Cement is the most significant component in concrete. Large scale manufacturing of cement consumes more energy and release harmful products (Carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere that adversely affect the environment and depletes the natural resources. A lot of research is going on in globally concentrating on the recycling and reuse of waste materials from many industries. A major share of research is focused on finding cementitious materials alternatives to ordinary Portland cement. Many industrial waste by-products such as quartz powder, metakaolin, ground granulated blast furnace slag, silica fume, and fly ash etc. are under investigations for replacement of cement in concrete to minimize greenhouse gases and improve the sustainable construction. In current research, the effects of a new generation, ultra-fine material i.e., alccofine which is obtained from ground granulated blast furnace slag are studied as partial replacement by 25% and with varying amounts of sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde (i.e., 0.3%, 0.35% and 0.40%) on mechanical, water absorption, thermal and microstructural properties of concrete. The results showed moderate improvement in all concrete properties. Addition of SNF with combination of alccofine showed a significant enhancement in fresh, hardened properties and water absorption test as well as thermal and microstructural properties of concrete.
This study discusses a hypothetical method for tracking the propagation damage of Carbon Reinforced Fiber Plastic (CRFP) components underneath vibration fatigue. The High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) behavior of composite materials was generally not as severe as this of admixture alloys. Each fissure initiation in metal alloys may quickly lead to the opposite. The HCF behavior of composite materials is usually an extended state of continuous degradation between resin and fibers. The increase is that any layer-to-layer contact conditions during delamination opening will cause a dynamic complex response, which may be non-linear and dependent on temperature. Usually resulted from major deformations, it could be properly surveyed by a non-contact investigation system. Here, this article discusses the scanning laser application of that vibrometer to track the propagation damage of CRFP components underneath fatigue vibration loading. Thus, the study purpose is to demonstrate that the investigation method can implement systematically a series of hypothetical means and dynamic characteristics. The application of the relaxation method based on numerical simulation in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Evolved Bat (EB) strategy to reduce the dynamic response is proved by numerical simulation. Thermal imaging cameras are also measurement parts of the chain and provide information in qualitative about the temperature location of the evolution and hot spots of damage.

This paper investigated the plant and raw material of the ready-mixed concrete company which could supply to the second Lotte World on Pusan. the results were summarized as following. Almost plants were mainly using Twin shaft mixer which was 210m$^3$/hr and horizontal type. There was different the number of admixture silos at each plants, and they were separated by types. The mixtures mainly consisted of the ordinary portland cement, fly ash and blast furnace slag. For favorable quality control, each materials had to carry from same factories, and the monitering standard for quality control should be prepared. The coarse aggregates were used with many different producing districts, so they were only used from Y caused by exclusion of quality difference. The crushed, washed and river sands were generally used as fine aggregates, so the fine aggregates which could be possible to supply stable quality were chosen. This study used Poly Carbonic Acid Admixture which was developed to satisfy maintenance of performance till 2 hours and 10MPa at 15 hours.

Controlling the setting time of cementitious materials is one of the most important factors in securing early-age performance of concrete structures. Recently, the use of retarding admixtures, which enable the inhibition of some hydration products to control the securing time due to average temperature rise is suggested. Although various non-destructive evaluation methods have been proposed to evaluate cement hydration and hardening of cement-based materials to overcome the limitations of Vicat needle test, experimental research is still required to use the non-destructive evaluation method with added retarding admixtures. In this study, measurements of electrical resistivity and ultrasonic wave velocity in early-aged cement pastes were performed according to the addition of retarding admixture(tartaric acid). The setting time of the cement pastes was evaluated by obtained rising time of the both non-destructive measurements. As a result, the possibility of evaluating the setting delay in cement pastes was confirmed through comparative analysis with the initial and final setting times by Vicat test. In addition, X-ray diffraction results at the rising time of electrical resistivity showed a key hydration product affecting the setting delay.

There are many methods to improve the performance of concrete. Especially, admixture materials used in concrete as the replacement materials of cement, could fluidity, strength and durability of concrete. So recently, the terminology "High-Performance Concrete(HPC)" has been introduced into the construction industry. Most hige-performance concrete have a high cementitious content and a low water-cementitious material ratio. The proportions of the individual constituent vary depending on lacal preferences and local materials. Therefore, many trial batches are usually necessary before a successful mix is developed. The objective of this experiments is to investigate the fundamental properties of high performance concrete based binary cimentitious materials such as ordinary portland cement and ground granulated blast furnace slag. In this study, Use granulated blast furnace slag (30%, 45%, 60%) and water cementitious content (26%, 30%, 34%) take the gauge of capacity that strength, carbonation and XRD, X-Ray Diffraction test
Setting time of cement-based materials can represent a developing strength in early-age mixture, and it can be used a significant parameter of high-performance concrete having various mix-proportions. Generally, initial and final setting time of concrete is measured by penetration resistance method that used a wet-sieving mortar mixture, therefore, it hardly represents the setting time of sound concrete including coarse aggregate. Recently, several nondestructive methods, such as ultrasonic velocity and impendence measurement, are proposed to evaluate the setting time of fresh concrete. This study attempts to measure an electrical resistivity using four-electrode method for evaluation of setting time in early-age cement-based materials. For this purpose, total 10 mixtures are prepared as different mix-proportions including chemical admixture. Based on the experimental results, two electrical parameters, such as initial electrical resistivity and rising time, are proposed to reflect a microstructure development by hydration of cement-based materials. As a result, proposed parameter is also discussed with the measured setting time by penetration resistance method.
Air-cooled slag showed grindability approximately twice as good as that of water-cooled slag. While the studied water-cooled slag was composed of glass as constituent mineral, the air-cooled slag was mainly composed of melilite. It is assumed that the sulfur in air-cooled slag is mainly in the form of CaS, which is oxidized into $CaS_2O_3$ when in contact with air. $CaS_2O_3$, then, is released mainly as $S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ion when in contact with water. However, the sulfur in water-cooled slag functioned as a constituent of the glass structure, so the$S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ ion was not released even when in contact with water. When no chemical admixture was added, the blended cement of air-cooled slag showed higher fluidity and retention effect than those of the blended cement of the water-cooled slag. It seems that these discrepancies are caused by the initial hydration inhibition effect of cement by the $S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ ion of air-cooled slag. When a superplasticizer is added, the air-cooled slag used more superplasticizer than did the blast furnace slag for the same flow because the air-cooled slag had higher specific surface area due to the presence of micro-pores. Meanwhile, the blended cement of the air-cooled slag showed a greater fluidity retention effect than that of the blended cement of the water-cooled slag. This may be a combined effect of the increased use of superplasticizer and the presence of released $S_2O{_3}^{2-}$ ion; however, further, more detailed studies will need to be conducted.
Carbon dioxide generated from construction materials and construction material industry among the fields of construction is approximately 67 million tons. It is about 30% of the carbon dioxide generated in the fields of construction. In order to reduce carbon dioxide in the fields of construction, it is necessary to control the use of fossil fuel consumed and decrease carbon emission by reducing the secondary and tertiary curing generating carbon dioxide in construction material industry. Therefore, this study manufactured mortar by having cement as the Plain and substituting three binding materials up to 50% and then adopted different curing methods to analyze congelation and strength characteristics. Test results for strength property by changing binding materials showed that specimens with blast furnace slag, CSA 15% and CAMC 5% resulted in positive effect for strength.

High-performance concrete, besides aggregate, cement, and water, incorporates supplementary cementitious materials, such as fly ash and blast furnace slag, and chemical admixture, such as superplasticizer. Hence, it is a highly complex material and modeling its behavior represents a difficult task. This paper presents an evolutionary system for the prediction of high performance concrete strength. The proposed framework blends a recently developed version of genetic programming with a local search method. The resulting system enables us to build a model that produces an accurate estimation of the considered parameter. Experimental results show the suitability of the proposed system for the prediction of concrete strength. The proposed method produces a lower error with respect to the state-of-the art technique. The paper provides two contributions: from the point of view of the high performance concrete strength prediction, a system able to outperform existing state-of-the-art techniques is defined; from the machine learning perspective, this case study shows that including a local searcher in the geometric semantic genetic programming system can speed up the convergence of the search process.
The annual average of energy sources is continuously increasing at a rate of 5.8%, and particularly, the power generation proportion of new/renewable energy is increasing significantly. Furthermore, South Korea has established a national energy master plan for 2008-2030 and is aiming at obtaining approximately 11% of total energy production from the wind turbine sector. Although offshore wind turbines are similar to wind turbines installed on land, they require materials with excellent dynamic properties and durability to prevent damage due to seawater at the lower parts and connecting parts. The lower parts of wind turbines are submerged in seawater, and the upper and lower parts are connected by filling the connecting part with grout. This paper describes the test results of the process of determining the mix ratios to develop ultra-high grout for offshore wind turbines. There is virtually no relevant technology regarding grout for offshore wind turbines in South Korea that can be referenced for the process of determining the mix ratios. Therefore, tests were conducted for determining compression strength, elastic modulus, flexural strength, density, constructability (floor test), and early strength by referencing a high-performance grout produced in South Korea, and the mixing process for achieving the goal strengths was described using the Korean Industrial Standards (KS) as the reference.
