The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between academic achievement, major selection motivation, work value, and campus life adjustment of healthcare major college students. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire for 495 healthcare major college students at a four-year university located in G city. As a result of the study, Academic achievement was determined with positive correlation by major selection motivation (r=.446, p<.001), work values (r=.255, p<.001), campus life adjustment(r=.391, p<.001), Major selection motivation was positively correlated with work value (r=.354, p<.001) and campus life adjustment (r=.220, p<.001). The work value showed a positive correlation with the campus life adjustment(r=.193, p<.001). It is necessary to develop a career education program that reinforces college students' major selection motivation and their work values, and a student guidance program that improves their adaptation to college life.

This article attempted to find out the moderating effects of social support in the relationship between perceived stigma, depression of student with disabilities(SWD) and their adjustment of campus life. For the purpose of the reason the data were collected from 108 SWD from questionaries in Busan city and Kyungnam province. The results were as follows. It was revealed that the factors, grade and gender, had significant difference in the level of adjusting campus life of SWD. Perceived stigma and depression of SWD had positive impact on the adjustment of campus life. Social support of SWD also had positive impact on the adjustment of campus life. This study demonstrated that social support of SWD had moderating effect in the relationship between perceived stigma, depression of SWD and their adjustment of campus life. This study verified that for the purpose of improving the adjusting level in college life of SWD, it was as important to make social support to be delivered at SWD as decreasing the perceived stigma and depression of SWD. Finally, the authors suggested some direction to solve the problem related this study question and remarked the limitation of this study.

This study focuses on university students' social capital, examines the effects of university students' social capital on psychological well-being and campus life adjustment, and analyzes the mediating effects of psychological well-being. Data were gathered from 205 university students. The results showed firstly that university students' social capital did not have a positive effect on personal adjustment. Secondly, social capital did not have a positive effect on academic adjustment. Thirdly, social capital has a positive effect on social adjustment. Finally, psychological well-being mediated the relationship between social capital and campus life adjustment. This study is unique in that it examines the relationship between social capital and campus life adjustment. In addition, theoretical implications can be found in examining the process of mutual cooperation among students and revealing that they are identified by the theory of social exchange. Practically, the study shows that active efforts are needed to strengthen social capital and create a cooperative environment at the school level.

The purpose of this study is to identify the main factors helping university students sucessfully adapt to campus life and achieve academic accomplishment through a critical period in personal development. For this purpose, the analysis verifying influence of self leadership as an individual trait variable and social support as a socio environmental trait variable on academic achievement of university students and the mediating effect of school adjustment among them was conducted. Total 271 responses collected by implementing a questionnaire survey in "S", a four-year private university located in Seoul, were used for the analysis. The validity of the measurement was verified through confirmatory factor analysis and the relationship among the variables was examined through structural model equation, bootstrap and sobel test. The major finding of this study are as follows. First, this study confirmed the causal relationship of self leadership and social support impacting on academic achievement of university students. This result suggests that an integrated approach taking into account both individual and socio environmental factors is necessary to support academic achievement of university students. Second, it was proved that self leadership and social support indirectly influences academic achievement through school adjustment. This demonstrates that school adjustment is an important predictor of academic achievement as well as plays a major role in mediating among self leadership, social support and academic achievement. In conclusion, the results of this study conveys its significance in suggesting the necessity to provide insititutional support on individual trait and socio environmental factor enabling university students sucessfully to adapt to campus life and achieve academic achievement.

This study attempted to survey nursing students' motives for choosing nursing as their major, and to examine how such motives affect their satisfaction with their major, campus-life satisfaction, and self-directed learning ability. This study was conducted as a descriptive survey. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire during the period from the 1st to 15th of April, 2015, and the questionnaires from 195 nursing students were used in the analysis using Fisher's exact test, t-test, one way ANOVA, Mann Whitney test, and ANCOVA. Only 41.5% of the nursing students chose nursing as their major because of their aptitude and interest. The motive for the selection of the major was found to have a significant effect on their satisfaction with the major (p<.001), campus-life satisfaction (p=.008), and self-directed learning ability (p=.001). Middle and high school students should be provided with various types of information on nursing, so that they can have the opportunity to choose nursing based on their aptitude and interest before entering university. Once they start university, nursing students' adjustment to campus-life and learning ability should be enhanced through various extracurricular activity programs in order to stimulate their interest in the major.

pH adjustment would be of advantage in improving the water holding capacity of muscle proteins. The objective of this study was to evaluate the addition of fish sarcoplasmic protein (SP) solution, which was adjusted to pH 3.0 or 12.0, neutralized to pH 7.0, and lyophilized to obtain the acid- and alkaline-treated SP samples, on the functional properties of the chicken myofibrillar protein induced by microbial transglutaminase (MTG). The solubility of alkaline-treated SP was higher than that of the acid counterpart; however, those values of the two pH-treated samples were lower than that of normal SP (p<0.05). All SP solutions were mixed with myofibrillar proteins (MP) extracted from chicken breast, and incubated with MTG. The shear stresses of MP with acid- and alkaline-treated SP were higher than that of normal SP. The thermal stability of MP mixture reduced upon adding SP, regardless of the pH treatment. The breaking force of MP gels with acid-treated SP increased more than those of alkaline-treated SP, while normal SP showed the highest value. The MP gel lightness increased, but cooking loss reduced, with the addition of SP. Smooth microstructure of the gel surface was observed. These results indicated that adjusting the pH of SP improved the water holding capacity of chicken myofibrillar proteins induced by MTG.

This study aimed to identify the correlation of stress-coping, humor sense, and adaptation to college of nursing students. Three hundred thirty eight subjects completed a structured questionnaire in June 2012. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The mean scores were as follows; stress-coping 43.33, humor sense 72.18, and adaptation to college 68.02. It meant beyond the intermediate level. Significant differences were found between adaptation to college scores and general characteristics such as gender, academic year, family type, economic status, campus life satisfaction, relation with faculties, grade, and the relationship with the opposite gender. There was significant but weak correlation of stress-coping, humor sense, and adaptation to college. These results suggest that it is necessary to develop individualized education programs considering students' characteristics. Additionally, university adjustment related factors should be studied.
