The subjects were 25 first-generation Korean immigrant mothers who reside in Los Angeles. The Adult Attachment Interview (George, Kaplan, & Main, 1985) was used for assessing their attachment representations. As a result, 36% of the mothers were classified as secure-autonomous (F), 52% as insecure-dismissing (Ds), and 12% as insecure-preoccupied (E). Also, although a significant negative correlation appeared between attachment avoidance and marital relationship, a significant positive correlation was found between job motivation and marital relationship. Third, to examine the mediating effect of satisfaction with the marital relationship on the relationship between adult attachment and job motivation, a structural equation analysis was carried out. As a result, the indirect effect of attachment anxiety on job motivation turned out to be significant and its complete mediating effect was confirmed. This suggests that when developing programs to improve job motivation within the workplace or consultative interventions for the enhancement of marital relationships, the above characteristics of individuals should be taken into consideration.

Data collection was conducted from the third and fourth grade students who had experienced clinical practice in a nursing university at Daejeon, Chungcheong province in two nursing universities at Daejeon and Chungcheong province. Finally, 169 out of initial 200 questionnaires were used for analysis. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation effectiveness, and stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS Statistics 22 Windows program. Attachment avoidance in adult attachment was significantly correlated with self-differentiation (r=-240, p=.002) and clinical competency (r=-.237, p=.002). Clinical competency was significantly correlated with attachment avoidance (r=-.237, p=.002) and self-differentiation (r=.248, p=.001). The result of stepwise multiple regression indicates that self-differentiation and attachment avoidance (F=8.707, p<.001) predicts 8.4% in clinical competency. The most powerful predictor was self-differentiation (${\beta}=.203$, p=.008), followed by attachment avoidance (${\beta}=.188$, p=.0015). Therefore, in order to improve the clinical competency of nursing college students, it is deemed necessary to develop and apply educational and counseling programs capable of increasing their level of self-differentiation while decreasing their degree of attachment avoidance.

  • The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of self-esteem and unstable adult attachment on compensatory consumption among millennials. The survey was conducted on millennials (19~34) in June, 2018. The results revealed the static relationship between self-esteem and compliment-type compensatory consumption, while the relationship of self-esteem with consolation-type compensation consumption become insignificant when unstable adult attachment was controlled. Unstable adult attachment(anxiety/avoidance) showed significant impace on both compliment-type and consolation-type compensatory consumption. The research findings imply that compensatory consumption behaviors can be explained with psychological and relational factors among consumers in their early adulthood.
