Consumer Purchasing Decisions on Sustainable Products in Advertising: The Interplay of Message Appeals and Agency-Communion Orientations

  • Both message appeals and individual characteristics can influence the effectiveness of sustainable product promotions. Applying the agency-communion orientation to the advertising message research context, this study examined the interplay between message appeals and agency-communication orientations in impacting purchase intentions. The findings from a 2 (message appeal: self-interest vs. public-interest message) × 2 (motivational orientation: agency vs. communion) experiment revealed a communion-over-agency effect on consumer purchasing decisions for public-interest message appeals. In the self-interest message condition, we found no statistically significant difference in impact between agency and communion on purchase intentions. In short, we contribute to advertising effectiveness research by showing that agency-communion orientations moderate the effect of message appeals. We also explain the practical implications of these findings for effective sustainable communication in advertisements based on individuals' motivational orientations.

Exploring the Challenges and Strategies for Combating Advertising Fraud and Preserving Brand Reputation in the Korean Advertising Landscape

  • As digital advertising continues to dominate the advertising industry and experience substantial growth, associated criminal activities such as advertising fraud and brand safety risks have become increasingly prevalent. Despite the severity and extent of these crimes, the response in Korea has been lackluster, often perceiving them merely as losses in advertising expenses incurred by corporations. However, it is important to note that these issues have direct repercussions on the end-consumer in the form of increased prices for goods and services. Furthermore, illegal and intrusive advertisements not only cause inconvenience to the viewer, but may also indiscriminately target cognitively vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly, with the intention of manipulating advertising metrics and artificially inflating performance indicators. In this study, we aim to explore the concept and significance of advertising fraud and brand safety, and to evaluate the current measures taken in the Korean market. Additionally, we will delve into the implications of related policies and emphasize the necessity of digital advertising literacy in addressing these issues.

The Transformation of the Advertising Industry in the 'Un-tact' Digital Technology Era

  • The advent of the "un-tact 2.0 era," described as a "new normal non-face-to-face social relationship," accelerates the transformation of the living paradigm as a fully digital mediated social relationship. The emergence of these new forms of digital behaviors and mediated relationships significantly influences the industry prospect and consumers' individual lives. Advertising has played a decisive role in moving the formation forces of society, creating a dynamic flow of the capitalist system across races and geographical boundaries. Its role will become more fundamental in the physical contactless environment due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Accordingly, advertising has changed and modified its shape and meaning throughout history to adapt to the dynamic external environment. In this article, we illustrated four primary stages of the evolution in the advertising industry from simple advertising to convergence of advertising. Finally, we also identified the challenges of the present advertising industry and the paradigm transformation of "un-tact 2.0" with various related examples.

The Effect and Impact of Multi-Platform Native Advertising Content

  • Recently, as social media users have grown, the resulting form of advertising has emerged, and one of the types is native advertising. This advertising method appears to be 52% higher than the banner, according to a study by the IPG Media Lab (2013). Therefore, there is a positive effect on native advertising, but it is necessary to maximize the effect. In this paper, the acceptor's attitude to the native advertisement and the shared intention are verified as to how the effect of the native advertisement can be understood and the maximized effect can be obtained. When the brand phrase was in the form of direct exposure, the subjects were positive about the advertisement and the brand attitude was favorable. Share intentions were also high. These results included suggestions to produce native advertisements in consideration of the attitudes and sharing of the recipients.

  • 본 연구는 한국의 광고 시장을 주도하고 있는 10대 광고회사를 대상으로 이들 광고회사의 스포츠마케팅 비즈니스 특징을 밝히는데 있다. 이를 위해 한국 광고시장의 특성을 고찰하고 이러한 특성이 광고회사의 스포츠비즈니스에 어떻게 연결되는지 광고회사의 스포츠마케팅 사업 현황을 통해 분석하였다. 국내 10대 광고회사는 스포츠사업을 통한 수익 모델을 창출하기보다 인하우스에이전시로서 모기업 커뮤니케이션 측면에서 스폰서십과 이벤트 기획 위주의 스포츠마케팅 활동을 하고 있었다. 이러한 특징은 대기업 인하우스에이전시인 광고대행사의 성격에 기인하는 것으로 광고주의 사업 방향에 맞는 다양한 스포츠프로모션은 하고 있으나 프로퍼티를 중심으로 한 스포츠비즈니스로 도전의 과제를 안고 있다.

Exploratory Study on Consumer's Hedonic Value for Retail Advertising and Marketing Plans: Based on In-depth Interview on Consumer's Shopping Experience

  • Going shopping would be a very reasoned and well-planned activity, however, at the same time, it would not. People may go shopping just for fun and as their leisure. The motivations for going shopping and their experiences cannot be fully explained with the economic utility or the information-processing model. Thus, this study explored the hedonic aspect of the experiences of shopping as an alternative explanation to consumers' motivations of shopping and discussed retail advertising and marketing plans. An in-depth interview was conducted to obtain a better understanding about hedonic value, and it was found that hedonic value affects a consumer's shopping experience and that understanding consumers' motivations for shopping and establishing competitive advertising and marketing plans is important in drawing more consumers. Strategic implications for establishing further retail advertising and marketing plans obtained from the findings were also suggested.

  • 휴대폰 보급의 활성화와 모바일 광고의 확산으로 인해 새로운 광고 채널로 부상하고 있는 모바일 광고에 대한 다국적 소비자들의 태도나 행동의지를 이해하는 작업이 중요한 요소가 되었다. 모바일 광고의 특정 영역은 여전히 추가적인 연구가 필요하며, 특히, 모바일 광고에 대한 고객의 태도는 많은 관심을 받고 있는 영역이다. 본 연구는 기존의 기술수용모형을 바탕으로 모바일 광고 특성과 구매의도간의 관계를 조사하고, 국적에 따른 조절효과를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 모바일 광고의 효과성을 향상시키기 위해 노력하고 있는 연구자들이나 광고 실무자들이 관심을 가져야할 요소들을 이해하는데 유용한 정보를 제공할 것이다.

광고대행사 종사원들이 인식하는 임파워먼트가 직무만족, 조직몰입 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Empowerment Perceived by Advertising Agency Workers on the Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment and Turnover Intention)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 광고대행사 종사원들이 인식하는 임파워먼트의 하부구성요인들이 직무만족, 조직몰입 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 검증하여 광고대행사의 효율적인 인적자원관리에 대한 자료를 제공하고자 실시하였다. 본 연구결과로, 첫째, 임파워먼트의 하부구성요인인 의미성 및 자기결정력에 중요성을 부여하면 직무만족과 조직몰입이 높아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 역량성 및 영향력에 중요성을 부여하면 직무만족이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직무만족과 조직몰입에 중요성을 부여하면 이직의도가 줄어드는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 임파워먼트의 하부구성요인인 의미성, 역량성, 자기결정력 및 영향력요인 중 직무에 의미를 느끼는 의미성요인에 중요성을 부여하면 이직의도가 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 광고대행사 인적자원관리자는 광고대행사 종사원들의 직무만족과 조직몰입을 중요시하여 이직의도를 줄일 수 있는 임파워먼트의 영향력을 확대할 필요성이 있음을 시사한다.

4차 산업혁명시대, 광고학 교육과정 혁신에 관한 연구 (A Study of Educational Renovation on the Advertising Curriculum in the Fourth Industrial Revolution)

  • 본 연구는 4차 산업혁명시대에 산업계 현장에서 원하는 광고학 광고교육과정을 개발하기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위해 광고교육의 이해 당사자인 광고대행사의 인사담당자, 신입사원 교육 경험이 있는 121명의 실무자를 대상으로 4차 산업혁명시대에 필요한 광고교과과정에 대한 설문조사를 하였다. 연구결과, 우리나라 광고학 교육의 교과과정이 4차 산업혁명시대에 준비는 미흡하며, 교과과정의 개선 필요성이 높고, 실습교과과정 강화, 이론과 실습을 융합한 실무교과과정 개설, SW교육과 연계한 광고 테크놀로지 교과과정 운영, 그리고 PBL 형식의 교과과정 강화와 같이 실무 연계 교육, 그리고 문제해결능력 배양과 관련된 교과과정을 신설하거나 강화하는 교과과정 운영을 하는 것이 바람직하다는 답변이었다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 광고학계와 광고실무계에 어떤 시사점이 있는 가를 논의하였다.

  • The sponsored search has become significant channel of online advertising, and the large sized advertisers have appeared, so the sponsored search strategy is becoming more important. Since CPC(Cost-per-Click) advertising has different price according to keyword, it is difficult to manage the a lot of keywords at one time. So, the purpose of this study is to investigate the factors which influence on the cost-per-click of sponsored search advertising. That is, there are four factors: impression, CTR(Click through Rate), conversion rate, and keyword's length. for the regression analysis, we use the actual data which is gotten from an ad agency. The result of that, the impression and keyword's length influence cost-per-click positively. However, CTR & conversion rate have no influence on it unexpectedly.
