The current state of telecommunications infrastructure in the Arctic does not allow providing a wide range of required services for people, businesses and other categories, which necessitates the use of non-traditional approaches to its organization. The paper proposes an innovative approach to building a combined communication network based on tethered high-altitude platform station (HAPS) located at an altitude of 1-7 km and connected via radio channels with terrestrial and satellite communication networks. Network configuration and composition of telecommunication equipment placed on HAPS and located on the terrestrial and satellite segment of the network was justified. The availability of modern equipment and the distributed structure of such an integrated network will allow, unlike existing networks (Iridium, Gonets, etc.), to organize personal mobile communications, data transmission and broadband Internet up to 100 Mbps access for mobile and fixed subscribers, rapid transmission of information from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). A substantiation of the possibility of achieving high network capacity in various paths is presented: inter-platform radio links, subscriber radio links, HAPS feeder lines - terrestrial network gateway, HAPS radio links - satellite retransmitter (SR), etc. The economic efficiency of the proposed solution is assessed.
Satellite and aerial remote sensing (RS) techniques have been provided to collect spatial data globally over the last few decades. However in developing countries such as China, there is still an urgent need for low cost and high resolution RS data. As an emerging RS platform, commercial Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) integrated with state-of-the-art sensors and information technologies has the potential to become a low cost tool to meet application demands. In this paper, the architecture of UAV RS operation system is mentioned. Moreover, key technologies in UAV RS system are analyzed and current work is reported.

Semi-active laser missile systems with high accuracy are necessary to asymmetric threats, such as UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). They are usually used to attack stationary or slow moving targets, therefore we should study on the laser designator which can detect and track fast moving targets in order to deal with UAV. In this study, design specifications are came up through performance analysis of existing laser designators, and laser designation method for fast moving target is developed. The detection and tracking performance of developed laser designator are verified through inside/outside tests on ground/aerial stationary/moving targets. Through this study, we obtain laser designator techniques that could be applied to actual semi-active laser missile systems.
Due to the lack of a system that can detect/identify and strike North Korea's small unmanned aerial vehicles, no immediate response was made. In order to solve the problem of response, we should prepare for threats by developing weapons systems that can be immediately hit when identifying small-sized unmanned aerial vehicle detection radar and creating specialized research organizations for research and development of equipment.
As air combat system technologies developed in recent years, the development of air defense systems is required. In the operating concept of the anti-aircraft defense system, selecting an appropriate armament for the target is one of the system's capabilities in efficiently responding to threats using limited anti-aircraft power. Much of the flying threat identification relies on the operator's visual identification. However, there are many limitations in visually discriminating a flying object maneuvering high speed from a distance. In addition, as the demand for unmanned and intelligent weapon systems on the modern battlefield increases, it is essential to develop a technology that automatically identifies and classifies the aircraft instead of the operator's visual identification. Although some examples of weapon system identification with deep learning-based models by collecting video data for tanks and warships have been presented, aerial vehicle identification is still lacking. Therefore, in this paper, we present a model for classifying fighters, helicopters, and drones using a convolutional neural network model and analyze the performance of the presented model.

This paper proposes an autolanding guidance and control algorithm with the lateral guidance law. This algorithm is basically formulated and designed in feedback linearization based on singular perturbation. Main features of this algorithm are two facts. One of those is that when a certain situation happens that airplane must realign to the runway suddenly assigned due to unexpected environment change around the landing site, the heading guidance in this algorithm is very valuable, and the other is the fact that the inner loop control of this algorithm is able to be designed directly based on the Handling Quality Requirements that most flight control systems must be satisfied with. To illustrate the potential of this algorithm, 6-DOF nonlinear simulation based on the nonlinear airplane model shown in Ref.[11] is carried out. The simulation results showed that the altitude response to the given landing trajectory is accurate, and the airplane heading alignment to the assigned runway from the lateral deviation is successful. It is noted that this algorithm is also applicable to unmanned aerial vehicle, which can be retrieved in autolanding technique, where the runway far retrieving the vehicle is in any direction for example at war field.
Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) is operating widely in civil and military area. GNSS signals, however, can be easily interfered because its signal is vulnerable to jamming. Thus, a sort of backup or alternative system is needed in order that the navigation performance is assured to a certain degree in case of GNSS jamming. In order to suggest a series of backup or alternative system of regional navigation, in this paper, we introduced a high altitude long endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (HALE UAV) with pseudolites using inverted GPS and transceiver system. We simulated the positioning error of the regional navigation system using HALE UAV with inverted GPS or transceivers concepts. We estimated the position error of HALE UAV calculate user position errors based on the position error of HALE UAV and general pseudorange error.

The results of control law design for a tilt-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle that has a nacelle mounted wing extension (WE) are presented in this paper. It consists of a control surface mixer, stability and control augmentation system (SCAS), hold mode for altitude / speed / heading, and a guidance mode for preprogram and point navigation which includes automatic take-off and landing. The conversion corridor and the control moments derivatives between the original tilt-rotor and its variant of the nacelle mounted WE were compared to show the effectiveness of the WE. The nacelle conversion of the original tilt-rotor starts when the airspeed is greater than 30 km/h but its WE variant starts at 0 km/h in order to reduce the drag caused by the high incidence angle of the WE. The stability margins of the inner loop are presented with the optimization approach. The outer loops for the hold mode are designed with trial and error methods with linear and nonlinear simulation. The main control parameter for altitude control of the helicopter mode is thrust command and it is transferred to the pitch attitude command in airplane mode. Otherwise, the control parameter for the speed of the helicopter mode is the pitch attitude command and it is transferred to the thrust command in airplane mode. Therefore the speed and altitude hold mode are coupled to each other and are engaged at the same time when an internal pilot engages any of the altitude or speed hold modes. The nonlinear simulation results of the guidance control for the preprogrammed mode and point navigation are also presented including automatic take-off and landing in order to prove the full control law.

The full results of troubleshooting process related to the flight control system of a tilt-rotor type UAV in the flight tests are described. Flight tests were conducted in helicopter, conversion, and airplane modes. The vehicle was flown using automatic functions, which include speed-hold, altitude-hold, heading-hold, guidance modes, as well as automatic take-off and landing. Many unexpected problems occurred during the envelope expansion tests which were mostly under those automatic functions. The anomalies in helicopter mode include vortex ring state (VRS), long delay in the automatic take-off, and the initial overshoot in the automatic landing. In contrast, the anomalies in conversion mode are untrimmed AOS oscillation and the calibration errors of the air data sensors. The problems of low damping in rotor speed and roll rate responses are found in airplane mode. Once all of the known problems had been solved, the vehicle in airplane mode gradually reached the maximum design speed of 440km/h at the operation altitude of 3km. This paper also presents a comprehensive detailing of the control systems of the tilt-rotor unmanned air vehicle (UAV).
In this paper, the Monte-Carlo method was applied to the controller robustness evaluation problems with respect to the uncertainty of critical plant parameters. The plant studied is a aerial vehicle. The-variable parameters are nondimensional stability derivatives, inertias. The nominal nondimensional stability derivatives ,were obtained from wind tunnel test. Also the nominal inertia parameters were calculated from the mass distribution along the vehicle axes. But the parameters obtained from the test or calculations are at best probable and always contain some uncertainties which one can not figure out. So some kinds of robustness evaluation method should be applied. The parametric robustness of the designed classical controller evaluated by the method turned out to be satisfactory.
