In order to mitigate the damage caused by accidents in nuclear power plants (NPPs), evacuation strategies are usually managed on the basis of off-site effects such as the diffusion of radioactive materials and evacuee traffic simulations. However, the interactive behavior between evacuees and the accident environment has a significant effect on the consequential gap. Agent-based modeling (ABM) is a method that can control and observe such interactions by establishing agents (i.e., the evacuees) and patches (i.e., the accident environments). In this paper, a radiological emergency evacuation model is constructed to realistically check the effectiveness of an evacuation strategy using NetLogo, an ABM toolbox. Geographic layers such as radiation sources, roads, buildings, and shelters were downloaded from an official geographic information system (GIS) of Korea, and were modified into respective patches. The dispersion model adopted from the puff equation was also modified to fit the patches on the geographic layer. The evacuees were defined as vehicle agents and a traffic model was implemented by combining the shortest path search (determined by an A * algorithm) and a traffic flow model incorporated in the Nagel-Schreckenberg cellular automata model. To evaluate the radiological harm to the evacuees due to the spread of radioactive materials, a simple exposure model was established to calculate the overlap fraction between the agents and the dispersion patches. This paper aims to demonstrate that the potential of ABM can handle disaster evacuation strategies more realistically than previous approaches.

Epidemiological models on disease spread attempt to simulate disease transmission and associated control processes and such models contribute to greater understanding of disease spatial diffusion through of individual's contacts. The objective of this study is to develop an agent-based modeling(ABM) approach that integrates geographic information systems(GIS) to simulate the spread of FMD in spatial environment. This model considered three elements: population, time and space, and assumed that the disease would be transmitted between farms via vehicle along the roads. The model is implemented using FMD outbreak data in Andong city of South Korea in 2010 as a case study. In the model, FMD is described with the mathematical model of transmission probability, the distance of the two individuals, latent period, and other parameters. The results show that the GIS-agent based model designed for this study can be easily customized to study the spread dynamics of FMD by adjusting the disease parameters. In addition, the proposed model is used to measure the effectiveness of different control strategies to intervene the FMD spread.
As the proliferation of Internet, mobile agent related technologies are examined for possible growth and evolution. In information retrieval, network and distributed system management, and electronic commerce, mobile agent is more flexible than the traditional communication paradigm. Despite the performance benefits, mobile agent is not used widely in the market because it is very vulnerable to a variety of attacks. In many studies related the security vulnerability for a mobile agent, the high security causes the performance to degrade. In this paper, we propose and evaluate the efficient security model for mobile agent using TDGM(Trusted Domain & Guide Manager), which provides three kinds of services : the trusted domain management, the security service and the travel plan guide. The result clearly shows that this model provides high security and minimizes the performance degradation.
A study on the effect of the biodegradability of the composting bulking agent in the swine manurecomposting was carried out in a batch system. The purpose of this study is to prove the effect of the biodegradability of the composting-bulking agent on the efficiency of the composting. In this study, it is the lignins: Klason-Lignin in the volatile solid that the index of the biodegradability of the composting-material mixes which are pig manure-rice straw pig manure-sawdusts pig manuremixture of rice and ricestraw (2:1) pig manure-mixture of rice and sawdust (1:1). It was carried out in the same condition (moisture contents, air supply rate, C/N ratio, initial input weight, porosity-structure) except the biodegradability of the raw material mixes. One of the results from this study is that the biodegradability of the bulking agent in the sense of the VS lignin content is not an insignificant factor in composting reaction. The less contents of the lignin in VS, the more efficiencies of the cornposting reaction in use of these parameters for the degree of the reaction: temperature, the trends of the ash contents, the change pattern of the C/N ratio. Under some assumptions, it is able to induce rough model on the relation of the VS lignin contents with the efficiency of the degradability. In this model, the biodegradability of the bulking agent is not an insignificant factor however, it is flexible within some degrees of range.

The sales activity of most of small manufacturing companies is based on orders of buyers. The process of promotion, receipt and selection of orders of the manufacturers is closely coupled with the load status of the production lines. The decision on whether to accept an order or not, or the selection of optimal order set among excessive orders is entirely dependent on the schedule of production lines. However, in the real world, since the production scheduling activity is mainly performed by human experts, most of small manufacturers are suffer from being unable to meet due dates, lack of rapid decision on the acceptance of new order. To cope with this problem, this paper deals with the development of an agent for selecting an optimal order set automatically. The main engine of selection agent is based on the typical job-shop scheduling model since our target domain is the injection molding company. To solve the problem, we have formulated it as IP (Integer Program) model, and it has been successfully implemented by ILOG and selection agent. And we have suggested an architecture of an agent for tackling web based order selection problems.

Due to recent growing interest in autonomous software agents and their potential application in areas such as electronic commerce, the autonomous negotiation become more important. Evidence from both theoretical analysis and observations of human interactions suggests that if decision makers have prior information on opponents and furthermore learn the behaviors of other agents from interaction, the overall payoff would increase. We propose a new methodology for a strategy finding process using data mining in autonomous negotiation system ; ANSIA (Autonomous Negotiation System using Intelligent Agent). ANSIA is a strategy based negotiation system. The framework of ANSIA is composed of following component layers : 1) search agent layer, 2) data mining agent layer and 3) negotiation agent layer. In the data mining agent layer, that plays a key role as a system engine, extracts strategy from the historic negotiation is extracted by competitive learning in neural network. In negotiation agent layer, we propose the autonomous negotiation process model that enables to estimate the strategy of opponent and achieve interactive settlement of negotiation. ANISIA is motivated by providing a computational framework for negotiation and by defining a strategy finding model with an autonomous negotiation process.

The mobile agent is receiving the attention as new technique to retrieve and to share the distributed contents on web-based educational systems. The retrieval using mobile agent uses the method that delivers the agent to accomplish a search in direct server in substitute for it is transmitted a many contents to accomplish an efficient search. This study proposed the model of retrieval system that shares and searches the distributed educational contents of the bulletin board and newsgroup by using the mobile agent. In order to evaluate the efficiencies of the system that is proposed, we did the comparison test on the search model of existing and proposing system. By a test result, we confirmed network traffics of proposed system are diminished. Moreover we gave proof the fact that the optimum search time of the mobile agent-based system is shortened.
Multi-agent system fits to the distributed and open internet environments. In a multi-agent system, agents must cooperate with each other through a coordination procedure, when the conflicts between agents arise. Where those are caused by the point that each action acts for a purpose separately without coordination. But previous researches for coordination methods in multi-agent system have a deficiency that they cannot solve correctly the cooperation problem between agents, which have different goals in dynamic environment. In this paper, we suggest the automatic coordination model for multi-agent system using neural network and reinforcement learning in dynamic environment. We have competitive experiment between multi-agents that have complexity environment and diverse activity. And we analysis and evaluate effect of activity of multi-agents. The results show that the proposed method is proper.

Due to the increasing complexity to handle conflicts and interruptions caused by resource failures and rush orders, shop control is obliged to redesign its organization according to the changing demands of the manufacturing control. These demands are leading to the development of decentralization and gradually to their permanent optimization. As a result, a powerful modeling method which can be adapted efficiently is required. The use of agent theory enables specific modeling of the relevant shop planning activities. The planning activities are modeled in a so-called activity modeling through the definition of three classes of agents; Plan Agent, Manufacturing System Agent and Control Agent as well as the description of the cooperative relationship among these agents. On the basis of the activity model the agent-based shop control method is developed which emphasizes the distributed problem-solving and the cooperation with relevant agents.

Recently, according to the rapid development of internet and communication technologies, a lot of works based on network techniques have been developed. In relation to this trend, the agent systems that had been studied in the early AI have been being studied greatly in association with the network techniques. This paper present a design model of a secretary agent system in which each secretary agent can manage the schedules of her/his superior, and the descriptions about the implementation of the secretary agent system. In the presented secretary agent system, a database system and a knowledge-based systems are included and cooperated with each secretary agent to provide the ability of manipulating lots of schedule data and making decisions on them. This paper also shows that the presented secretary agent system can behavior like a real secretary through the various superior-secretary-meeting-requester interactions, which is different from the roup scheduling programs or personal scheduling programs.
