To improve the understanding of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation from the photo-oxidation of anthropogenic and biogenic precursors at the regional background station on Baengnyeong Island, Korea, gas phase and aerosol chemistries were investigated using the Proton Transfer Reaction Time of Flight Mass Spectrometer (PTR-ToF-MS) and the Aerodyne High Resolution Time of Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS), respectively. HR-ToF-AMS measured fine particles ($PM_1$; diameter of particle matter less than $1{\mu}m$) at a 6-minute time resolution from February to November 2012, while PTR-ToF-MS was deployed during an intensive period from September 21 to 29, 2012. The one-minute time-resolution and high mass resolution (up to $4000m{\Delta}m^{-1}$) data from the PTR-ToF-MS provided the basis for calculations of the concentrations of anthropogenic and biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) including oxygenated VOCs (OVOCs). The dominant BVOCs from the site are isoprene (0.23 ppb), dimethyl sulphide (DMS, 0.20 ppb), and monoterpenes (0.38 ppb). Toluene (0.45 ppb) and benzene (0.32 ppb) accounted for the majority of anthropogenic VOCs (AVOCs). OVOCs including acetone (3.98 ppb), acetaldehyde (2.67 ppb), acetic acid (1.68 ppb), and formic acid (2.24 ppb) were measured. The OVOCs comprise approximately 75% of total measured VOCs, suggesting the occurrence of strong oxidation processes and/or long-range transported at the site. A strong photochemical aging and oxidation of the atmospheric pollutants were also observed in aerosol measured by HR-ToF-AMS, whereby a high $f_{44}:f_{43}$ value is shown for organic aerosols (OAs); however, relatively low $f_{44}:f_{43}$ values were observed when high concentrations of BVOCs and AVOCs were available, providing evidence of the formation of SOA from VOC precursors at the site. Overall, the results of this study revealed several different SOA formation mechanisms, and new particle formation and particle growth events were identified using the powerful tools scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS), PTR-ToF-MS, and HR-ToF-AMS.

Y123 films have been deposited on $LaAlO_3$ (100) single-crystal and IBAD substrates by spray pyrolysis method using nitrate precursors. Ultrasonic atomization was adopted to decrease the droplet size, spraying angle and its moving velocity toward substrate for introducing the preheating tube furnace in appropriate location. A small preheating tube furnace was installed between spraying nozzle and substrate for fast drying and enhanced decomposition of precursors. C-axis oriented films were obtained on both LAO and IBAD substrates at deposition temperature of around $710{\sim}750^{\circ}C$ and working pressures of 10~15 torr. Thick c-axis epitaxial film with the thickness of $0.3{\sim}0.6\;{\mu}m$ was obtained on LAO single-crystal by 10 min deposition. But the XRD results of the film deposited on IBAD template at same deposition condition showed that the buffer layers of the IBAD metal substrate was affected by long residence of metal substrate at high temperature for YBCO deposition.
The phosphors of high luminous efficiency for PDP application must have high purity, single phase, and dense surface. In this work, the polymeric reaction was applied to preparation of spherical phosphor by aerosol pyrolysis in order to enhance mechanical and optical characteristics. The red phosphor of (Y,Gd)$BO_3$:Eu was prepared from polymeric precursor, in which citric acid and ethylene glycol were used as ion carriers, i.e monomers. For enhancing the luminescence intensity and mechanical characteristics. optimum synthesizing condition were investigated through concentration of monomers, synthetic temperature. doped activator concentrations, and annealing process. The phosphors synthesized with monomers showed quite different morphology from those without monomers. It was observed that polymeric precursor made an effect on particle formation mechanism and status of particles surface. The resultant spherical phosphors show the comparable luminescent properties to the commercial product (product by Nichia co.). Also, they were observed to have the rigid surface.

The high-$T_c$ superconducting phase, $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$, was deposited on the single crystal MgO substrate, using a liquid aerosol feed method in a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD) reactor. The effect of the plasma distribution depending on the design of a reactor was studied by the analysis of the microstructures of thin films. The particles landed were frequently observed on the films and the two causes that were responsible for the particle deposition were explained. The particles were deposited by the unstable and non-uniform plasma and the low evaporation rate of the precursors. Also, the thin film deposition rate decreased significantly as the distance between the evaporating location and the substrate increased.

The superconducting phase, $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{x}$ (YBCO), was in-situ deposited on the single crystal MgO substrates, using an aerosol decomposition process in a cold plasma reactor. The solubility and decomposition temperature of the chemical precursors, and the vapor pressures of the solvents, were determined to be the factors crucial to achieving a stoichiometric, crystalline YBCO phase. The deposition parameters for the YBCO phase were 0.3 to 2.7 kPa for the oxygen partial pressure and $800^{\circ}C$ to $940^{\circ}C$ for the substrate temperature. The optimum deposition conditions for the YBCO phase were observed along the CuO decomposition line.

Transition metals such as V, Fe, and Ni were used to synthesize doped zinc oxide nanoparticles from mixed liquid precursors by using the flame spray pyrolysis (FSP). The effects of dopants on the powder properties such as morphology, specific surface area, crystal structure, and light adsorption were analyzed by TEM, BET, XRD, and UV-Vis diffuse reflection spectrum (DRS), respectively. The results showed that hexagonal wurtzite structured ZnO:M (M = V, Fe, Ni) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the FSP. The transition metal-doping resulted in the decrease in its particle size and crystallite size. The UV-vis absorption spectra of ZnO:M nanoparticles were also red-shifted. ZnO:V showed the highest MB degradation of 99.4% under the UV irradiation after 3 hrs.

To improve understanding of the physico-chemical characteristics of aerosols in the national park and comparing the air pollution between national park and the urban area nearby national park, the aerosol characterization study was conducted in Bukhansan National Park, Seoul, from July through September 2017. Semi-continuous measurements of $PM_{2.5}$ using PILS (Particle Into Liquid System) coupled with IC (Ion Chromatography) and TOC (Total Organic Carbon) analyzer allowed quantification of concentrations of major ionic species($Cl^-$, $SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NO_3{^-}$, $Na^+$, $NH_4{^+}$, $K^+$, $Mg{^{2+}}$ and $Ca{^{2+}}$) and water soluble organic carbon (WSOC) with 30-minute time resolution. The total mass concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ was measured by T640 (Teledyne) with 5-minute time resolution. The black carbon (BC) and ozone were measured with a minute time resolution. The timeline of aerosol chemical compositions reveals a strong influence from urban area (Seoul) at the site in Bukhansan National Park. Inorganic aerosol composition was observed to be dominated by ammoniated sulfate at most times with ranging from $0.1{\sim}32.6{\mu}g/m^3$ (6.5~76.1% of total mass of $PM_{2.5}$). The concentration of ammonium nitrate, a potential indicator of the presence of local source, ranged from below detection limits to $20{\mu}g/m^3$ and was observed to be highest during times of maximum local urban (Seoul) impact. The total mass of $PM_{2.5}$ in Bukhansan National Park was observed to be 10~23% lower than the total mass of $PM_{2.5}$ in urban area (Gireum-dong and Bulgwang-dong, Seoul). In general, ozone concentration in Bukhansan National Park was observed to be similar or higher than urban sites in Seoul, suggesting additional biogenic VOCs with $NO_x$ from vehicle emission were to be precursors for ozone formation in Bukhansan National Park.

The vertical exchange of trace gases and aerosols in upper regions of the atmosphere is primarily controlled by the atmospheric conditions. The study of the vertical and temporal variation of the upward transport of $H_2O$ and the downward transport of $O_3$, NO$_2$, CO and other long-lived trace species will enable a better understanding of these transport mechanisms. (omitted)
High $J_c$ over 1 $MA/cm^2$ YBCO film has been successfully prepared using nitrate precursors by spray pyrolysis method. Aerosol drolpets generated using a concentric spray nozzle were directly sprayed on a $LaAlO_3$(100) single crystal substrate. The cation ratio of precursor solution was Y:Ba:Cu=1:2.65:1.35. The distance between nozzle and substrate was 15 cm. Deposition temperature was ranging from $750^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$. Deposition pressure was 100 Torr, and oxygen partial pressure was varied from 10 Torr to 50 Torr. The microstructure, phase formation, texture development and superconducting properties of deposited films were largely changed with oxygen partial pressure. Deposited films showed a texture with(001) planes parallel to substrate plane. High quality film was obtained when film was deposited at $760^{\circ}C$ with an oxygen partial pressure of 30 Torr. The critical current density($J_c$) of the YBCO film was 1.75 $MA/cm^2$ at 77 K and self-field.
The current paper reports on the enhancement of O$_3$, CO, NO$_2$, and aerosols during the Asian dust event that occurred over Korea on 1 May 1999. To confirm the origin and net flux of the O$_3$, CO, NO$_2$, and aerosols, the meteorological parameters of the weather conditions were investigated using Mesoscale Meteorological Model 5(MM5) and the TOMS total ozone and aerosol index, the back trajectory was identified using the Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory Model(HYSPLIT), and the ozone and ozone precursor concentrations were determined using the Urban Ashed Model(UAM). In the presence of sufficiently large concentrations of NO$\sub$x/, the oxidation of CO led to O$_3$ formation with OH, HO$_2$, NO, and NO$_2$ acting as catalysts. The sudden enhancement of O$_3$, CO, NO$_2$ and aerosols was also found to be associated with a deepening cut-off low connected with a surface cyclone and surface anticyclone located to the south of Korea during the Asian dust event. The wave pattern of the upper trough/cut-off low and total ozone level remained stationary when they came into contact with a surface cyclone during the Asian dust event. A typical example of a stratosphere-troposphere exchange(STE) of ozone was demonstrated by tropopause folding due to the jet stream. As such, the secondary maxima of ozone above 80 ppbv that occurred at night in Busan, Korea on 1 May 2001 were considered to result from vertical mixing and advection from a free troposphere-boundary layer exchange in connection with an STE in the upper troposphere. Whereas the sudden enhancement of ozone above 100 ppbv during the day was explained by the catalytic reaction of ozone precursors and transport of ozone from a slow-moving anticyclone area that included a high level of ozone and its precursors coming from China to the south of Korea. The aerosols identified in the free troposphere over Busan, Korea on 1 May 1999 originated from the Taklamakan and Gobi deserts across the Yellow River. In particular, the 1000m profile indicated that the source of the air parcels was from an anticyclone located to the south of Korea. The net flux due to the first invasion of ozone between 0000 LST and 0600 LST on 1 May 1999 agreed with the observed ground-based background concentration of ozone. From 0600 LST to 1200 LST, the net flux of the second invasion of ozone was twice as much as the day before. In this case, a change in the horizontal wind direction may have been responsible for the ozone increase.
