$Cu(In_{1-x}Ga_x)Se_2$ Thin Film Fabrication by Powder Process

  • Chalcopyrite-type Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) is one of the most attractive compound semiconductor materials for thin film solar cells. Among various approaches to prepare the CIGS thin film, the powder process offers an extremely simple and materials-efficient method. Here, we present the mechano-chemical synthesis of CIGS compound powders and their use as an ink material for screen-printing. During the synthesis process, milling time and speed were varied in the range of 10~600 min and 100~300 rpm, respectively. Both phase evolution and powder characteristics were carefully monitored by X-ray diffraction (XRD) method, scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation, and particle size analysis by scanning mobility particle spectrometer (SMPS) and aerodynamic particle sizer (APS). We found the optimal milling condition as 200 rpm for 120 min but also found that a monolithic phase of CIGS powders without severe particle aggregation was difficult to be obtained by the mechano-chemical milling alone. Therefore, the optimized milling condition was combined with an adequate heat-treatment (300oC for 60 min) to provide the monolithic CIGS powder of a single phase with affordable particle characteristics for the preparation of CIGS thin film. The powder was used to prepare an ink for screen printing with which dense CIGS thin films were fabricated under the controlled selenization. The morphology and electrical properties of the thin films were analyzed by SEM images and hall measurement, respectively.

중고도-장기체공 무인비행을 위한 비행체 성능 분석 및 역설계 (Reverse-Engineering and Analysis of Performance for Medium-Altitude Long Endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 중고도-장기체공 무인기의 성능을 역설계를 통해 분석하는 것이며, 역설계를 위한 모델로 RQ-1 Predator를 선정하였다. CATIA 프로그램을 사용하여 RQ-1 Predator의 외형에 대한 형상과 중량 분포를 생성하였다. RQ-1 Predator의 공력특성은 주로 와류격자법과 경험식을 조합하여 수행하였으며, 추진 성능은 Howe의 경험식을 통해 수행되었다. 상승률, 실용상승한도, 항속 거리, 그리고 체공 시간에 대한 역설계를 수행하였으며, 역설계 결과가 참고문헌과 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

  • Background and Objectives: $Radiesse^{(R)}$ is a gell-formed material of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) used for vocal fold injections. The authors aimed to study injection laryngoplasty with $Radiesse^{(R)}$, and determine the efficacy of $Radiesse^{(R)}$ for unilateral vocal cord palsy using objective and subjective measures. Materials and Method: Nine patients with unilateral vocal cord palsy received injection laryngoplasty with $Radiesse^{(R)}$ under general anesthesia from Jul. 2007 to Jan. 2008. $Radiesse^{(R)}$ was injected with 25gauze long needle perorally or percutaneously. The Acoustic, aerodynamic, stroboscopic analysis and pre-injection/post-injection perceptual assessment were evaluated in all patients. Results: Postoperative jitter and shimmer scores tended to diminish compared to preoperative scores, and maximum phonation time increased with statistical significantly. Stroboscopic findings demonstrated improvement postoperatively. The degree of hoarseness, which is a part of perceptual assessment, decreased after the procedure. Conclusion: $Radiesse^{(R)}$ may be an altemative material for injection laryngoplasty. We suggest long-term follow up with more cases.

풍력터빈의 구조특성 평가에 관한 연구-Part2 (A Study on the Evaluation of Structural Properties of Wind Turbine Blade-Part2)

  • This paper presents the structural model verification process of whole wind turbine blade including blade model which proposed in Part1 paper. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Phase VI wind turbine which the wind tunnel and structural test data has publicly available is used for the study. In the Part1 of this paper, the processes of structural model development and verification process of blade only are introduced. The whole wind turbine composed by blade, rotor, nacelle and tower. Even though NREL has reported the measured values, the material properties of blade and machinery parts are not clear but should be tested. Compared with the other parts, the tower which made by steel pipe is rather simple. Since it does not need any considerations. By the help of simple eigen-value analysis, the accuracy of structural stiffness and mass value of whole wind turbine system was verified by comparing with NREL's reported value. NREL has reported the natural frequency of blade, whole turbine, turbine without blade and tower only models. According to the comparative studies, the proposed material and mass properties are within acceptable range, but need to be discussing in future studies, because our material properties of blade does not match with NREL's measured values.

기압 고도의 정밀도 향상을 위한 정압 오차 모델에 관한 연구 (Study on Static Pressure Error Model for Pressure Altitude Correction)

  • 무인기의 INS/GPS/기압고도계 결합항법 시스템에서 수직채널감쇠루프를 사용하여 고도 오차를 보정할 때 비행 고도의 오차를 감소시키기 위해서 기압고도계의 정밀도를 향상시켜야한다. 피토정압관을 사용하여 기압 고도를 측정할 때 비행 속도와 자세 등의 변화에 따라 피토정압관 주위의 압력이 변하여 정압 오차에 의한 기압 고도의 오차를 유발한다. 정압 오차를 보정하기 위하여 풍동 시험과 CFD, 비행 시험 등의 자료를 이용하여 피토정압관 측정 압력의 변화를 분석하고 받음각과 비행 속도에 따른 압력 오차의 모델을 수립하였다. 비행 속도 변화에 의한 오차를 보정하기 위하여 피토정압관의 차압과 차압/정압 비를 사용한 두 가지 오차 모델에 대하여 압력 섭동에 대한 민감도 해석을 하였고 비행 시험에 적용하여 차압/정압 비를 사용한 모델이 고고도 비행 특성이 우수하다는 결론을 얻었다.

Embossed Structural Skin for Tall Buildings

  • This paper explores the function of a structural skin with an embossed surface applicable to use for tall building structures. The major diagrid system with a secondary embossed surface structure provides an enhanced perimeter structural system by increasing tube section areas and reduces aerodynamic loads by disorienting major organized structure of winds. A parametric study used to investigate an optimized configuration of the embossed structure revealed that the embossed structure has a structural advantage in stiffening the structure, reducing lateral drift to 90% compared to a non-embossed diagrid baseline model, and results of wind load analysis using computational fluid dynamics, demonstrated the proposed embossed system can reduce. The resulting undulating embossed skin geometry presents both opportunities for incorporating versatile interior environments as well as unique challenges for daylighting and thermal control of the envelope. Solar and thermal control requires multiple daylighting solutions to address each local façade surface condition in order to reduce energy loads and meet occupant comfort standards. These findings illustrate that although more complex in geometry, architects and engineers can produce tall buildings that have less impact on our environment by utilizing structural forms that reduce structural steel needed for stiffening, thus reducing embodied $CO^2$, while positively affecting indoor quality and energy performance, all possible while creating a unique urban iconography derived from the performance of building skin.

춘천의 가정에서 미세분진 ($PM_{2.5}$)과 입자상 다환방향족탄화수소에 대한 계절적 노출 변동 (Seasonal Variations of Human Exposure to Residential Fine Particles ($PM_{2.5}$) and Particle-Associated Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Chuncheon)

  • Lately human exposure to fine particles smaller than $2.5{\mu}m$ in aerodynamic diameter ($PM_{2.5}$) has become a great concern in Korea due to their possible cause of elevated mortality, lung function decrements, and more frequent hospital admissions for asthma. This study was conducted to investigate seasonal variations of human exposure to residential $PM_{2.5}$ and particle-associated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Ten homes in Chuncheon, Korea were visited for continuous 72 hour sampling of $PM_{2.5}$ in the living rooms using a MiniVol Portable Sampler from December 22, 2002 to November 3, 2003. During the same period, outdoor $PM_{2.5}$ samples were collected on the top of the Natural Sciences Building of Kangwon National University which is located in the middle of the ten households. Samples were analyzed for $PM_{2.5}$ mass concentrations and six selected PAHs. In two smoking homes, the highest $PM_{2.5}$ concentrations were measured ranging from 51.1 to 69.7 {\mu}g/m^3$ on average in all seasons, indicating smoking is a very important contributor to the elevation of indoor particle concentrations. Seasonal comparison showed that indoor particle concentrations were higher than outdoor ones except winter. Total PAH concentrations in smoking homes were highest in winter among the seasons primarily due to low ventilation rate, followed by the outdoor site and nonsmoking homes. BaP toxic equivalents (TEQs) were calculated for five PAHs. The TEQ for smoking homes in winter was highest followed by the outdoor site in winter. It is concluded that smoking and ventilation rate are two important contributors to the elevation of indoor $PM_{2.5}$ and PAH concentrations.

터보펌프용 터빈 공기상사 성능시험 (Air Similarity Performance Test of Turbopump Turbine)

  • 로켓 엔진 터보펌프용 터빈은 고온, 고압의 연소가스를 사용하기 때문에 실제 환경에서 성능시험을 수행하기가 매우 어렵다. 따라서 대부분의 경우, 시험에 따르는 위험을 줄이기 위하여 공기를 사용한 시험을 통하여 성능을 평가한다. 본 논문에서는 10 톤급 액체로켓엔진 터보펌프용 터빈에 대한 공기 상사 성능시험에 대하여 기술하였다. 터빈의 공기역학적인 성능을 평가하기 위한 성능시험설비를 구성하였으며, 성능시험설비는 고압공기 공급시스템, 유량측정용 노즐, 시험부, 동력계. 압력조절을 위한 출구 오리피스 그리고 측정 및 제어 시스템으로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 터빈성능 시험을 위한 상사시험 조건을 결정하는 방법과 시험조건을 조절하는 방법에 대하여 기술하였다. 시험결과, 측정 변수들의 상대 표준오차는 1%이내였으며 측정된 터빈 효율은 해석결과와 2% 이내로 일치하였다.

  • 진동수주형 파력발전장치는 수주, 터빈, 발전기 그리고 전력변환 장치 등이 연계된 복잡한 물리적인 특성을 나타낸다. 본 연구는 1/4 스케일의 모형시험을 통해 진동수주와 터빈의 물리적인 관계의 도출에 중점을 두고 있다. 진동수주실과 연성된 터빈의 공력특성은 오리피스를 활용하여 모사하였다. 진동수주실 성능평가에 핵심요소인 터빈효과는 오리피스를 통과하는 유속과 압력강하로 대표할 수 있다. 진동수주형 파력발전장치의 터빈효과는 모형시험에서 계측된 유속과 압력강하로부터 비선형적인 관계를 갖는 것을 확인하였다.

대전 4공단 소각로 후연소로 모델 연구 (Numerical Study of the Post Combustion Chamber of Grate Type Incinerator in Daejon 4th Industrial Complex)

  • A 3-D axisymmetric computer program is developed to predict the NO behavior in SNCR system for the stoker incinerator with the waste treatment capacity, 200ton/day. To this end a turbulent reacting flow field calculation is made using proper assumption and empiricism. The stoker bed is assumed to be a homogeneous waste-volatilized gaseous state. The initial composition or reactants are assumed based on the data of the ultimate analysis. Turbulent is resolved by k-e model and turbulent reaction is handled by eddy-breakup model harmonized with empirical chemistry data for gaseous combustion, NO and urea reaction. The liquid droplet is traced by Lagrangian method incorporated by aerodynamic drag, Coriolis and crntrifugal forces. Radiation is treated by sensible heat loss model. Calculation results are in good agreement with experimental data at the outlet of post combustion chamber in Daejon 4th industrial complex. The flue gas shows the temperature range of $900\sim1000^{\circ}C$, velocity of 5m/s and NO concentration of 140ppm at the exit while the measured temperature, flue gas velocity and NO concentration are $967^{\circ}C$, $3\sim4m/s$ and $100\sim200ppm$respectively. Using the developed computer program a parametric study has been made with the variation of heat content of waste, castable length and SNCR variables for the determination of proper injector location. In general, the calculated results are consistent and physically acceptable.
