In this paper, We design and implement a humanoid robot, With Educational purpose, which can collaborate and communicate with human. We present an affective human-robot communication system for a humanoid robot, D2, which we designed to communicate with a human through dialogue. D2 communicates with humans by understanding and expressing emotion using facial expressions, voice, gestures and posture. Interaction between a human and a robot is made possible through our affective communication framework. The framework enables a robot to catch the emotional status of the user and to respond appropriately. As a result, the robot can engage in a natural dialogue with a human. According to the aim to be interacted with a human for voice, gestures and posture, the developed Educational humanoid robot consists of upper body, two arms, wheeled mobile platform and control hardware including vision and speech capability and various control boards such as motion control boards, signal processing board proceeding several types of sensors. Using the Educational humanoid robot D2, we have presented the successful demonstrations which consist of manipulation task with two arms, tracking objects using the vision system, and communication with human by the emotional interface, the synthesized speeches, and the recognition of speech commands.
In human and robot interaction, the role of emotion becomes more important Therefore, robots need the emotion expression mechanism similar to human. In this paper, we suggest a new emotion expression system based on the psychological studies and it consists of five affective elements, i.e., the emotion, the mood, the personality, the tendency, and the machine rhythm. Each element has somewhat peculiar influence on the emotion expression pattern change according to their characteristics. As a result, although robots were exposed to the same external stimuli, each robot can show a different emotion expression pattern. The proposed system may contribute to make a rather natural and human-friendly human-robot interaction and to promote more intimate relationships between people and robots.

In the near future, robots will be used for the personal use. To provide useful services to humans, it will be necessary for robots to understand human intentions. Consequently, the development of emotional interfaces for robots is an important expansion of human-robot interactions. We designed and developed an intelligent emotional interface for the robot, and applied the interfaces to our humanoid robot, AMIET. Subsequent human-robot interaction demonstrated that our intelligent emotional interface is very intuitive and friendly
Non-verbal communication is important in human interaction. It provides a layer of information that complements the message being transmitted. This type of information is not limited to human speakers. In human-robot communication, increasing the animacy of the robotic agent-by using non-verbal cues-can aid the expression of abstract concepts such as emotions. Considering the physical limitations of artificial agents, robots can use light and movement to express equivalent emotional feedback. This study analyzes the effects of LED and motion animation of a spherical robot on the emotion being expressed by the robot. A within-subjects experiment was conducted at the University of Tsukuba where participants were asked to rate 28 video samples of a robot interacting with a person. The robot displayed different motions with and without light animations. The results indicated that adding LED animations changes the emotional impression of the robot for valence, arousal, and dominance dimensions. Furthermore, people associated various situations according to the robot's behavior. These stimuli can be used to modulate the intensity of the emotion being expressed and enhance the interaction experience. This paper facilitates the possibility of designing more affective robots in the future, using simple feedback.
In recent years, a large number of robots have been developed in several countries, and these robots have been built for the purpose to appeal to users by well designed human-robot interaction. In case of the robots developed so far, they show proper reactions only when there is a certain input. On the other hands, they cannot perform in a standby mode which means there is no input. In other words, if a robot does not make any motion in standby mode, users may feel that the robot is being turned-off or even out of work. Especially, the social service robots maintain the standby status after finishing a certain task. In this period of time, if the robots can make human-like behavioral patterns such like a person in help desk, then they are expected to make people feels that they are alive and is more likely to interact with them. It is said that even if there is no interaction with others or the environment, people normally reacts to internal or external stimuli which are created by themselves such as moving their eyes or bodies. In order to create robotic behavioral patterns for standby mode, we analyze the actual facial expression and behavior from people who are in neutral affective emotion based on ethnographic methodology and apply extracted characteristics to our robots. Moreover, by using the robots which can show those series of expression and action, our research needs to find that people can feel like they are alive.
This article explores the effects of the RBI(Robot Based Instruction) for promotion of students' interaction in elementary school. It was found that Cognitive Affective Metacognitive interaction is evenly spread in RBI. It was particularly high the ratio of metacognitive interaction. According to the analysis result of learner's activity by the detailing, it was observed that robot media promoted students' interaction. Also, metacognitive interaction about clarification and elaboration was promoted lively in the RBI situation. Therefore, RBI was helpful to promote of students' interaction in elementary school.

In this paper, we analyzed the units related to robot education in the Practical Arts textbooks according to the 2015 revised curriculum. As a result, all textbooks had a common system of introduction, development, and organization, and all of them showed a similar flow. Learning objectives were presented in all textbooks, but no affective goals were presented except cognitive and functional goals. The contents of robot learning suggest the meaning and type of robots, the structure and sensors of robots, and the activities of making robots, but the contents of robot ethics, the production and activities of various robot works, and the use of robots in the problem solving process are not presented. The assembly robot and the infrared sensor are used in common, and it consists of presenting robot production and control training materials in experience activities and arranging units through evaluation, and the A, C, and F textbooks also provide the unit auxiliary data. In the future, it will be necessary to include the contents of robot ethics education centered on the design/manufacturer and user-oriented robot ethics such as the recognition of the limits of robots, the principles of using robots correctly, safety education, personal information and privacy protection.

This paper proposes an intuitive real-time robot control system using human body movement. Recently, it has been developed that motion generation for humanoid robots with reflecting human body movement, which is measured by a motion capture. However, in the existing studies about robot control system by human body movement, the detailed structure information of a robot, for example, degrees of freedom, the range of motion and forms, must be examined in order to calculate inverse kinematics. In this study, we have proposed Associative Motion Generation as humanoid robot motion generation method which does not need the detailed structure information. The associative motion generation system is composed of two neural networks: nonlinear principal component analysis and Jordan recurrent neural network, and the associative motion is generated with the following three steps. First, the system learns the correspondence relationship between an indication and a motion using training data. Second, associative values are extracted for associating a new motion from an unfamiliar indication using nonlinear principal component analysis. Last, the robot generates a new motion through calculation by Jordan recurrent neural network using the associative values. In this paper, we propose a real-time humanoid robot control system based on Associative Motion Generation, that enables user to control motion intuitively by human body movement. Through the task processing and subjective evaluation experiments, we confirmed the effective usability and affective evaluations of the proposed system.
