  • The mucoepidermoid cancer is a tumor arising in the bronchial submucosal glands that shows an intimate admixture of glandular element and sheets of cell with or no definite squamous differentiation. This rare tumor is usually located in lobe and bronchi and occasionally in the trachea. This tumor presents with symptoms of bronchial irritation or obstruction, often of several years duration. The treatment is complete resection with use of bronchoplastic techniques.Low grade tumor have a good prognosis with adequate resection. We experienced a case of mucoepidermoid cancer arising from superior segment of left lower lobe, which was treated with Lt.lower lobectomy.

  • The purpose of this study is to achieve a sufficient fluidity without segregation for normal compressive strength grade concrete mixture. The major obstacle of achieving fluidity of normal compressive strength grade concrete mixture is segregation. Hence, in this research, VMA was used to prevent segregation.

  • After mixing the pozzolan-based powder and water repellent with porosity into the cement mortar, microanalysis and measurement of the water repellent contact angle confirmed that the NZS specimen using natural zeolite had the highest contact angle. The specific surface area is increased due to the porosity of natural zeolite, so the adhesion of silane-siloxane is relatively better than that of FA, and it is judged to have a uniform distribution inside the mortar.

  • High performance concrete mixes are selected and corresponding test specimens are made for the study of chloride diffusion coefficient at reference time. The concrete mixes were same designs as those used in construction of bridges located in a marine environment. Mix design variables included binder type, water-to-binder ratio, mineral admixtures to total binder weight substitution ratio, fine aggregate source, chemical water reducer admixture type for high strength and high flowability, and target slump or slump flow. The test results showed that the diffusion coefficients at reference time varied significantly according to the type of mineral admixtures and their substitution ratios. A model for diffusion coefficient at reference time considering the type of mineral admixture and the substitution ratio was developed. Diffusion coefficients from the developed model were compared with those from literature review, a previous model, and additional test results. All of the comparisons verified that the developed model can reasonably predict diffusion coefficients and the application of the model to the durability design against chloride penetration is appropriate.

  • Of construction materials, cement and steel are the representative material that carbon dioxide. to reduce carbon emissions in the use of these materials The purpose of this study is low heat type blended cement, which is manufactured using a amount of cement than ordinary low heat blended cement. Low heat blended cement, mixing ratio of 10%, was investigated hydration properties and adiabatic temperature of concrete. The study in order to activate the reaction mineral admixture, a separate source of CaO and $SO_3$ areneeded. gypsum and lime, it expected amount of cement, low-carbon low-heat blended cement could reduce the hydration heat concrete than currentlyused low heat blended cement.

  • In this paper, tests were carried out to monitor the effect of the curing temperature on autogenous shrinkage of the high strength cement mortar incorporating silica fume, blast furnace slag and fly ash ranged from 10%~30% by mass of cement. The curing temperatures were varied from $5^{\circ}C$ to $35^{\circ}C$, respectively. According to results, the setting time exhibited to delay with increase of admixture and drop of temperature. As for the effect of curing temperature on autogenous shrinkage, the increase of SF and BS resulted in an increase of autogenous shrinkage, while the use of FA decrease. The higher the curing temperature is, the greater the autogenous shrinkage is. This is due to the accelerated hydration rate of cement. It is found that the maturity does not consider the effect of curing temperature on autogenous shrinkage.

  • In this paper, the engineering properties and estimation of drying shrinkage of concrete incorporating fly ash (FA), blast furnace slag (BS) and cement kiln dust (CKD) were discussed. FA, BS and CKD contents ranged from 0% to 20%. Water to binder ratio (W/B) also ranged from 40 to 50 %, with a 5% interval. For estimating drying shrinkage, an exponential model proposed by the author was applied, According to results, the use of FA, BS and CKD resulted in a decrease of flowability and air contents. As expected, the use of admixtures also decreases the early age strength of concrete, while at later age, due to a pozzolanic reaction of FA and BS, the compressive strength was recovered to a value comparable with that of plain concrete. For drying shrinkage, the use of admixtures led to an increase in the drying shrinkage of concrete. The exponential model suggested by the author showed good agreement between the calculated and experimental values both at early age and at later age.

  • Wave propagation in gyrotropic or anisotropic medium is analyzed in terms of the eigenmodes of the medium, which are admixture of TE and TM waves. The field composition and the phase velocity of the modes are also determined. The results of the analysis are applied to thin film optical waveguide using such medium as substrate and/or film. Based on the characteristic equations for phase constants of the waveguide, the condition for TE-TM mode convection is derived, and wave propagation in the guide is represented in the form of Jones matrix, which allows a new interpretation in the conversion efficiency of the thin-film optical waveguides.

  • This study has focused on the possibility for recycling tailings from the Sangdong tungsten mine as admixture for concrete. The XRD(X-ray diffraction analysis) and PSA(Particle size analysis) were performed to find mineralogical characteristics. As a result of XRD analysis, the tailings from the Sangdong tungsten fine were composed of quartz, chlorite, anorthite and cordierite etc. As a result of KSLT for cement mortar mixed with tailings from the Sangdong tungsten mine, most of heavy metals were determined as below the guide line for waste material. In addition, the setting time and compressive strength of cement mortar mixed with tailings from the Sangdong tungsten mine were investigated. It was indicated that the initial and final set were retarded according to increasing replacement of tailings from the Sangdong tungsten mine. The compressive strength of mortar was decreased with increasing replacement of failings from the Sangdong tungsten mine.
