than fifteen years. Younger persons born during baby boom period were flooded the labor market. Fortunately, job opportunities were expanded more rapidly than the labor force supply because high rates of economic growth and speedy industrialization were continued until the later half of 1970s. Unemployment, therefore, decreased dramatically during this period. The effect of third stage which is characterized as mitigated population growth due to birth control has appeared in the labor market since late 1970s. The growth rate of labor force has been going down and the proportion of younger workers was also been decreasing. From the early 1980s, furthermore, partial disharmony between supply of and demand for the younger workers is closing up. Less educated younger workers who works at low wage are lacking while more educated youngers who want to work at high wage are being excess, because a lot of younger prefer higher education rather than productive job. It is expected that the structural inharmony will be diversified in the future in Korea. The labor force will be changed to middleaged, highly educated and womenized till year 2000, and, after then, to old-aged. On the demand side, industries and jobs will transferred to be labor-saving and soft. These structural changes of labor supply and demand will not matching in time. Aggregate supply of labor force will be steadily increasing more rapidly than aggregate demand for labor until year 2000, and this trend will continue to the first one or two decades of the 2lth century because the persons born dufing the baby boom pariod are being eligible couples in recent. Therefore, conclusion is that appropriate manpower development policy as well as sustained birth control policy is necessary for harmonizing the structural unbalance and the disequilibrium between aggregate labor supply and demand in the future.

Impacts of the Real Effective Exchange Rate and the Government Deficit on Aggregate Output in Australia

  • Based on a simultaneous-equation model consisting of aggregate demand and short-run aggregate supply, this paper estimates a reduced-form equation specifying that the equilibrium real GDP is a function of the real effective exchange rate, the government deficit as a percent of GDP, the real interest rate, foreign income, labor productivity, the real oil price, the expected inflation rate, and the interactive and intercept binary variables accounting for a potential change in the slope of the real effective exchange rate and shift in the intercept. Applying the exponential GARCH technique, it finds that aggregate output in Australia has a positive relationship with the real effective exchange rate during 2003.Q3 - 2013.Q2, the government deficit as a percent of GDP, U.S. real GDP, labor productivity and the real oil price and a negative relationship with the real effective exchange rate during 2013.Q3 - 2016.Q1, the real lending rate and the expected inflation rate. These results suggest that real appreciation was expansionary before 2013.Q3 whereas real depreciation was expansionary after 2013.Q2 and that more government deficit as a percent of GDP would be helpful to stimulate the economy. Hence, the impact of real appreciation or real depreciation on real GDP may change overtime.

  • Aggregate planning coordinate the control variable over long-term to apply a demand variable and forcasting. In order to necessary the goal that doesn't make an inter-contradiction and explicitly defined. We made a considerable point of system approach for scheduling establishment. It include the control variables of aggregate planning : 1) employment 2) over time working and idle time 3) inventory 4) delivery delay S) subcontract 61 long - term facility capacity. Each variables composed of pure strategy as like a decision of inventory level, a change of employment level, etc. md alternative costs make a computation on the economic foundation. But the optimum alternative costs represent the mixed pure strategy. The faults of this method doesn't optimum guarantee a special scheduling as well as increasing a number of alternative combination. Theoretical, Linear Decision Rule make an including all variables, but it is almost impossible for this model to develope actually And also make use of the aggregate planning problem for developing system approach : LDR, heuristic model, Search Decision Rule, all kind of computers, simulation. But these models are very complex, each variables get an extremely inter-dependence. So this study be remained by theory level, some approach methods has not been brought the optimum solution to apply in every cases.

Is Currency Appreciation or Depreciation Expansionary in Thailand?

  • Many developing countries have attempted to depreciate their currencies in order to make their products cheaper, stimulate exports, shift aggregate demand to the right, and increase aggregate output. However, currency depreciation tends to increase import prices, raise domestic inflation, reduce capital inflows, and shift aggregate supply to the left. The net impact is unclear. The paper incorporates the monetary policy function in the model, which is determined by the inflation gap, the output gap, the real effective exchange rate, and the world real interest rate. Applying an extended IS-MP-AS model (Romer, 2000), the paper finds that real depreciation raised real GDP during 1997.Q1-2005.Q3 whereas real appreciation increased real GDP during 2005.Q4-2017.Q2. In addition, a higher government debt-to-GDP ratio, a lower U.S. real federal funds rate, a higher real stock price, a lower real oil price or a lower expected inflation rate would help increase real GDP. Hence, real depreciation or real appreciation may increase or reduce aggregate output, depending upon the level of economic development. Although expansionary fiscal policy is effective in stimulating the economy, caution needs to be exercised as there may be a debt threshold beyond which a further increase in the debt-to-GDO ratio would hurt economic growth.
