Advanced Sensor Communication Algorithm based on IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee for High Speed Train Environment (고속 철도 환경을 위한 IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee 기반 개선된 센서 통신 알고리즘)

  • Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is used in the railway field in terms of efficient management and maintenance. Sensor communication technology based on IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee is used in low speed train. However, it is difficult to apply in the high speed train that exposed to severe wireless channel environments. In this paper, we propose the sensor communication algorithm for high speed train environment. we improve error rate and throughput using Equalizer, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), Flexible Spreading Factor (SF) and Modulation. Also, we have analyzed the performance of the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee based on the standard of physical layer of 2.4GHz band in each algorithms. Simulation results show that proposed algorithms can improve error rate and throughput of conventional system.

  • Travel time prediction is an indispensable to many advanced traveler information systems(ATIS) and intelligent transportation systems(ITS). In this paper we propose a method to predict travel time using $Na{\ddot{i}}ve$ Bayesian classification method which has exhibited high accuracy and processing speed when applied to classily large amounts of data. Our proposed prediction algorithm is also scalable to road networks with arbitrary travel routes. For a given route, we consider time-varying average segment velocity to perform more accuracy of travel time prediction. We compare the proposed method with the existing prediction algorithms like link-based prediction algorithm [1] and Micro T* algorithm [2]. It is shown from the performance comparison that the proposed predictor can reduce MARE (mean absolute relative error) significantly, compared with the existing predictors.

  • The detailed production traceability information is a fundamental element in successful introduction and revitalization of traceability system. In this paper, we propose a production traceability information gathering system which is based on handwritten data digitalization technology in agro-livestock products. By the proposed system, we can effectively gather the detailed production traceability information with digital pen and the management ledger of paper document type by only writing the ledger. The server of the system generates the same digital image as the ledger and converts the handwritten data into digital text to insert the data into the database. Because the system is superior to data gathering system based on PC, PDA and touch screen in mobility, usability, data input speed, suitability in agro-livestock environment, it is possible to effectively gather traceability information of high quality by users even if they have low information ability and insufficient time to input data. We expect that the handwritten data digitalization technology is used to gather document based information in stage of manufacturing, distribution and marketing. In addition, this technology is applied to implementing advanced traceability system with RFID/USN based systems.

  • In this paper, the 5.9GHz WAVE(Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments) channel modeling is used by the Jakes channel model for the suitability of the fast wireless channel fluctuation. The performance analysed the fading signal constellation and the spectrum in the IEEE 802.11p spectrum mask, the Doppler effect, the modulation scheme. In addition, the vehicular speed, exactly the performance analysis the WAVE communication systems follow the Doppler effect.

  • In the ubiquitous which is rapidly developing with ultra speed thes days, constructing the u-Campus which is using the sensor-network as its base is keep developing. Also, any information related equipments like PC and mobile, computing is possible whenever and wherever you want and due to the development of the wireless network, the service environment is continually developing. In this article, I'd like to suggest the u-Campus which is very suitable to the user's environment which had used application of mobile. In u-Campus, various techniques are adopted and applied along with development of info-communication related technidques. Especially, the new type of campus which is constructed by adopting the ubiquitous computing net-work technique to the campus of university is the u-Campus. In this article, by suggesting u-Yuhan designing methods, more effective and advanced school activities of students to make possible.

  • Content is often developed inconsistently in technical authoring environments, as new documents are created and existing documents are revised. The Darwin Information Typing Architecture(DITA) is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering technical documentations. The core of most advanced authoring and publishing systems is the concept of content reuse. In this paper, we describe to design and implement an authoring and producing system of different technical documentations for the accreditation programs of Engineering Education using DITA XML. It provide a content reuse method for accomplishing the improvement of content consistency and the speed-up of the production in technical documentations.

  • Wireless communication for train control is an active research field. The World Railway Federation in Europe developed GSM-R, which integrates the GSM-based voice call standard and train control signals. To provide advanced railway services, the LTE-R wireless communication system was developed in Korea for passenger services and wireless image information required by the railroad industry. Recently, direct communication technology for autonomous train driving has been studied to decrease the driving interval, and research is being conducted on a hyperloop train control system that runs at a maximum speed of 1,220km/h in a subvacuum environment of 0.001 atmosphere. In this paper, we summarize the trends in wireless communication technologies used for GSM-R/LTE-R railway systems. For future wireless communication in railway systems, we discuss autonomous train driving and the hyperloop railway control system, define wireless communication technology, and discuss trends in domestic and foreign technologies.

Study on the Maintenance Cost of Railway Infrastructure Using Line Classification and TMV Data (선로등급 및 검측차 검측정보를 고려한 철도시설 유지보수비용 산정에 관한 연구)

  • During the feasibility study of new rail lines, maintenance cost of railway infrastructure has mostly been estimated based on the track length and on simplified parameters; however, the estimation reliability can be improved by employing the correction factor from UIC 715, as well as the line classification in UIC 714. The correlations between maintenance cost and various parameters such as weighted track length based on line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn -out rate have been analyzed according to the case studies. Prediction of the maintenance cost has been carried out using the cost data, which were representative of the whole cost data; as a result, it was demonstrated that a cost model based on the line classification and the correction factor was more reliable than the existing models. Furthermore, possibilities of using data from both the track measurement vehicle and from the maintenance information system, which are under development, have been investigated and, based on this investigation, a combined cost model using line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn-out rate, among other factors, will be proposed in the near future.

Development of Vessel Communication System for Integrated Management and Inter-exchange of Maritime Data (해상 데이터 통합 관리 및 상호교환을 위한 선박 통신 시스템 개발)

  • In this study, for integrated management and inter-exchange of operational data generated by ships and land-side information on safe and business, a vessel communication system with modular functions was designed that applied high efficiency compression, least-cost algorithms and Inmarsat FBB connection automation system. Performance test at the KTsat Kumsan satellite earth station; system was found to delivered an average transfer speed of 7 kB/S, which was significant improvement from the existing commercial product's average speed of 5 kB/S. It also delivered twice the efficiency of the existing product in terms of compression rate and transfer of the most widely used office files in maritime businesses.

  • Along with the popularity of GPS system and smart cell phone, trajectories of pedestrians or vehicles are recorded at any time. The great amount of works had been carried out in order to discover traffic paradigms or other regular patterns buried in the huge trajectory dataset. The core of the mining algorithm is how to evaluate the similarity, that is, the "distance", between trajectories appropriately, then the mining results will be accordance to the reality. Euclidean distance is commonly used in the lots of existed algorithms to measure the similarity, however, the trend of trajectories is usually ignored during the measurement. In this paper, a novel segment transform distance (STD) algorithm is proposed, in which a rule system of line segment transformation is established. The similarity of two-line segments is quantified by the cost of line segment transformation. Further, an improvement of STD, named ST-DTW, is advanced with the use of the traditional method dynamic time warping algorithm (DTW), accelerating the speed of calculating STD. The experimental results show that the error rate of ST-DTW algorithm is 53.97%, which is lower than that of the LCSS algorithm. Besides, all the weights of factors could be adjusted dynamically, making the algorithm suitable for various kinds of applications.
