  • In our study, we investigated the effects of position of endorser and endorser's gaze direction(direct/averted_image/averted_text) on advertising attitude, purchase intent and brand recognition using eye-tracking method. Focusing on the printed cosmetic ads which the role of endorser is important and indirect persuade route is relatively is emphasized, we conducted experiment on 36 participants in 20s. As prior studies, our results shows that participants paid attention to more and faster on specific element which the endorser is gazing at. But it was not reflected to ad attitude and purchase intent directly. When the endorser is positioned in left the side, the highest purchase intent was shown in direct gaze condition, while when the endorser is on the right side, the highest ad attitude was shown in gazing image condition. Additionally, the brand recognition task following eye-tracking experiment shows that recognition accuracy was higher only in condition which the endorser is in the left side looking at the product image. These results demonstrated that the gaze direction of endorser plays a role as attentional guidance, which means it can lead customer's attention to particular region in the printed ad, but the effect can be varied depending on the position of endorser and which type of information the endorser is gazing at. Therefore, ultimately, to increase customer's ad attitude and purchase intent, complex consideration of not only the gazing direction of the endorser, but the position of endorser and other diverse elements is necessary.

Generation Z highly values participation and interaction due to the nature of SNS, so SNS advertisements should be produced in a way that induces active interaction with viewers and accepts feedback. Here's a summary of the main parts. It prefers various content formats of Generation Z that consume information. Advertisements should be produced in various formats such as text, images, and videos, and should have flexibility suitable for various platforms. Because each SNS platform has its own characteristics due to platform specialization, this study suggests that advertisements analyze the characteristics of the platform and use the appropriate content strategy for the optimized platform. As an emphasis on value proposition, we propose an advertising format setting to focus on what value the product or brand provides. It is important to clearly emphasize the advantages and intrinsic value of a product or service in video advertising, and in conclusion, we propose to focus on the case of increasing interest by adopting modern and trendy design of storytelling as an attractive and unique design method of aesthetic design and visual effects. Considering these factors comprehensively, the research value of this paper will be able to establish an effective SNS marketing strategy by producing video advertisements that match the lifestyle and SNS usage characteristics of Generation Z.

While no significant differences were observed in the intention to drowsy driving prevention behaviors based on regulatory focus for positively framed messages, for negatively framed messages, a higher intention was observed when the prevention focus group rather than promotion focus group. This study focuses on two key areas: how messages are crafted (message framing) and the characteristics of the people who receive them (regulatory focus). Essentially, it opens doors for creating message strategies that are finely tailored to suit the preferences of the audience. This advancement is vital for researchers and practitioners as it enhances the effectiveness of communication efforts.

  • Purpose: As consumers have difficulty in brand choice due to excessive information, using brand popularity as an advertising cue (e.g., Sales No. 1, Hit Product) has been getting more attention as an effective curation strategy for decreasing consumers' cognitive efforts. Accordingly, recent studies empirically demonstrate that consumers tend to prefer and choose a brand with a popularity cue and offer a useful information regarding how to use a popularity cue in marketing communication. However, extant research has mainly focused on investigating the impact of "brand popularity in a domestic market" on consumer behaviors. Thus, little is known about the effect of "brand popularity in a foreign market" on local consumers' decision-making process. Given that domestic consumers tend to purchase imported products from overseas countries, it can be meaningful information for global companies. Therefore, this research derives and tests the five hypotheses to examine how local consumers respond to brand popularity in a foreign market as an advertising cue. Specifically, it tests the three hypotheses regarding the direct and indirect effects of brand popularity in a foreign market on risk perception and purchase intention. Then, it tests two additional hypotheses about moderating effects of psychic distance on the relationship between brand popularity and risk perception as well as on the relationship between brand popularity and purchase intention. Seventy participants are exposed to an advertisement for an Indian cosmetic brand using a popularity cue in Indian market and answer the questions about brand evaluation. For data analysis, regression analysis is employed. The findings of this research show that perceived brand popularity lowers local consumers' perceived risk with a foreign brand. However, perceived brand popularity does not have a direct impact on purchase intention while it has an indirect effect through perceived risk. Meanwhile, psychic distance moderates the effect of perceived brand popularity on perceived risk level, but it has no impact on the relationship between brand popularity and purchase intention. This research is one of the first studies that demonstrate the positive impact of brand popularity in a foreign market on a local consumer's purchase decision, and it shows the effect can be moderated by psychic distance.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference in advertising effect of visual rhetoric type of Facebook ads depending on the user sensitivity and level of empathy. The experiment was designed as a between-subjects factorial design (visual rhetoric type) × 2 (brand sensitivity) × 2 (level of empathic understanding). The results of the experiment performed to analyze the strategies of Facebook ads for ads effectiveness can be summarized as follows: a three-way interaction effect for persuasive effects was found among the type of visual rhetoric, brand sensitivity, and empathic understanding for both types of visual rhetoric. Breaking down it by type of rhetoric, no interacting effect was observed between brand sensitivity and empathic understanding levels for the visual simile ads in most of the dependent variables. For the visual metaphor ads, however, the brand sensitivity and empathic understanding levels were found to have interaction effect in all dependent variables.

  • Mobile technologies have enabled marketers to target consumers anywhere and anytime. However, as consumers react and respond differently depending on what situation they are in, there is an apparent need to determine when, where, and what kind of advertisement is most relevant to the consumer. This paper proposes a holistic approach to examine the response of consumers when faced with two types of contextual factors (environmental/spatial and social contexts) through the lens of the Mobile Advertising Effectiveness Framework. We focus on the contextual effects of perceived distance from the offline store and the effect of popularity cue indication. A scenario-based survey is conducted to investigate the effects of perceived distance and popularity cue on the users' attitudes, and ultimately on their response intentions, upon receipt of mobile ads. Results of the study confirm the hypotheses: first, mobile ads sent when users perceive the physical store to be in close proximity tend to evoke more positive attitudes and elicit better responses compared to when users perceive the store to be farther away. Additionally, ad messages indicating high popularity were found to be more appealing than those with low popularity. These empirical results underscore the pivotal role of context, encompassing both spatial context (proximity to offline stores) and social context (popularity cues), in shaping consumer attitudes and response intentions in mobile advertising. The findings of the study offer theoretical insights that underline the significance of holistic context-based approaches that in turn, marketers may use to design more effective mobile ad campaigns that may elicit better responses from consumers.
